The food was exceptional ,the owner was very friendly and invited us in from outside , advised us on the ingredients in the dishes and even customised elements there and then for us. The food was bursting with flavour and the ambiance was brilliant.I would recommend this place to anyone for good cuisine.

Can't recommend this place enough! Food was amazing, atmosphere was incredible and the owner made sure we felt like home. Everything gives off that Latin-American feeling. Loved it.

Absolutely wonderful. I went for the BBQ ribs which were BEYOND succulent. William was a perfect host with the most and I'll be back to try the Sea Bream as recommended.

This restaurant is amazing. The food is fresh, healthy and delicious. They serve amazing brunches, all home cooked and there are both English and Colombian options. The Colombian breakfasts are served with freshly squeezed juice and the coffee is really high quality. The portions are very big and the restaurant itself is relaxing and the décor is beautiful.. The owner is passionate about what he does and is very friendly and lovely. I would really recommend for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Great prices, delicious food, excellent service. Couldn't have asked for a better place for a Sunday night meal with friends. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere was great. Oh, and did I mention the delicious food?!

I've dined at The Provincial several times now and it never fails to impress. The service can be a bit slow at times, but the decor is relaxed and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The prices are reasonable and the portions generous, and everything I've tried has been a hit, particularly the ceviche, ribs and chicken stew. While I was somewhat sceptical upon our first visit, I was quickly convinced after being welcomed and trying the food. Definitely a favourite local place in Brixton and well worth a visit if you're in the area.

My wife had been here before and really enjoyed it so we decided to give it a go. We arrived quite early. Even so the interior was full bar one table which we bagged. There was a good selection of Tapas which were mainly Spanish and main courses were South American. We shared the chorizo in wine, ham croquettes and the cod fish cakes in a ginger sauce. All were good although the outside of the fish cakes were a tad leathery.

For mains I had lamb in coriander with chips and salad. The lamb was wonderful and the chips the best I have eaten in years - large and crisp and golden. My wife had the pork belly with rice which was (almost) as good. My youngest daughter had the pulled pork which was good but a little too salty. My eldest daughter had the seafood with rice which looked and tasted wonderful. We drank the house red which was a smooth rioja.

By this time the restaurant was heaving with at least ten tables taken outside despite the evening being a little chilly. Two waitresses and a waiter managed to deal with all this with charm and flair. Our total bill was under £80.00 before adding a large well earned tip.

Hands down my favourite place in Brixton. Amid the polished yuppieness of Brixton Village is this straight forward BYO restaurant serving bumper portions of top quality dishes. Am confident everything on the menu is decent (don't let my shoddy pictures be an indication of taste) though the sea food plate (glorious chips) & the Perivian rice dish stand out. Ace all round.

What initially caught my attention about this place was the cozy decor and the cute beauty seated at one of  table eating and reading a book.  Now why that wasn't enough to hook me once I read the menu I was truly intrigued.  And guess what...I'm so glad I followed my intuition about place,  not only was the food delicious but the owner extremely helpful and pleasant.  He suggested a stewed chicken dish for my mother and fish for me after taking our preferences and promised both would be free of charge if we didn't like.  Now that's confidence in ya cooking for you.  Boy was he spot on, both were excellent!!!  I also had 2 glasses of Sangria, which were delicious and deceivingly strong as I left with a nice buzz.   To top the day off the when questioned the owner provided some very insightful facts about both Colombian and British life.  I'll be back again tonight to try another suggested dish.  Defiantly my favorite restaurant in the Market thus far!! Kudos to the owner!!!

This awesome little restaurant is probably my favourite find in Brixton Village. The owner is super smiley and friendly, and the food is brilliant and reasonably priced.

I've now been twice, and will be back as soon as I can. With a huge array of tapas and mains (and a tantalizing special of £36 for 6 tapas and a litre of sangria), you can eat for days and not cover the entire menu. Here's a review of the dishes I've tried, starting with my favourites:

1. The ribeye: excellently cooked, tender, juicy and slathered in flavourful provencal sauce - and at only £12 for a massive portion(with golden fries andsalad to boot)

2. The aubergine and nuts tapas - rich and wholesome. Order a bit of soft fluffy bread to go with it and I promise you won't be disappointed

3. The goats cheese torrada (not sure if I spelled that right)... Grilled vegetables and goats cheese... it's not complicated, just hearty and delicious

4. The smokey onion and egg chips - sounds odd, tastes magnificent. Deeply smokey flavour which turns ordinary fries into a taste adventure

We had loads more and everyone loved it, including the pork belly, chorizo in wine, spicy ribs, octopus, vegetarian platter... It's just crazy good. And the owner is such a legend. He encouraged us to go buy our drinks at the cheaper wine store because, and I quote, he "just wants people to try his food".

So go do it. Have the ribeye.

It's always packed in Brixton Market and you generally have to queue at the weekend then wait a while to eat or drink anything - not a problem, there's a great atmosphere but not ideal after working late and being starving to the point of angry. Enter the Provincial!

It had a great looking menu, and empty seats! It also had a 6 tapas and jug of sangria for £35 - well why not.

Winey chorizo, big tomato-saucey meatballs and creamy goat's cheese croquettes were delightful, grilled veg in basil oil were overcooked and swimming in the oil, and sweet potato and groat's cheese gratin was not so much gratin, more shrivelled chips with a bit of goat's cheese chucked on top. Garlicky prawns were also very tasty.

Will all the juices and sauces we needed some bread to do some mopping - they must get it from somewhere else in the market as and when, as it then appeared a good 10 minutes after we'd finished. They were very apologetic, no biggie!

The sangria was also great, not too sweet and there was loads of it.

Overall good dishes on the whole, service hit and miss but they're sweet. Good value too.

Lovely homely atmosphere and food. Good size portions, really enjoyed the kick of the spicy ginger sauce. Slightly jealous of my friend who ordered the Lomo Saltado as it was very tasty! I will definitely be getting that next time.

My favourite restaurant in Brixton. William is so friendly, and the food is absolutely incredible and such good value. They’ve recently moved from Market Row to Brixton Village, so don’t miss it! The only lentils I’ve ever loved. Can’t recommend enough!

I wish I had taken photos of the food but instead I got straight to tucking in - we went for six small dishes rather than main size portions between the two of us. If I wasn't pregnant then we would have gone for the six small plates and sangria deal, which is very much a bargain. But this place isn't just about the food. It's also about the staff - I wish I had asked the name of the man serving us. I'm pretty sure he owns the place and has a lot of repeat customers because he made the experience one we're desperate to repeat with friends in tow soon.

The Provincial is an authentic Latin American restaurant featuring a rich fusion of Peruvian, Colombian, and Dominican dishes. This cozy, casual, tasty, colorful, and friendly restaurant is one of the best and my favourite restaurants in the multiethnic and eclectic Brixton, a real gem. William, owner of this amazing restaurant, who personally and happily runs this business, is so smiley and friedly and food he cooks is so is brilliant and reasonably priced. I recommend you order anything suggested by William from Ceviche to Cassava.

The Provincial is one of Brixton's best. It's definitely not a hidden gem with owner William at the helm. If you fancy brunch, you won't be disappointed with their Afro-Combian/Peruvian menu offerings. Try "The Colombian"!

Dinner here was one of the tastiest meals I've had in my entire time in London. Our table split a few starters and mains and each dish was so uniquely flavored and delicious. The owner was very friendly and checked in with us to make sure we understood what was in each of the dishes and the spice levels were working well. I can't recommend this place highly enough and also can't wait to go back soon!
