LOVE LOVE LOVE. Ordered a customised “Say it with Dum Dums” online from here in AUS a couple months before venturing over to the UK. The process was super easy, and such a decent price for complete customisation! Dum Dum Donutterie let me choose what I wanted the the doughnuts to spell, the flavour of the filling, icing, the colours of the glaze and SPRINKLES!!! Perfect for a special occasion, picked the time and date I wanted to pick it up went to their cute little Box Park store and it was super easy!!! Staff were friendly and doughnuts were awesome, tasty and they got the custom flavours just right!

TIP: Do order in advance this place can get pretty buzzzaaayyy! If your looking for other options in a different area Dum Dum Donutterie have multiple locations or an alternative could be Vicky’s Doughnuts who also do similar doughsies!!!

So I was exploring Shoreditch High Street when I across this outlet. I was quite surprised to see their branch here, as I have quite a lot about their branch in Dubai but sadly have been able to visit it.
Well, needless to say I decided that it was a cheat day and went all in for their famous Crone. Tried their Belgian Chocolate one which was amazing but I will say this it was quite as task for me to finish it. The quantity is sufficient for two people, maybe even three.
The server was really  helpful and was also quite friendly when I asked him about their Dubai branch. Overall, the place made my London holiday even more better.

Just a week ago, Dum Dum Donutterie, launched a new product named The Crone. What is The Crone? In a nutshell, cronut + (ice cream) cone = CRONE. Who else agree with me that this is indulgence taken to a whole new level? I remember when the idea of cronut was first launched, it was...

If it's baked does it make it healthy? We'll go with yes in this case.

If you're around Shoreditch and near the quirky Boxpark, check out container 31 for these super treats.

I love me a good doughnut and the Strawberries and Cream Crodough satisfied all of my doughnut cravings. The savory but sweet sticky jam, the buttery light cream, the crunch of the baked pastry with that dusted sugar. Drooool, I'll be back and probably very soon 😃

Boxpark in Shoreditch is a great place to be at, especially now that the sun has graced us with its presence after aeons of rain, given all the myriad of small shops and restaurants that exist there. A DJ was playing the regular dutz dutz dutz as we casually entered Dum Dums Donutterie for some mouth watering dessert.

DUM DUM ! Yum yum !
Loved the idea of it being baked not fried, but i honestly thought the (notfried) part would lessen the taste of it but I was wrong. The chocolate(zebra) cronut tasted amazing the flavors were so mouthwatering and the crunchiness of the pastry was so good as well, i also tried a mini vanilla butter donut and it was as good ! Definitely to try

I have heard a lot about Dum Dum Donutterie. Known as the first baked artisan doughnut and cronut brand that swiped England off its feet – it has been on my list to try. Yes, the doughnuts there are baked instead of fried, which means a significantly lower amount of fat than a typical donut. I guess that is probably the very reason it gained popularity so quickly. Everyone loves to be indulged, I also love a classic ring shaped doughnut that’s freshly fried to golden brown and finished up with a beautiful glaze. However, as much as I love them, the amount of fat and calories in a typical doughnut are a complete red flag. Is Dum Dum Donutterie the solution?

Best iced buns in London.

Sorry Dum Dums, I guess I'm a doughnut purist, though these were still delicious, I just wouldn't call them a doughnut. The 'lightly sprayed with oil and then baked method' is great for producing a lighter dough, a healthier version but it takes away from the expected texture of a crispy edge and leaves me with an unexpected but yummy iced bun in my mouth. Flavours and toppings are beautiful, where fluffy dough oozes out a seemingly never ending amount of gorgeous raspberry jam as if it were Mary Poppins' handbag. Thick glossy icing shines over the top, tenaciously gripping the sprinkles. if you like a variety of flavours, opt for a few of the mini ones. Or just grab a whole fat one to yourself.

Doughnuts aren't all they sell here, love-child of Mr Croissant and Ms Doughnut, the 'Cronut', is a special feature at this place where you can even order a mega-beast of one for a special occasion, like: birthdays; Christmas; Sunday lunch; breakfast; supper etc.

The Nutella Cronut is a must, a brown cro-dough stuffed with layers of Nutella, whipped hazelnut frosting, surrounded in a thin layer of sugar and topped with chocolate icing to fix whole hazelnuts into place.

With plenty of flavours to try and lovely staff to guide you through your choices, there's enough 'doughnuts' here to keep you occupied until your next diet. If only there was a doughnut in this Donutterie...

