This place is awesome all the way around. :-)

I was so happy to find that Kamome had opened at pop brixton! I loved it when it was at Brixton marker and the new location was as good as I remembered. The broccoli was *chef kiss* as well as the chicken karaage and all the other dishes we ordered. And with cold Asahi to wash down it was perfect
Nothing special about this place but they do really decent comfort food. Recommended the curry, love the kick in the spice. Definitely somewhere I will come back again.
Simple, unassuming Japanese shop in Brixton Village. The donburi was exactly what I needed. Come here for a traditional Japanese home cooked experience
Great sashimi and gyozas. As always, food was awesome.
Look, taste is subjective but I felt compelled to write a review after seeing a slew of bad ones; this place is a small hidden gem! Food has consistently been really good, the best Japanese I’ve had in England without going to somewhere more £££. Always left here content with full stomach (so much so, we usually can’t finish our meals and have to get them packaged up to go since the main dish servings are sizeable)
The shop is a small cute no frills affair with polite staff and quick service. The takoyaki balls here are a must order and up there with the best I’ve ever had!
Gluten free options were numerous and delicious. We ordered several dishes just to try out the food because we dont often find gluten free Japanese food....especially gluten free tempura. Portion size was great. Taste was delicious. We enjoyed it all! Service was A+. Highly recommend this place. Dont miss it. It is located on a quiet side road of the Brixton market.
The food was delicious. Good variety of vegetarian options. The vege udon noodles and avocado n cucumber maki were lovely. It would be great if there was a bit of a salad in our curry rice but definitely we will come back.
A small independently run hidden gem. Some of the dishes are on the menu to cater to the locals (I would give those a miss) but if you go for Japanese dishes you won’t be disappointed - they are delicious and have a very Japanese-home-cooked feel to it. I’ll definitely be back!
Don't be put off by the decor and sterile canteen look of it!
Have walked past this place so many times being slightly put off by the lack of atmosphere and decor, but finally stopped to eat here and can't believe what I've been missing! Fresh, clean, hot tasty food - the best agedashi tofu I've had in London, great sweet miso aubergine and decent ramen.. The ramen could be improved enormously it's true, but the basics are there to build upon. Service was very good.
I would love them to sort the look of the place out so it has more 'curb appeal' and with that more people visiting and more investment in some great food. It could be a real gem.
One of my favourite places to eat in Brixton Village, Curry Ono serves authentic, delicious Japanese food at a great price and this is some of the best Chicken Katsu curry I've had in London. We went on a Friday night with a large group and the staff were more than happy to make room for us inside the restaurant, though they also have some tables outside. They also have a big selection of sake which was a perfect post dinner drink.
Bizarrely quiet - perhaps because it provides substance over style. Great great food. Yaki udon, Prawn tempura and seafood salad. With the black honey dango for dessert (a handwritten addendum to the menu) I've been before and had the ramen which was a bit rustic for a western palate (not instagrammable like most nowadays) but better value. Will be back.
Kamome is a quiet little restaurant tucked away inside of Brixton Market which serves up some of the best Japanese food I've had outside of Japan. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.
There are plenty of vegetarian options and a smattering of vegan dishes if that's your sort of thing.
really honest and chill place to eat. it's authentic japanese and pretty affordable. simple and quick good food, especially veg-tempura and ramen. will definitely go there again. it does well what it does, so i don't understand what expectations others would have with a place like this. give it a try if you want to eat honest food.
My boyfriend and I came here in search for the best Japanese curry in London and we were extremely satisfied :D
I had the miso salmon set meal with curry and he had the pork katsu curry. Having frequented popular Japanese restaurants around Mayfair and Soho, we can say with certainty that Curry Ono's curry is one notch above the rest.
The curry was superb - the spices were well-balanced and fragrant, it was heavenly when mixed into the fluffy rice. I was surprised with the miso salmon, given that curry (which is traditionally served with breaded chicken/pork) is their signature dish. The salmon was very well-marinaded, with the miso seeping through to the centre of the generous fillet, and perfectly cooked. Skin was crispy, but the flesh was still tender and juicy. My boyfriend, who is usually a picky eater, thoroughly enjoyed his katsu curry (and did not leave any for me to try).
All in all, we're very glad that we made this trip down to Brixton and found a gem of a restaurant at Curry Ono :) It's a pity not many people know of the place and it was quite empty on a busy Saturday afternoon. We'll definitely be back again to satisfy our curry cravings! :)
