After reading about this location online, we made a reservation right away. This restaurant is small, and a little difficult to find, but it adds to the charm. We were sat at the bar in front of the grill and it was just such a wonderful experience. The food food, the preparation, the atmosphere, it was our favourite stop of the day. OKAN offers a delicious meal and an atmosphere that transports you right to Osaka. Being within walking distance of Waterloo Station, we plan to come back on all of our future London trips.
The food is very very local. The decorations and food are very Japanese which is so cool. Every dishes are freshly made. We have ordered quite a variety of ranges which I think overall is good. There are a kind of sauce that they used I'm not really a fan of it otherwise I enjoyed every cuisines with them. And the staff are excellent, so friendly and polite!!! Really respectful 🙏🏼 A good place to go with a bunch of friend to enjoy an oriented food.
Must have okonomiyaki in London!! 🤩
We tried a few of their dishes but the foods I recommend are the tamagoyaki (japanese style omelette) & yaki soba noodle wrapped in thin egg. 🍳
Their japanese citrus yuzu drink is really refreshing! 🍹
We also noticed that they also do special items which aren’t on the menu like oden 🍢 (just need to look out for signs by the kitchen area!)
I love how you can watch the chefs make some of the food! The decor & atmosphere makes you feel like you really are in Japan 🇯🇵
Definitely need to reserve a table in advance especially if you want to go during the weekend as it’s a small place and it gets busy. The staff are lovely; would definitely go again! 💯

I recently visited OKAN and had the okonomiyaki and pork gyoza dumplings. Both dishes were delicious and I would highly recommend them.
The okonomiyaki was a savoury Japanese pancake made with cabbage, flour, eggs, and squid. It was cooked as expected - crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The flavours were well-balanced and it was topped with a generous amount of bonito flakes, mayonnaise, aonori (seaweed), and fried egg.
The pork gyoza dumplings were also very good. They were perfectly cooked and had a nice, crispy exterior. The filling was juicy and delicious.
The service at OKAN was also great. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they were happy to answer any questions I had about the menu.
Overall, I had a great lunch experience at OKAN. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Japanese meal.
I would also like to mention that OKAN has a wide variety of other Japanese dishes on the menu, including fried noodles, donburi rice, and Japanese curry. So, whether you are a fan of okonomiyaki or just a selection of Japanese tapas, or if you are looking to try something new, I am sure you will find something to your liking at OKAN.
Absolutely loved our experience at Okan South Bank. The food was authentic and delicious, transporting us right to the heart of Japan. What made it even more memorable was the warmth and friendliness of the people there. Highly recommended for a genuine Japanese experience!

I order beef okonomiyaki, it is done fairly authentic, though I wouldn’t say it’s impressive.

Very authentic Japanese place. I'm from Osaka Japan and being here in Okan felt like being home. Reasonable price and everything was so tasty. We particularly loved okonomiyaki & vegan kimchi. All the staff were so lovely and friendly. Not a big place so make sure to book a table.
Delicious food, excellent service and ambience. The okonomiyaki is amazing, and having tried most things on the menu I can say that everything is really good. Cool cafeteria vibes and really friendly service
