Very nice place, friendly staff and good creations. Not too expensive considering the area which is a plus. Their brown bread flavoured ice cream is a must try
LOVE LOVE LOVE the brown bread ice cream here. Anyone that comes here has to ask for a scoop. The waffles however are tiny for that price. They give half only but charge the same as any other place or even more.
If you love your deserts or your hot drinks or milkshakes then do come and check this place out, based in Bethnal Green all within walking distance from the station and very easy to find as well!
Motown was not what I had expected it to be, before even going there I honestly thought it would be an average desert place, but I was surprised when I visited the place yesterday with my friend.Ā
There's so much great things about this little desert spot, I don't have anything bad to say about this place, I do know that anytime I'm craving for deserts I sure will make the trip back to visit again.Ā
The desert tastes great, I had opted for the carrot cake which was perfect and was moist; all the cakes looked great and I felt I was spoiled for choice, like a kid at a candy shop! My friend had decided to get the hot chocolate and Motown offers two types of hot chocolate; one which is made from ice cream or the other made from chocolate! So many great options to eat away those cravings!
Apart from the food being great, the staff are very friendly, so great customer service goes a long way with first expressions of the place! You also have free wifi; so, great for when you reception might not be great or when your running low on data!
The atmosphere of the place is relaxing and comforting, which I guess is helped with the funky decor of the place; you get a different vibe from this place compared to the average desert place. It is definitely a place you can get away from the crazy world out there to enjoy deserts with loved ones! Ā
Take a look at the photo's to get a glimpse of the funky decor I am talking about and take yourself there to see for your self topped with a nice desert to enjoy it with!
I happened to try this place recently and well, it was quite an experience. Though this place specializes in desserts but the overall meal is awesome as well. The desserts are excellent, especially the ice cream, the beast I have ever had. The ambience is just fine, in fact a little understated for the quality of food offered here.
This was my second visit to the place and I was equally impressed i must say.Went with family and the food was good value for money. the desserts were amazing and we all enjoyed a hearty meal. Would recommend to all, guess the place gets really full on weekends.
We had been walking a long time, and needed a place to relax. On seeing the window displays, I was immediately enticed by the lovely cakes and decided to go in. My sister had a coffee, which she thoroughly loved, and I ordered two cakes, because it was a very difficult choice. The cake was presented in a beautiful fashion, and the service was also spot-on. I will definitely come here to have more cake.
The quality of the desserts that these guys provided was awesome , I tasted their brownies and they were awesome.
The very next day I took a friend and we had waffles which were nice too. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.
The great part is that this place is open till 12 midnight so you can go for a walk and have a great time here.
This place serves some really delicious desserts but on a rather expensive side. The staff is also a bit cold but I must say the ice-cream that I had there was just amazing. If you are planning to visit this place, then don't forget to try their brown bread ice-cream. It is really good and you will definitely get the value for your money.
This place offers the creamiest and most tasty ice cream ever! The two scoops you get by paying three pounds are filling for the tummy. I do claim that this place is my 'go to' place for some yummy desserts. This place is pure indulgence of pleasures and a luxurious treat for the sweet tooth.
This place is a must visit in my opinion. The service here is excellent and one cannot have any problems. The people are very sweet and helpful. I must say the desserts are delicious and they do not contain any artificial ingredients or flavors! However, the sweetness content is rather high in most of it!
Great cakes and prices!
A friend of mine that lives in Bethnal Green first introduced me to Motown desserts. This is place left me totally surprised. They have a lot of options and everything you read in their menu sounds amazing.Ā
The idea being you'd come back later for another dessert. In fact, you will risk to not being able to stop eating. We did, amazing cakes!Ā
We were presented with a menu full of stuff and I got so confused that it took me 15 minutes before I was able to decide what to have. I ended up having a piece of coco cake that was lovely.Ā
Any plate is presented with care and piece of cake comes with some fruits.Ā
The interior is nice and relaxing. Prices are fair for what you get.Ā
Ā This is one of those places that I will advise without hesitation
Everyone loves a good desert, but for some reason we donāt seem to go out for it enough. Here is the perfect place to start skipping the dinner and making a meal out of desert! The menu has something for everyone, too many choices for me who has a sweet tooth like no other.
By sweet tooth I mean an obsession with all things chocolate. I really tried to branch out here and order something different but I couldnāt face it so I stuck with the classic brownie. Aptly named Soul Food, as I believe chocolate is good for the soul, this desert sounded too good to pass up. It consisted of chocolate brownie with chocolate ice cream, strawberries (makes the desert a healthy option), chocolate sauce and almonds. The brownie was gooey and perfect and would have been great even without the added extras, which made it a meal in itself. Worth every penny of the Ā£6.
