Excellent food from the indian subcontinent but only for the meat lovers. Veg food is below average. The Biryani's and the kebabs are awesome, so is the curries. If you are in the mood for some tasty Indian food, do visit this place, it will not disappoint you.
Superb food. Love their Panner Mircha and dal makhni.. But I would recommend to ask them to make it spicy if you really want to taste Indian version. Missing old staff which used to be more friendly and polite. Over all it's a nice place to visit once.
Food was great, recommend the salmon ajwani, delicious. However, the service was on the slow side, and the ambience was ruined by loud and increasingly drunken city 'types'...
Never disappointed. Being a city monkey with a penchant for late hours and a love of spice means I've often had to resort to Brick Lane or the rather unfriendly and unreliable Mehek.
I went here with a gang from work after a friends reccomendation and have never eaten curry anywhere else near the square mile since. The food is always superb and the staff very friendly. I would heartily reccomend the Ajwani Salmon starter, by far the best way salmon can be cooked. I would warn that the food can be quite spicy so don't order the 2 chili options unless you like a bit of burn.
Always excellent food, good choice, friendly staff. A must if you're in the area!
Friendly and fast service with delicious Idian dishes in one of the nicest areas in London
Lunch for two Friday 24 September 2016 just a little above 40 quid, bargain! Leaving aside some silly comments about service it was very good indeed. Treat the staff with dignity and respect and you will be well rewarded with fast efficient delivery of the food you desire. Snapping your fingers does not lead to snappy service but understanding that rapid delivery of your food is not easy in a short lunchtime period helps. Lunch for two and a very pleasant chat to one of the co-owners brought rich rewards; this is a very fine Indian Restaurant. My chum and I have visited Curry Leaf East several times over many years and it has always been excellent value and a pleasure; well done.
Have visited the Curry Leaf previously and always been satisfied. Even yesterday with it being extremely busy with Christmas merry makers, the service was fast and attentive. The menu has the normal offerings with a bias towards southern Indian dishes. Will happily return in the future.
Overall, Curry Leaf exceeded my expectations. The food was somewhere between good and very good and the prices were very reasonable. I’ve never understand how places get away with what they charge for naan, but that’s pretty standard, so there it is.
Be aware that this restaurant is semi-swanky. I went in sporting jeans and a tee and felt a bit out of place (only because of the decor, not at all by the staff who were very welcoming).
In my first trip to London I decided to try an Indian restaurant close to my hotel. I was not disappointed with Curry Leaf East as the food was flavorful and well spiced. Lamb biryani was particularly good and the lamb was very tender. The atmosphere is cozy and the servers are deliberate and polite. Prices are reasonable and portions are perfect.
Found The Curry Leaf after a Christmas party and decided to try it. The restaurant was surprisingly empty for a Saturday evening, with only one couple dining in.
After ordering we were all surprised by a pleasantly big starter, which was very tasty and satisfying. Next was the main, which (according to the waiter) contained no food colouring. The result was a creamy looking Chicken Korma which tasted as smooth as it looked. The rest of the dishes we ordered were just a lovely.
The service was quick and efficient, and the pricing for London was very good, considering the quality of the food. The decor of the restaurant was also lovely, giving it a lovely warm atmosphere.
Overall is definitely come here again, and look forward to doing so.
Good value and pretty high quality dishes, it's a good place to know about if you're in or around Moorgate. The service was fair, although on my most recent visit they were definitely rushing us out well before 11 on a Wednesday which mildly tainted an otherwise excellent visit.
I was standing outside this restaurant when I could smell the food coming from inside. At that instant I knew it was authentic Indian and went in to give it a try. Didn't disappoint. On top of that excellent service. The only issue being it's a bit expensive.
This is the best Indian restaurant in the city. The food is truly delicious and service good. A hidden gem in the city. Highly recommend. Well worth taking the walk out of the hustle and bustle of Shoreditch and Liverpool st. Fab!!
Very tasty food. Not the usual but definitely better. Good service, attentive without being intrusive. First class restaurant, would recommend
Very delicious food nice decor. I had Lamb Sula for starters and Lal Maans for mains, both are awesome. It was pretty quiet for a Saturday evening maybe for it's location in an official area. Prices are bit high but I am happy to pay for tasty food.
I'll be back soon.
