It's alright.
Nothing exciting. It is a bit bigger then other three nearby Spanish tapas places and does not feel intimate at all.
It is great for bigger parties and birthdays, due to space and pricing but romantic it is not.
For me the highlight was marinated peppers and simple chorizo dish.
I love octopus but this one was very fatty.
Great Place!. Not sure what it's like now but this place served the best paella I have ever tasted! Polite staff, efficient service & excellent food! Friday night were party night & you were always guaranteed a great night of music! Really miss this place!
..... La Rueda on Clapham High Street was the obvious choice for us. We first discovered this restaurant the day I helped my sister move into the area and we wanted something to fill our bellies after a long day of lugging around boxes. Not knowing Clapham very well, on venturing out we were, at first, uninspired by all the usual high street chains. Then we stumbled upon La Rueda . Nothing can really keep an
Recently went for a friends birthday and i have to say i was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is electrifying! The food came quickly, as usual it took me a while to filter down my choices and pick one meal, i chose the paella, it was amazing! And what really makes La Rueda special, is the transformation into a club/bar scene at night so you can burn those calories away!
Favourite Spanish restaurant in london. My boyfriend is Spanish and loves everything. Great tapas selection overall.
I used to go to this restaurant all the time when I used to live in Clapham and loved it. I went back and I have to say the food isn’t quite the same as a few years ago. Service was great and the ambience… loved it. The fish paella was tasty but not the best I have ever eaten.
The amount of effort put into the food is outstanding! Like genuinely.
The food takes a bit long but to make good food it has got to take time also the cooks there are very decorative with food 🍱.
Gave me a Spanish vibe, everything thing/one was Spanish like the music the food and people. It set the vibe.
Liked the decor. Huge portions are served as tapas. So we realised we have ordered twice as much food when they arrived. Aubergine tapas was my favourite
A hidden gem of a restaurant with great ambience and tasty tapas! Went here on a Thursday evening and it wasn’t too busy so food and service was very quick. Staff were courteous and the paella was flavoursome and reminded me of Spain! Definitely recommend the Gambas Pil Pil, as well as the meat platter if you’re looking to share! Do expect to splash out a little bit though; it is tapas at the end of the day, but what a treat it went down!
This was the first time I'd been here. The staff were kind and attentive but not invasive. The portions of food were HUGE but they very kindly provided takeaway boxes for leftovers. The seafood paella was exquisite.
Wordless… authentic Spanish food, tasty and good prices, we loved the sangria, we had few jugs! The staff is absolutely amazing, definitely a place to visit, and the decoration is very nice too.
Birthday Sunday Night Out. We couldn’t choose a right place for a while, as it should be Gluten and corn free, less diary etc. Week by week we checked places… and then we decided to stay local and find something around. And YAY, @larueda_clapham was chosen for this special occasion. We were the first who came into restaurant, calm spanish music, dimmed lights, friendly waitresses in a shiny white shirt. We had a right to choose a table, sat down, got a menu… plenty of tapas-veggie,seafood or meat ones! Great selection of main course and -Thanks GOD-paella menu!!! Food arrived quick, we requested-as it comes- as 3 of us wanted to share and keep eating! When tapas and mains were eaten we were waiting for the star dish of this night!Paella!!!
The portion is for 2ppl, BUT if You have some tapas before-You will ask for TA as I did😅That dish could be eaten by 3-4 persons easily!Desserts were Yummy! Churros isn’t my thing, but Creme Brulee and Granny’s cake were delish!
Great service, attentive staff, fingers licking food… what else do You need for a birthday dinner!
Will defo recommend to try Octopus as a main, baby squids, Mediterranean Prawns, Tuna Empanadas and of course paella!
Wouldn’t go for cheese plates, as You can get Manchego from Aldi for £3 rather then 6 slices for £10+SC.
I do recommend the tortilla de patata (Spanish omelette) and the chorizos (pork sausages), both delicious! And the waitress, Maria, was really kind and helpful all the time 😊
Authentic and delicious. Extremely friendly waiter and kitchen staff. The tapas was very good, I recommend the baby squid and gambas al pil pil. The squid ink paella is excellent too. Gluten free options are clearly marked on the menu and there's a big variety of dishes to choose from. Sangria also quite nice.
