The Railway Tavern is exactly the kind of pub you want as your local. Dark furnishing gives that traditional English pub vibe and well priced food. The menu isn't anything special as far as pub food goes but has enough variation to suit most meat eaters, although veggies might struggle for options here. The jerk chicken burger is recommended from me, and you can order some tasty little bar snacks if you're having a drink - pork pies and scotch eggs always get a thumbs up from my mates.
One thing that's a little bit different about The Railway Tavern is the traditional pub game by the entrance, although I say that without any idea what kind of game it actually is. At first it looks like a medieval torture device / adult toy but we worked it out to be some kind of skittles with a swinging stick on a chain. Be careful not to hit anyone on the head, and do let me know if you work out what it is from my awful photo below...
Great Pub - old styling and quirky with a great beer garden space at the back which is lit up on a night. The staff are always fun but professional and they really look after their beers! Great selection of beer too. Can't comment on the food as never eaten there.
My regular & favourite pub in the area. Really cosy little pub garden out back; lovely, if slightly odd interior; walls lined with games; friendly, relaxed staff. Just a thoroughly comforting and unpretentious place.
Warm, friendly pub with a great range of ales and a very knowledgeable staff. Warning - it's all about the ales and doesn't serve Guiness 😒 The decor is amazing, the staff are brilliant and it had fun quiz nights and is dog friendly!
The food is decent... not brilliant. My burger was SO overdone it was just sad. Lovely beer garden though. Worth a stop in.
Really cool pub! Indoors it feels like time stopped and it’s really quirky. Staff was friendly! Outdoor beer garden it’s really cool too.. shame I didn’t see it when I arrived.. recommended!
Nice pub with friendly staff, not far from The Broadway and Clock Tower. The buffalo wings with blue cheese sauce and whitebait was great. Burger was very sizable however the chef may have forgotten to season the patty which was a little disappointing. The chips were great, I wasn't able to finish them so doggy bagged them and were still awesome when reheated 👍🏼
Will definitely revisit to check out the beer garden

Very chill spot. With small oddities splattered across to catch your eyes on. The staff are friendly and the food is pretty decent. Their tripled fried chips are a nice step out of the usual carb you get. You get loads of board games to play with as well.
Lovely little quirky pub, full of random pictures and memorabilia.
Stopped here for a roast dinner on a Sunday as I’m on a mission to find the best Sunday roast in London (check out my reviews for some of the best). I had the roast pork and my friend had the roast half chicken. Both were nice, the roast potatoes were delicious, perfectly crunchy outside and fluffy on the inside. The pork itself was ok, I much prefer a chunk of pork loin with the crackling on the top, but this was sliced pork and a little over cooked, not too much flavour unfortunately.
The sticky toffee pudding was ok too. Not very warm and a little dry, but certainly filled a hole. The staff are super friendly and very efficient.
The open log fire is a massive bonus. Would come back for this alone.
Very nice and cosy Pub with friendly staff and quick service. Also small tables outside in summer. Just bought beer
Lovely, lovely Beetroot Wellington. Tried it for the first time and it was truly amazing! Yorkshire pudding on the Lamb Roast was burned and the gravy way too salty but that will not stop us coming back...
Food was a level above your average pub food. Pub is fairly standard. Deifnitely check it out for the curries and small plates.
They have recently gotten a new kitchen and menu in (26-4-23) and we have been twice. The tiffin tin curries are brilliant and very good price. Roasts are good too. Well done guys
The railway tavern is a perfect stop after a walk along the old railway line. We were heading into town to a coffee shop but when we saw the coffee sign outside we just had to go in. The ladies behind the bar were super friendly. We ended up ordering two coffees and a gin and tonic which came to our table.
The decor is unique with model ships and aeroplanes hanging from the ceiling and a fish made of welded cutlery. All in all a good experience.
Great boozer, relaxed and friendly, the extra star will arrive when the loud wooden game at the front is destroyed!
One of the few old boozers still around in the area. Ok beers, a few old games (many of which have seen better days), tables outside at the back and the service-lane to the side. Food isn't great (hence the four stars) but there is a radically-priced decent menu (if, and that's a big caveat, you actually get what you order), good selection of normal drinks -nothing too fancy- though the mulled wine ran out..
Housing an arts/craft Christmas market in the top bit of the pub (and outside) for a few hours on a weekend is a brilliant idea as it gets walk-ins then ordering a drink, but it did cut down on available seating and with the side-door open the pub was freezing!
Dog and kids friendly (ask for the children's menu!) but it looked like the staff would rather be elsewhere; I was greeted with a huge yawn and had to make the first move.
Good food, but a bit loud. Have to order your food at the bar, but they deliver it to the table. I would eat there again.
Fudizm is in da house. Railway tavern was always very welcoming but now they have amazing food!!!! From tapas to roasts do not miss out! This is the best food spot in the neighbourhood 😋
Really cool spot... Lovely decor, lots of interesting pieces on the walls and ceiling. Friendly staff. They serve hot and cold drinks. Nice location.
