Used to live in Dalston was back for a visit this weekend. Popped back in for a Spinach Gozleme which was as good as I remembered. Shame I didn't have time for a sit down meal. Had some great brunches and full on mezze wonderfulness in my time. Recommend the calamari. Light batter. Lovely.

Hooray! The Richmond-Stratford overground line is running on Sundays again! We celebrated this last Sunday by hopping a train to Dalston; we were in search of Turkish food for brunch. I already had a place in mind - Evin Cafe, where fresh gözleme could be found, a Turkish filled flatbread I'd been wanting to try. It's difficult to miss on Kingsland High Street - we found this sight in their window. We entered the restaurant and were surpised to find quite a large space with lots of seating. After making ourselves comfortable at a table at the back, we ordered a range of the Turkish dishes that were listed on the breakfast menu and all turned out to be winners in my book! As you can imagine, a gözleme was part of the order. First up was a sucuklu menemen (£5.75), a mixture of green pepper, onion, tomato, special garlic sausage (the sucuk) all bound together with scrambled egg. It may not look like much but it was fresh and delicious all scooped up with the basket of sesame-studded Tu

Evin is one of the numerous Turkish restaurants on Kingsland Road, however, I always go back there without any doubts.
The restaurant itself has loads of sits, outside, near the window and at the back, so that one can easily choose where to sit according to their preferences and also according to the weather. The restaurant is never empty but not too crowded. Sometimes during the weekend there are some musicians coming along to play some music.
On the morning for the breakfast two women make the traditional gözlem near the entrance of the restaurant, so that people can see that it is homemade.

I have been at Evin for Breakfast, lunch and diner.

At breakfast I got a Gözlem and a fresh orange juice with a veggie burger aside, I thought that it would not be enough but the portions were really good! I could not finish so they agreed that I could take it home.

At lunch I usually have a cherry juice with fries

And diner, I come with some friends to share one of these big and delicious plates.

As a vegetarian (more toward veganism) I am always pleased with what I get to eat there, and it is really cheap, with a great quality.

The staff is mainly friendly, and all this makes me want to come back.
If I could I would rate this place 10 / 5 !!

Keep on like this Evin!

This place is pricey for the area! But it's also very welcoming with great food. Service was fast and friendly and the hummus came with plenty of bread to dip. Our shared mixed grill platter was well prepared and delicious, if a bit mild for my taste.

Exceptional service and delicious food. The food portion is decent. Not excessively large but large enough to have quite a bit of unfinished food to pack away after. The quality of the food was superb. More than anything, the service was superb from both the servers. They were genuine and kind, respecting our space but making sure our needs were met. Been to most Turkish in the neighbourhood, but this one might be one that my partner and I return to on a regular basis. 10/10

The cold starters like Houmous were tasty and served with some bread. When first seeing the prices it was a bit of a shock as generally, this place had a high price. But the main dish I had which was the lamb was really tasty and I did not regret it. Like we were able to get a to-go box for the food that wasn't eaten up, and as soon as possible it was eaten up. The chicken was also really tasty. This is referring to the 'Minced Lamb Kebab' and 'Chicken shish kebab' on their menu. In addition, they had a pretty good deal on Italian imported wine that you could, at the time, get a glass of 175ml for £5. The venue was large with spaces for large parties, and small dates and it is possible to sit outside too.

I had a dinner party for 30 +people here. Initially was meant to have had the downstairs space but unfortunately couldn't (but do ask for this if planning something as if they can I'm sure they would) they were very accommodating and let me go during the day to prep the decode etc. We did one payment by collecting monies in advance and the restaurant were OK with this. Gazi is so helpful and friendly. Plus the food was delicious. The white bait, mix grill and lamb shish were some of the favourites but I would also recommend the chicken and mushroom traditional dish it was wonderful.

Lovely little spot for a quick little munch💯 Had the Mediterranean breakfast, which was really nice and worth the money! Service, hospitality and food all of a high standard! 🤌🏽 Definitely recommend you visit if ever in the area or after a shopping session at the famous and amazing Ridley Road Market 🏆

Good food and great value. Friendly service. The unique aspect of this restaurant is the fresh Gozlem. There seems to be tons of photos of the Gozlem station on Instagram and the internet, but when I tried to take a photo the woman preparing the Gozlem got very angry with me, but I respected her wishes and deleted the photo. I ordered Turkish scrambled eggs and my partner ordered a toastie with Turkish sausage. The Turkish coffee was a bit watery (no fortune). The fresh lavas was delicious so we got a bag to go.
