This quirky pub in London comes into its own during summer, as the garden rooftop begins to bloom. Bright flowers, tall palms and crawling vines take over the Faltering Fullback‘s outdoor terrace, making it the perfect respite from the urban jungle that is London.
This bar is a hidden gem if you are looking for a great terrace this summer. You will find a 3 floor 'garden' full of flowers and separated areas with tables for 2 or more people. It is a very busy place and they don't accept reservations so it is recomendable to get there early as possible. The staff are very friendly and the Thai food served, very tasty. The only downfall is that there is only one toilet but this won't keep me from visiting the bar again.
If you haven't visited the Faltering Fullback yet, wait for the next sunny day and go! The outside area is amazing! One of the most beautiful and relaxed garden pubs you can find. They do not take reservations and it tends to be extremely busy, so I ca only recommend to arrive early!
They have a good choice of drinks and a little Thai Restaurant window, which served very good Thai Pub Food. The Pad Thai never disappoints. Service is fast and efficient.
This hidden gem is definitely my favourites!
Great pub with drinks very well priced. The outside area is an exciting maze. Definitely one for the summer and for friends and people. I've heard good things about the Thai food here and within walking distance from Finsbury Park station.
One of my favorite pubs in the world. Faltering Fullback is the perfect place to go and enjoy a beer and some thai food with friends. The sports feel mixed with the serene gardens to relax in upstairs make for an interesting and welcoming hangout spot that makes you feel at home in Finsbury Park. Whether its rain or shine, the crowd at Fullback is always smiling and staff are happy and quick to assist customers in any way possible. Definitely one of the top local pubs in London.
Highly recommended.
Wonderful garden area (think the Ewok village in Star Wars) and for the sports enthusiasts, you're definitely catered for in this department too.
As far as food is concerned, when busy you can order from a local pizza that delivers too.
Reasonably priced pints and fantastic thai food! I was also impressed by the layout of the beer garden, great way to maximise space and despite looking quite intimidating, is actually super easy to navigate!
The Faltering Fullback, a wonderful pub on Ennis road, Highbury way. The building and all the terraces are just amazing. The beer and the service are both outstanding. Was the fullback playing rugby 🏉 or football ⚽? I don't know and I hope they play both. The place is a wonderful maze of discovery and smiles. A huge asset for both the local community and doubtless the many visitors especially on match days. A priceless place!!
This is a great pub within a short walk of the tube. It has a great entertaining space and decent outdoor seating.
I went to watch an Irish rugby match, the atmosphere was electric, however marked down due to how so busy it got.
There was a queuing system before I arrived, but once the game started, it felt a little claustrophobic, this is my opinion and if you are good with crowds, this wouldn't be a bother for you.
I ate before the game started, the food was incredible and very quick for a busy pub. It was value for money in a venue in this location.
The bar was small, but the staff were really friendly and I was served quickly, but once the game started, couldn't get to the bar as I placed myself too deep into the crowd, but I saw a steady stream of people getting drinks, so seems the service remained grand.
Security were nice and maintained a good atmosphere.
All in all I would go back
Pretty decent little boozer, although little is a poor choice of words - the inside is actually rather big - with multiple rooms where sport is often played (Mainly a rugby bar) and a lovely winding balcony beer garden area if you want some air.
Drinks were generally quick to order from the bar but there is also the option of table service via a QR code.
Can't speak on the food in general as I didn't eat anything aside from nicking a friend's chip, but that one chip was pleasingly crispy with a lovely fluffiness inside. Would recommend grabbing a bowl if peckish.
Really nice way to spend the afternoon especially if the weather is decent.
Best pub quiz in the area every Monday. Really nice Thai food and a lovely garden. Great to watch football inside with great atmosphere or have a relaxing drink outside
We have been visiting for about 2 years every now and then. The place is massive. There are some small tables for a bit more private chat. Then there's a large hall with plenty of seats that's perfect for watching sports.
The most unique about Faltering Fullback is their set of little terraces with multiple levels surrounded by lots of different plants. This lovely beer garden really is the reason we sometimes decide to come here even though they don't serve any cocktails. The pub also doesn't allow dogs. These are two reasons we don't come as often.
Staff are always polite and friendly. Prices are normal, and bathrooms are taken care of.
Looking forward trying their food one day. In summary, this is a great pub in Finsbury Park to bring or recommend to friends.
Amazing roof garden that is a bit of a tardis with its multiple levels and lots of seating - great place to come for summer drink in the Finsbury Park area.
Really good pretty affordable Thai food - good veggie options too! Live Irish band was amazing, lots of singing and dancing and good atmosphere. The beer garden is incredible too - rambling balconies with plants and bric-a-brac. Would highly recommend
Great atmosphere for the football. One of the best pints of Guinness I've had in London. Calamari was a bit of a let down though, but nice chips 👍
What a cool place!
I can imagine on a night when there is rugby this place would be heaving.
GAA on at the front, football on in the cave-like back room, outside is like an open-air maze of seating nooks. The atmosphere feels just a bit off, like I’ve walked into someone else’s local and don’t quite get it. #9 #25
Excellent pub. Easily one of my favourites in London. The outdoor garden's stunning, always decent sport on and a great atmosphere.
Definitely an amazing place to go with your friends for a pint or few. They have nice quiz game nights. Best in this place is their beer garden, so many floors when you going up and up than you are in lovely rooftop with nice decorations around you. Really recommend to go there.
Nice pub with good food! The terrace was super busy and we had to sit inside, luckily we got a table at the front of the pub which was a great decoration and light.
We had some dinner there, the pad see eew was really nice but the stir fry could have had a little more quantity to be honest. They nicely have candles light up during the evening which was very nice.
Good atmosphere however this was my first pub experience since lockdowns and I felt a little unconfortable when someone who clearly had too much too drink was freely going around other clients table (such as ours) chatting too close with strangers, touching, etc... I sadly might keep avoiding pubs until I feel more comfortable with strangers approaching and touching me.
Great Irish pub, with a good atmosphere, delicious Thai food, and nice live music. Definitely, worth it to go, I hope they don't increase the price for the main courses, as now they are perfect.
One of the coolest pubs in London, quirky inside and the garden across various levels is amazing. Great place to watch sport it seems but most importantly, great Guinness!
Great pub. Staff are lovely, brilliant atmosphere for sport. Lovely outside area.
One minor, what is going on with the over officious bouncers outside!? Really rude and kinda kills the vibe of having a nice drink outside when you've got bouncers speaking to adults like naughty children on a Sat afternoon. Heard a few people saying they were going to leave as they were killing the atmosphere.