The cronuts in this place are unreal! No wonder you have to get here early to avoid them selling out! They filling to pastry ratio is perfect and they are never too sweet. The pistachio cronut is one that everyone must try!

"Mmmmmm, doughnuts....gargagrala"

Dum Dums is bloody lovely. It's only a little narrow shop operating out of Shoreditch Boxpark, but there's delights galore to bring even the most reluctant of sweet teeth out to scoff its loveliness. On my visit, showing an out of towner around the cooler bits of the city, we got a Zebra - basically a cronut with chocolate - and a couple of snowballs - the owner was nice enough to drop an extra couple in for free which was a bonus! Definitely worth a visit if you're ever local

Established in 2013, Dum Dum Doughnuts is another in a long list which have opened in the last couple of years as part of the doughnut/cronut revolution. Such is the explosion, you would be forgiven for suffering from a bit of doughnut fatigue but at Dum Dum, you do get drawn in by a unique selling point; all the doughnuts here are BAKED. Controversial? Maybe so but there is a reason to the madness.

In their own words, "The Dum Dums baking process not only lowers fat, it allows us to choose the right amount of fat...Dum Dums sprays a light vegetable oil on the surface of the doughnuts that replicates frying on the outside but minimises fat absorption....The added bonus is that when Dum Dums bakes the doughnut it gets an “oven burst” that makes the doughnuts light and fluffy rather than greasy and stodgy."

Always the skeptic, I approached with caution and whilst understanding the logic, questioned to result. But having been (and since the first time, a few times more...) I can say that the doughnuts are rather good.

The texture of the doughnut, as you can imagine, is unlike a traditional doughnut in the slightest; comparatively a lot drier and more akin to bread. Though understanding that the cooking process does come with health benefits, I do question if it is worth sacrificing that iconic fried doughnut fluffiness; a doughnut is a doughnut no matter how you cut it and it is meant to be a guilty pleasure after all.

However, what has got me hooked is their delicious array of flavours which makes choosing just one always difficult. Personal favourites are the strawberry and cream (which tastes as good as it looks) and the Yum Yums which I rate as their best item. Aside from these, the Zebra is probably considered their signature and for good reason and almond creme and pistachio are also tasty.

Having asked around my social circle, the verdict on Dum Dums remains split but that's not necessarily a bad thing. For me, I'm a fan and believe that Dum Dums brings a uniqueness that has a place in the London market. And judging from the throngs of people lining up for their fix, I am far from alone.

Say what you want about the playful name that Dum Dums have chosen for their establishment, but if there’s one thing to take away from a visit to the Donutterie, it’s that their desserts are no joke.

Located at Shoreditch’s famous Boxpark, Dum Dums Donutterie is extremely easy to walk past. Their sign blends in with the rest of the shops and there’s no real “bakery” smell wofting out… But you’d do well to keep your eyes open, as the doughnuts on offer at Dum Dums are very special.

These guys pride themselves on the fact that all their doughnuts are baked instead of fried, and with good reason. I tried a total of five of their crazily tasty doughnuts and tasted the difference in each and every one of them — wait, I’m getting ahead of myself.

It was Capital One Cup final day and I was on my way to see my cousin, his wife and their newborn baby. Seeing as his beloved Chelsea were about to take on Tottenham I figured I’d swing by Dum Dums, and grab a few doughy rings of goodness to devour as we watched my two least favourite teams (I am a Gooner after all) battle it out for England’s least prestigious top flight trophy.

I ended up buying a box of six assorted doughnuts for what could easily be seen as an extortionate £10 (Worth. Every.Penny) when you look at what’s on offer at other places. The six I chose (this is all from memory so I may be wrong) were as follows:

1 Cinnadum (cinnamon)

1 Banoffee

1 White Chocolate & Pistachio

1 Raspberry (maybe Strawberry?)

And seeing as there were only five of the standard “baked” doughnuts (they offer “speciality” doughnuts too) 2 Chocolate Creme

The white chocolate & pistachio and banoffee were quite nice but it’s really hard for me to judge as I’ve never been a massive fan of banoffee (so all you bannoffee lovers out there may fall head over heels for it) and I didn’t really think the white chocolate and pistachio went too well together, but again, they were much more enjoyable than I had first anticipated.