The only thing let down by was the one poor waiter having to serve more than 20 people across 8+ tables so service wasn't as quick as it could've been. Hopefully, management will hire someone else to help him.
Incredible for Spanish food in London. Chef's octopus was incredible. Sangria, not so much (it wasn't bad, but I've had a lot better).
A bit disappointed in the poor selection of beers (mainly almost none available except for alcohol free, probably a temporary supply issue).
Friendly staf (although they seemed a bit short staffed last time).
Eating at this restaurant was an absolute DELIGHT! The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive throughout the evening. The food was the most delicious food I've eaten a while. Notable favourites were the octopus (served with potato), squid ink paella, seafood paella (see photos) and the monkfish.
Honestly, the octopus has changed my life. I can't wait to return to this restaurant to eat it again ♥︎
Been here quite a few times. GREAT FOOD! Menu is just the perfect size with lots of selections (3 full pages with different types of seafood, meat, salads), very reasonable price, nice staffs and nice decorations with beautiful wine bottles. Always make me feel like I am on a vacation in Spain!
Nestled in the heart of Clapham, La Rueda
is a hidden gem that brings the vibrant flavors and warm hospitality of Spain to our doorstep. Having recently indulged in a delightful dining experience at this Spanish restaurant, I am thrilled to share my review and recommend it to fellow food enthusiasts.
From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was transported to the lively streets of Spain. The restaurant's inviting ambiance, adorned with rustic decor and warm lighting, created an atmosphere that was both cozy and lively. The friendly and attentive staff, donning traditional attire, further enhanced the authentic dining experience.
The menu at La Rueda is a culinary journey through the diverse regions of Spain, offering a wide array of traditional dishes that capture the essence of Spanish cuisine. From tapas to paella, every dish showcased the skillful execution and attention to detail that are hallmarks of authentic Spanish cooking.
To start the meal, I opted for a selection of tapas, which included classics such as patatas bravas, gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp), and croquetas. Each bite was a burst of flavor, with the perfect balance of spices and seasonings. The tapas were expertly prepared, highlighting the freshness and quality of the ingredients.
For the main course, I couldn't resist trying the seafood paella, a signature dish that La Rueda
is renowned for. Served in a traditional paella pan, the dish was a glorious medley of saffron-infused rice, succulent shrimp, tender calamari, and flavorful mussels. The rice was cooked to perfection, achieving that coveted balance between tenderness and a slightly crispy texture at the bottom of the pan.
The beverage selection at La Rueda
was equally impressive, with an extensive list of Spanish wines, sangrias, and refreshing cocktails. The knowledgeable staff readily provided recommendations, ensuring a perfect pairing for each course. I particularly enjoyed sipping on a glass of Tempranillo, which complemented the richness of the flavors in the dishes.
The dessert menu at La Rueda
presented a tempting array of traditional Spanish sweets. I savored a slice of creamy flan and indulged in churros with rich chocolate dipping sauce. The desserts were the perfect finale to a memorable culinary experience, leaving me with a sweet lingering taste.
One aspect worth mentioning is the attentive and knowledgeable service provided by the restaurant's staff. From explaining the menu with enthusiasm to offering insights into the origins of each dish, their passion for Spanish cuisine shone through. Their warm hospitality added a personal touch to the dining experience, making me feel like an honored guest.
In terms of pricing, La Rueda
offers good value for the quality and authenticity of the food. While it may be slightly higher than average, the exceptional flavors and the overall dining experience make it well worth the investment.
In conclusion, La Rueda is a true haven for those seeking an authentic taste of Spain. With its vibrant atmosphere, delectable dishes, and attentive service, it captures the essence of Spanish cuisine and offers a delightful culinary journey. Whether you're a fan of tapas, paella, or indulgent desserts, this Spanish restaurant is a must-visit for a memorable and satisfying dining experience.
