I've visited the branch before when they were along Shaftesbury Avenue, usually for a late dinner if I'm still hungry after an event! I like Young Cheng because their food is simple and non-fussy, and of course good value for money!
I usually order the soup noodles with wonton or roasted duck - or sometimes duck AND wanton if I'm feeling extra greedy...
Like most places in Chinatown don't expect super polite service - but as long as the food is good and cheap I don't think many would mind :p
There's lots to choose from the menu, so you'll kind of be spoilt for choice.
I'd recommend a visit :)
The strapline for my blog is ‘finding the best places to splash your cash’. You may think that that means I only go to fine-dining restaurants and hotels with Michelin stars or celebrity chefs. While it’s true that I do get to experience a lot of these places, I also love finding those that are not so well known but provide amazing food at affordable prices. One such place recently was Yeung Cheng, recommended by a fellow foodie we came here after a night wine-tasting in Soho. It’s not the most glamorous of settings, in fact it is pretty ordinary looking but the food is what makes people from all walks of life fill up this restaurant.
We had a quick pre cinema meal at the Young Cheng. The atmosphere was typical of this type of place, full of fast talking waiters ( fast talking to each other in their own language that is ), and tables covered in paper tablecloths. I don't mind as long as the food is good. And good it was. A proper WonTon soup and half of a crispy aromatic duck with pancakes and veggies was all that we wanted. It tasted fresh, crispy, and full of flavour. What more do you need ?
Its food is about the average for china town. But that's not saying much. Decent enough if you are starved for choice and want some Chinese to fill your belly.
Seriously cheap eats. Cheap and tasty and a popular choice for me when I feel like having Chinese food.
The other day we were around Covent Garden and got an urge to get some Dim Sum, so decided to look for options in Chinatown. After a quick research with Timeout and Yelp we ended in one of the Young Cheng places
Young Cheng in the heart of London's Chinatown has been on my radar for a few months ever since Pa Noodles bought some superior take-away Cantonese BBQ there. I finally got round to eating at this restaurant the other week. I was going to order some three
Not so sure if Zomato has got the menu card right! This place is simply AWESOME!! This restaurant was recommended to us by one of our Chinese friends. I have been here several times and have tried a variety of dishes. But never have I come back disappointed. Quick - efficient service and surprisingly for a Chinese restaurant they do it with a smile! It is a little congested but so are most restaurants in Chinatown. But I can ignore anything and everything if the food is good. And Young Cheng does not miss a beat. If you are keen to try their wide range of dimsum variety, make sure you make way into the restaurant during lunch hours because that's when they do it. The dimsums are very good and are quite pocket friendly too. The portions they serve are quite good and so make sure you don't over order! (We have done that quite a few times)All in all a must visit restaurant if you are in Chinatown.
Amazing restaurant with delicious food. we went for dinner at New Young Cheng. The food was so delicious. Being crowded we got a table & staff was helpful to help in our food order. We ordered crispy aromatic duck it was so soft &tasty. Crispy fried soft shell crab this too was yummy 🥰&hot prawn dumplings. It’s a pocket-friendly restaurant so if in London one should try this restaurant 🥰👌❤️.
Me and my friends had a lovely evening here and was pleased to see that they had free water. The chicken curry with some rice cause it was quite spicy. Very nice and central
I have been here with my family before. I went back to the restaurant two days ago at around 9:30 pm. The restaurant is very clean, even though it has been open since the morning. The crispy pork and plain fried rice are must-tries. The staff here are always kind and polite.
Very delicious roast duck noodle and ice lemon tea! Wonderful customer service. Very friendly staff, including Steve, Heen, Tita.
Our first time trying this place on our trip to London. It was so good 😊 the flavours were good the staff were polite and friendly. This is going to be our go to place every time we visit London. Can’t wait to go back in a couple of months!

Absolutely our best meal in London! A must try for China Town. The wait staff were friendly and helpful when ordering. We left stuffed and planning when we would return. Thanks for the great experience!
Very lovely restaurant! Every worker was really friendly and polite. The food was heavily, especially the vegetarian dumplings and the homemade chili sauce are totally recommended. You can find big and small dishes in an appropriate price range. Thanks for this great experience 🤗
If you're seeking an authentic and divine Chinese dining experience, look no further than New Young Cheng, one of London's hidden gems for the BEST dim sum. This underrated and often empty restaurant deserves far more recognition for its incredible and authentic Chinese cuisine.
During my visit, I had the "Xiao Long Bao Shanghai Pork Dumplings" (£5.20) and they were simply perfect. The "Minced Prawn & Pork Stuffed in Deep Fried Dough Stick" (£5.20) was delightfully flavourful and unique, while the "Prawn and Pork Dumplings with Peanuts and Oyster Sauce" (£5.20) were ambrosial and authentic. The "Szechuan Hot & Sour Soup" (£5.20) was a true representation of authentic Chinese cuisine, leaving me craving more. The "Special Roast Platter" (£15.80) offered the perfect combination of crackling siew yoke, duck, and charsiew, boasting tenderness and crunch, elevated with a sinful sauce. Lastly, the "Golden Egg Fried Rice" (£3.80) was fragrant and delicious, pairing amazingly with the Special Roast Platter.
Don't miss out on this AMAZING Chinese experience! A definite must-try for London dim sum lovers. Full review @jagglet on Instagram.
Really surprised to see a 3.7 average at this place. We’ve just had the most delicious chicken and black bean sauce dish, with rice, and chicken wings. The egg fried rice was particularly good and so tasty, not at all greasy. The experience and food were divine, after a friendly greeting and impeccable service. Ignore the negative comments and support this place. You won’t regret it, we’ll definitely return next time we’re in London.
This restaurant was excellent, great service and attention. It was very friendly, and the food was delicious. We were here after the theater and many places were close but this restaurant saved the day. Hard working people and fantastic options. Is not expensive and is very close to picadilly, Leicester square and Tottenham court road. Location: China Town.
Very good, highly recommended!
Our favourite Chinese restaurant ever. My son absolutely loves it here and we go every time we visit London. The food is spectacular, and the staff are honestly the kindest people, always going above and beyond to ensure you have the best experience. The service is impeccable and the honey and black pepper chicken is a MUST.
What a gem, had a fantastic meal, the food is great and the staff are absolute professionals. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, in fact we returned the following evening and were not disappointed
Amazing food and the best service I’ve had in a while! The ice chicken dish was absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend that dish if you’re coming here, a bit on the pricey side but well worth it in my opinion.
Such a nice dining experience! Very clean and kind staff and such amazing rich food. Would definitely recommend!