The Raspberry (Strawberry?) was what you could call just a standard doughnut with some pink flavoured icing on top… I say could because, you would be technically correct but oh sooo wrong at the same time. For me this was the doughnut that really made me notice the difference between fried and baked. These gorgeous little bastards had just the right amount of sweetness (for me at least, but I have a very small sweet tooth) and had an almost breadish quality to them… In a very, very good way. The icing didn’t add too much flavour either and kind of hinted the fruitiness (hence why I can’t actually tell which berry it actually was).

The Chocolate Creme was where I had a slight sweetness overload, something that didn’t happen with my cousin or his wife. Surprisingly it wasn’t the chocolate icing which got to me, but the creme in the centre. It was still bloody lovely and even though I could only handle a few bites, had me wondering if I was ever going to look at a Krispie Kreme doughnut the same way again.

But then there was the Cinnadum doughnut. Oh my God. This little fella had all three of us agreeing that he was the king of the box. With a more cinnamon roll flavour and a noticeably thicker (but not heavy) texture the Cinnadum doughnut just hit all the right notes perfectly. The cinnamon was front and centre the second you sank your teeth in, but managed to shy away from being overpowering and the fruity toppings and icing complimented the actual doughnut itself perfectly. I really cannot speak highly enough of this badboy and have no trouble at all calling it my new favourite doughnut.

If you ever find yourself in the Brick Lane area and you’ve stuffed yourself with The Orange Buffalo, Mother Clucker or any of the other amazing eateries in the area, but fancy a spot of dessert, you’d be wise to check out Dum Dums.

I came into this store because the doughnuts looked amazing. They make really interesting looking doughnuts and create cool flavors. I've liked their maple pecan doughnut but I didn't think it was one of the best in London. Their doughnuts are baked and so a bit healthier but also a bit more boring than the traditional ones. Overall, although I like the idea of creating new flavors, I thought these were a bit dry and disappointing.

Dum Dums Donutterie at Box Park is the best place for doughnuts in London in my opinion.

Inside it is pretty small but waiting for you is a collection of amazing doughnuts. They don’t just do jam, plain or sugared they've got strawberry cheesecake, pistachio, cherry glaze and many more. You can either chose a plain doughnut with a fancy topping or go for one with a tasty filling and icing on top. They also make these fancy half croissant/half doughnuts which are also pretty yummy. They are all made fresh on the premises and when they run out, they run out and shut up shop for the day. All the doughnuts are also baked, not fried which adds to their deliciousness.

You can go for just a single doughnut or go for a box. Sometimes we used to go for a box of mixed doughnuts and take it back to uni with us. The guys inside the shop are always really friendly. Definitely worth a visit!

Potentially the best doughnut/cronut in the world - or at least the best one Ive ever eaten.

I unfortunately walk past here very often and have to have the will power to resist one of these doughnuts. They have them on display outside their little pop up store in Box Park, Shoreditch - which makes very good business sense, as they get me every time.

The sell beautiful looking doughnuts as well as these hybrid doughnut/croissants you have surely heard about by now. They are worth the hype and are a must try! Don't mess around and go straight for "The Zebra." Its made from layers of chocolate and normal croissant dough (hence the name) and filled with chocolate butter creme, chocolate ganache and sprinkled with dark chocolate flakes on top. Yes it is as good as it sounds.

I hear the layered white chocolate and strawberry one is good also. The rest look slightly boring in comparison to these two flavours, so I think it will take me awhile to try one of them.

At 3 pound a doughnut its worth every penny. Oh and they are always served with a smile !

Got there at 5pm today really wanted to try the strawberry cronuts but they were sold out so had zebra cronut and my partner had a yum yum. My zebra cronut well size was big its had a nice sugar coating but wasn't as crisp as cocomaya the chocolate mousse was delicious it really did taste nice but cocomaya still win over. My partner yumyum was yumyy with butter scotch cream and the pastry was sweet but not overly sweet and didn't feel greasy. Overall not bad experience but for a place that claims to be best donut in the world not quite there yet would go back but not as often as cocomaya on that note have to say staff was welcoming and friendly

Other than the shape, it's hard to imagine these morsels from heaven have anything to do with the heavy fried pieces of dough I grew up with. Each of these is baked (the "healthy" part stops there) and layered with creme, jams, toppings, you name it - veritable pieces of art! The raspberry is a must try - tart, sweet, creamy

Doughnuts, cronuts, yum yums, duffins, yumdoughs - the world is going crazy for whatever variety and mix of the most indulgent treat on the planet they can get their teeth into.

