Classic London pub. I used to go three 30 years ago and it hasn't changed at all (apart from the prices). Well worth a visit.

I had a moment so went here for some food. This is located down a little alleyway. Unfortunately, the grill wasn't working at the time so I couldn't get the burger I was craving. But I must admit that I really enjoyed the salad. The staff were lovely. I arrived at 11.40, by 12.15, it had become very busy. The toilets were clean but quite small.

🚇 Bank đŸș £6.40 Moretti ❀ An historic city pub that will transport you back in time. . The uniquely named Old Doctor Butler's Head is located in Moorgate in the City of London. This pub is not easy to find as it is tucked away down a narrow side street called Masons Avenue. The nearest tube stations are Bank & Moorgate, both are a five minute walk away. . There has been a pub on this site since 1610 with the current building established in 1666 just after the great fire of London. The bulk of this building is 19th century, the setting and building make for a Dickensian feel. . The decor here is dark and atmospheric, this pub has a similar vibe to the brown café’s of Amsterdam. The ground floor bar has a raised seating area at the back and the main bar area for drinkers at the front. There is also another bar and dining area on the upper floors for those in need of sustenance. . This is a Shepherd Neame pub which has a good beer selection with four cask ales available at the time of visiting. I was served by a lovely lady who poured my pint of Moretti with a smile, my pint was decent and price point was to be expected. The food menu is full of hearty British pub classics, there is also a good assortment of sandwiches for city worker clientele that need a quick bite at lunchtime. . I visited just after 4pm on a Friday and the pub was starting to fill up with suits from the swathes of surrounding offices. This is such an atmospheric boozer, whether inside or out you get that feeling of old world charm. . The @olddoctorbutlers was an excellent visit and I loved the old London Dickensian charm that oozes from its pores. This pub isn’t open at weekends if you’re planning a visit here, but be sure to visit this superb London pub. . â„č Info correct on visiting 19/08/22

Very traditional pub, tucked away in an alleyway close to the Guildhall. Dark wood interior; split level bar downstairs and an upstairs dining room. The area out front is pedestrianised, so great for smokers and fair weather drinkers. A Shepherd’s Neame pub with their full range of cask ales. Had a decent couple of pints of Bishop’s Finger after work, just before it started to fill up.

I went for a Christmas booking with sit down meal served in the upstairs function room. The setting is great, it's an ancient boozer and it looks it (in the nicest possible way!). The venue has plenty of history. Staff were attentive and kept checking on us. The food was surprisingly good and well worth the set menu price. We shared our room with another party but didn't feel on top of each other at all. Recommended for an intimate function.

A Timeless City Slicker Pub, nestled in a charming alleyway near the Guildhall, Old Doctor Butler's Head is a truly traditional pub that exudes classic charm. Its dark wood interior creates a cozy atmosphere, and the split-level bar downstairs and an inviting upstairs dining room offer ample space for patrons to enjoy their visit. The pedestrianized area out front provides a welcome respite for smokers and those seeking a pleasant outdoor drinking experience. As a Shepherd's Neame pub, Old Doctor Butler's Head proudly serves their full range of cask ales. During my visit, I had the pleasure of enjoying a couple of pints of Bishop's Finger after a day's work, just before the pub started to fill up with the after-work crowd. The quality of the ale was commendable, providing a satisfying and enjoyable drinking experience. Old Doctor Butler's Head perfectly embodies the essence of a traditional pub, offering a warm and inviting ambiance amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Whether you're seeking a relaxed after-work drink or a casual dining experience, this timeless establishment is sure to please. Cheers to that đŸș

Good traditional pub. Much cooler inside during the summer. Can get crowded outside in the summer evenings especially Thursday's. Staff are friendly and attentive.

Perfect place for a city post work refreshment. Standing space outside (although not always a sun trap as it is in an alley). Great selection of beers on tap.

Eating is cheating, so didn't indulge in any food stuffs whatsoever, service was good and fast for my goal of becoming drunk as quickly as possible, well done team, we managed it, with the added bonus of soiling myself on way home, bonus points to you.

Nice semi hidden pub in the city. Can get very busy at the end of the day however.

Great service, well-served pints, and the staff is always looking to explain the new beers. Loaded chips are just AMAZING... Even better if you per with a Whitstable bay beer!

We hired the top floor function room for a pub quiz of 60+ people - we had a private bar and buffet. The staff were great and very accommodating when we had extra teams arrive late! The quality of the buffet food was much better than you'd expect, bar service was very quick and the team were generally very helpful. The hire charge was only a minimum spend too - which we easily met with the number of people attending. Would highly recommend for parties / quiz nights or other similar needs.
