Ethiopian cuisine is for people who like to share food. Having never tried it, we relied on the waitress to guide us through the menu and we ended up ordering the most popular items - currries and stews on the (slightly sour) flat bread. It was all very flavoursome, tasty and communal, which made for a pleasant evening.
The food is really good. This is my first time trying Ethiopian cuisine definitely not a bad impression. The Doro wat and red lentils are the best of everything we have eaten. Definitely suggest ordering them.
My very first time trying Ethiopian food and I really liked it!
I know there are a few Ethiopian spots around Kings Cross and after doing a random Google Maps search I came across this one that had a really good rating and reviews so I suggested to my friends who were visiting in town that we should give this a go.
I had made a reservation prior but upon arrival on a Monday evening I was surprised to see that it was basically empty so reservations aren't needed on week days although weekends could be totally different.
I was greeted by this very nice lady and I chose a table inside since it was rainy earlier that day and a bit chilly. Between my friends and I we ordered one vegan combo and one meat (combo 2) to share and it's safe to say that we had way too much food.
I personally really liked the injera - interesting texture and taste which I suppose could be off-putting to some people as it's made with a special flour so tasted a bit sour but together with the veggies and meat it was such a nice complimentary bread. I really enjoyed both combos but gotta say my personal favourite was the meaty one because of the spices and the range of proteins we had - beef stew, spicy chicken stew and lamb. Everything was genuinely so tasty and the flavours were stimulating my appetite as I ate. I liked the lentils and Dahl (I presume?) a lot, they were such nice pairings with injera and I simply couldn't stop eating! With that all being said, I did expect some of the meat dishes to be much spicier given they were named "spicy beef and chicken stews" but I suppose as an Asian with a high spice tolerance I was expecting a lot from a place that's obviously adapted to the local bland British palatte. In total, we paid around £20 per person excluding the beer and wine and an extra chicken dish that my friends had ordered which was a great price considering how big the portions were.
Service was great, the lady was so smiley and friendly the whole time giving us recommendations. The interior design felt very homely with the decorations on the walls, making you feel like you were really in Ethiopia for a true local dining experience. I would love to come back and try other dishes soon!
Have been wanting to eat here each time we walk by on Caledonian Road and am really happy to finally do it! It was the perfect Ethiopian food fix. The ginger tea was appropriately spicy and the beef, chicken, fish combo more than enough for three with stretchy bread with a tad of sourness.
Cozy little Ethiopean/Eritrean restaurant near the center of London. The menu has 8 different possible meat combos and several vegetarian ones. They all cost 40£ for 2 or 3 people. We were 2 and the plate that we got was more than enough for both of us. The food was bloody lovely, a tad spicy but not too much, mostly flavourful. Overall, would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking to try out Ethiopian cuisine for the first time!
Really good food, for the price you pay and the area you’re in it’s a lovely cozy restaurant. We tried different vegan combos and they were all delicious. Although I think the amount of rye bread could increase. Will come back again when I’m in the neighbourhood.
great ethiopian food near kings cross. love the acidity in the injera and the richness / authenticity of the traditional coffee ceremony! for the combo dishes inside we recommend the lamb base curries- meat was soft and tender.
however for this price there are cheaper options. we paid £60 for 2 persons in total for reference:)
Delicious Ethiopian fare - highly recommend the red lentils, the hummus and the spinach. The decor and vibe are unusual, though service is good.
Amazing restaurant with delicious vegan options! We were able to mix vegan and non vegan options to share. The flavours were great and has a very reasonable price.
We ended the meal with honey wine made in house! We highly recommend.
The staff were all very lovely. Thank you for serving us!
Amazing food. Lovely taste and really good hospitality. Highly recommended!
Absolutely wonderful place. Love the decor and the music and the incense. Food was so delicious with a real home-cooked feel. The owner was lovely and made me and my partner feel super welcome, and helped us pick our food. Will definitely be visiting again and bringing friends. :)

The cuisine at this restaurant is truly exquisite, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking to experience the delectable flavors of a vibrant and culturally diverse culinary tradition.
Interesting food. Good time, good experience.
Menu was a little confusing. Left the order to recommendation from the owner. What arrived was quite attractive and varied. Only advice would be to be more interactive and promoting of your great food to people who have never ordered Ethiopian food before. It’s was great, help the sharing of it easier.
First time. I came because my mate Leyla Kazim recommended it. The hostess/Manager was very friendly and hospitable to recommend what to eat. A nice experience. Worth trying and easy to get to.
Decent food that comes in huge portions. Not my favourite Ethiopian restaurant, but it's good value for money.
Ginger tea was nice too
A great and beautiful discovery. Cute and cosy spot to eat Eritrean/Ethiopian food in a welcoming place. The owner was amazing all the way. We had samosas and spinach cottage as starters and a mixed platter with meat and veggie with my friend. The spices were 😍 and the portions were generous. Will definitely return (next week :))!
Amazing food, my first time eating Ethiopian and I totally loved it. For 31 euros you can get different dishes. We chose beef, lamb and vegetarian dishes. The portion is good for two people and fun to share. Ginger tea is also amazing and the staff is nice. I would totally recommend it 😊
The vegan deal seems like good value, but the amount of veg they actually give you seems small and they compensate by filling the plate with fermented bread. The flavours were not up to the standard I'd hoped, shame because in the past I was very impressed!