But in transforming them with better cooking methods and natural ingredients doughnuts - once best known as the staple of dodgy carnival vendors - have now gained a foothold in a more health-conscious world.

At Dum Dum Donutterie in London's Shoreditch the fruits of their labour are not deep fried in an impossibly dank vat of oil, but sprayed with a light coating of sunflower oil and then baked.

Low calorie, with as little as 6gm of fat in some, it replicates the doughnut affect but also allows fruits and chocolate to be mixed in,

which you can't do by frying.

The resulting doughnut is lighter and fluffier, whether it is a traditional variety or one of the semi croissant doughnuts, known as cronuts, that contain as many as 140 laminated layers of folded butter.

It contains less than half the fat, and when you cut them open the cross-section shows how little oil has seeped in around the edges, taking them closer towards being a traditional cake.

According to owner Paul Hurley, hitting on the right amount of oil took a lot of testing (read, eating doughnuts) with too much piling on the calories and too little not achieving the taste people associate with them.

"Are they healthy?" I ask him.

"No," the 33-year-old replies candidly.

But adds: "They are as healthy as we can make them without turning them into something that doesn't resemble a doughnut at all.

"We are trying to create the world's best doughnut. People feel guilty about having them so it's necessary to tick as many boxes as we can to make it healthy.

"We could take the fat right down but it wouldn't taste right."

At Paul's little start-up shopfront in Box Park they have been producing 1,000 doughnuts a day and selling out. On their opening day they shifted 5,000 and their website crashed, demonstrating the huge interest in artisan pastries in the UK at the moment.

Body-beautiful celebrities like Peter Andre and Tom Daly are professed fans, and Dum Dum's (itself named for a hybrid of doughnut and yum yum) has even made one of its line-up an Andre special.

Like a lot of new food ventures Dum Dum's began as a pop-up and word spread through social networking and events, giving them enough pre-orders to warrant a permanent shop front.

"It's an artisan product," says Paul, "But we're having fun with it."

Having tried a few out and taken a box home for my family here is the low-down:

Creme Brûlée: Custard filled with a crunchy caramel glaze this is the shop's best seller and is a bit like biting into a custard toffee apple.

Rasberry Creme: Layered with raspberry preserve and butter creme topped with fresh raspberries it is a fresh, fruity hit.

Pistachio & Pistachio: If you like your nuts this almond creme with fondant and fresh pistachios will be just the thing.

Strawberry Puree Fondant: It looks as sugary as it could possibly be, but the fondant flavouring and colour is attained by using only strawberry puree and lemon juice.

The Zebra: The next biggest seller is this cronut layered with alternating croissant dough and chocolate croissant dough, filled with chocolate butter creme and decorated with dark chocolate. It looks indulgent and it is.

The Croconut: Coconut infused butter creme decorated in dark chocolate and coconut sprinkles, this is a tropical infusion winner.

Chocolate Ganache & Hazelnut: A real winner for any chocolate fans is this rich chocolate ganache with hazelnut topping.

Banoffee: My favourite is this banoffee pie inspired doughnut, full of custard and real banana puree. Dipped in Dulce de Leche and biscuit.

Peter Andre's Yum Yum Dum Dum: Full of Dulce de Leche creme, glazed and drizzled in chocolate, Peter will have to do more ab crunches to work this one off.

The staff were super friendly and there was a good range of choice. This was really delicious, a little on the dry side hence the 4 stars. I've had one from another Dum Dums and I thought the same- great taste, sometimes a little dry. I've been told these are "healthier" than traditional doughnuts as they are baked, not deep fried. I had a cronut, as I wanted to try something new. I would recommend trying, but I don't think I would consistently choose it over classic doughnuts.

Great service and great doughnuts. I had their Yum Yum which had a cream filling of a perfect consistency. I couldn't taste the dulce de leche that much though and the cronut itself was a little heavier than average (because it is baked?). They seem to do a 2 for 1 deal near closing time too

The cronuts here are delicious, the yum yum is my personal favourite. A little on the pricey side yes, but definitely worth it. Also ordered one of their giant doughnuts, and they were extremely quick to respond (their website was not working properly and they needed my collection details). Only criticism (which isn't really a criticism I suppose) is that they often sell out way before closing (3-4 hours!). Understand that overstocking is not good, but 3-4 hours beforehand?!
