This place is brilliant, it wasn’t in here for a really long time and I couldn’t work out why, fish restaurants are hard to come by sometimes but this one never disappoints. Consistently great food
Out to Sariyer Balik, top Turkish fish restaurant in the area. Food is smashing: excellent mezzes and slamming fish dishes. Mop up with top notch bread, wash down with a wee 2/3 pint Efes. Keep an eye on the price as it can stack up a little and isn't as cheap as it perhaps once was. Behave well and Bayesh & Jamal might even pour you a cheeky Raki shot at the end of yer meal.

Went here with two friends after reading about it in Great Little Place email. What a gem. Just around the corner from Newington Green, this is a great value, great quality, local seafood restaurant. It's not posh, but the service is super friendly. The owner's brother spoke to us at length and recommended mixed starter (hummus and bread, prawns in chilli, fried anchovies, squid) and then for main a bowl of salad accompanied by a trio of chargrilled fish (seabass, bream and mackerel). All fantastic and washed down with a bottle of not bad Turkish wine. We were also treated to some Raki (not sure on that) and the ultra strong, gritty Turkish coffee. For £22 a head in London, this is pretty close to unbeatable value for seafood of this quality. Definitely going back. Highly recommend for anyone who likes seafood and would urge people who usually like their red meat to go and give something different a try.
Although we went there for some snacks rather than a main meal, the service was excellent even though Barış Bey was alone. The products were very fresh and delicious. We plan to try their live music nights and main courses in the near future.
Where could you walk into a restaurant, ask what fish is on the menu today, and be told it's so fresh that the owner is still prepping it for the display fridge? Sariyer Balik is where. No need to even look at the menu. Complimentary meze while waiting for our shared plate of mackerel and the best red mullet ever! Turkish rosé on a par with French counterpart without the huge price mark-up (declined the raki but each to their own! 😄)
Been my go to fish restaurant since young. Mine & my family’s favourite, various options of hot & cold starters. Excellent service, always ! Can’t recommend this place enough 😍.
The owner Barish is also the chef and cooks fantastic sea bass with butter and tomato. The best sea bass I ever had.

The attentive and courteous staff promptly greeted me and guided me to my table, ensuring that my comfort was of the utmost importance.

The presentation of the dishes was nothing short of exquisite, with the vibrant hues of the bisque perfectly complementing the delicate garnish. For the hot starters I chose the calamari and prawns. For the main course, I selected the sea bass, a dish that promised to showcase the restaurant's expertise in preparing seafood.