The interior is painted in bright clashing colours, which give the place a fun atmosphere. The staff; were pleasant enough.
I was reluctant to enter as I was after a good coffee, friends wanted to try it out, but I was certain that I wasn't going to be served one.
Well, don't judge a book by it's cover.... Motown serve Monmouth coffee would you believe, made perfectly well too!!!! Brownies was served beautifully, warmed with cream and strawberry too...so yummy!!!
I totally recommend this place, it's an hidden gem, staff were very helpful and friendly, toilets beautifully clean, nice music, comfortable seating at the back. Prices incredibly reasonable. Excellent service, I really can't say more, I will return.
Thank you š¼
Always come here for a break from uni as it's so local. The ice cream shakes here are amazing especially the honey comb. The waffles could be bigger in portion though for the price paid especially when compared to the sizes provided by other dessert places in east London. The music choice here is amazing and I usually go early so the setting is perfect when I have the whole floor to myself.
Nice save when we were searching for late night sugar fix. Old skool caramel slice from 80s was on point, if horribly overpriced. Nice selection of ice creams. Cool glass floor intersection to the back of restaurant which you can see down into some cool memorabilia 20 feet down. Check out the photos. Ice cream flavours were as you would expect from a semi hipster location

We were just strolling along looking for a place for dessert and this seemed perfect. I had a carrot and orange cake with vanilla icecream and my friend had a pecan pie. The carrot cake was delicious and the vanilla icecream to die for. It has a cool floor while on the way to seating. Interior a bit plain but good desserts.
Very delicious and good price. We got the special cookie and ice cream, it was amazing perfect softness yet not too raw cookie dough. Mmm and the coffeee was good too.
Nice place with a large basement, which is good for groups. Lots of dessert options and all looked very nice including my chocolate brownie. The brownie came warm with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, cream and a sliced strawberry....tasted very nice...not bad for Ā£6.49 considering the area.
Knocking a star as it was boiling hot in the basement to the point we had to ask for them to turn the air con off which waa blowing hot air. Took a while to cool down.
Really friendly staff and good service.
An interesting selection of ice creams. The smoothies and juices are refreshing. The dessert pictured is: Cinnamon Funk (with brown bread ice cream instead of apple crumble).
They also play really good music! Nice, relaxing ambience...
Really cool place! Definitely make a stop there amazing ice creams, really good homemade cake. The shop owner was super friendly and we had a chat about baking and even gave me a tip on the perfect red velvet, which has been difficult to make! My boyfriend had a mocha and he said it was the best mocha he's ever had, no burny taste and very well mixed chocolate and coffee flavour, rather than the chocolate being dumped at the bottom.
Also amazing motown music and nice quirky decor
They serve Monmouth coffee. One of the best in uk. The crepes was amazing. Best place for dessert.
Really enjoyed Motown, had meetings and catch ups with friends and family, great vibes, dessert and service. At the moment Motown is closed not sure when it will open.
Comfortable food and setting. Not the best custard and tart but it's ok
Cosy little dessert and coffee shop. Absolutely adore the desserts and ice creams here, my favourite being the endless love, super yummy if you love red velvet cake!
The presentation is terrible. I went there because of the high reviews but as I walk in I'm greeted by two bored guys in an empty place. The ice cream flavors are kept in a plastic container, the labels are hand written on irregularly cut cardboard and the price is rather high for what it looks like. But the ice cream is one of the best I had in London. Creamy and rich in flavor, you won't find most traditional flavors but some interesting combinations, try apple crumble, amazing!
Please shoot some diabetes straight down my veins that was marvellous and I am high on sugar. Warm gooey cookie dough with melting ice cream on top. They were out of a few flavours but I cannot blame them. Also had a bite if the waffle and ice cream. Would recommend of you're looking for a decadent dessert to fill your soul and your glucose levels š
My favourite dessert place. Absolutely love the pecan tart sundae (I think its called "top of the charts" or something). They do the best peanut butter and brownie milkshake as well. The Bangladeshi worker at the Bethnal Green branch is very friendly and welcoming and he always remembers my order šš¼ definitely recommend
A nice small dessert place. They have a good selection of ice cream, waffles, milkshakes and cakes.
All the food was very tasty.
The prices are quite reasonable.
The design of the place is cute. They have a basement downstairs with extra space.
