Unbelievable food. Everything tastes incredible. I recommend sharing at least 3 dishes between two people. After a visit you will be dreaming about the food for weeks.

The food is really good. In particular, the ox heart is amazing, love eating the sauce with bread. Nice atmosphere and staffs are friendly. Will definitely visit again.

Found this place on a random day out.  Limited dishes on their menu but i really enjoyed eating the lamb sweetbread. The staff were polite and recommended other key dishes. Surely going to visit again.

Probably the best meal we've had after 3 years in London - excellent food, tasty...fresh, interesting and not pretentious. Great service and not over-priced either (both of which are pretty rare in this city too!!)..
Definitely worth a repeat visit, or two, or three...

The best kind of meals are always the unexpected ones. I found myself at a loose end in London last week and on the off chance decided to message an old friend to see if she might be free. Like the trooper she’s always been – she agreed to come and meet me on her lunch break so we could cram in a long overdue catch up and some good food

Happened to stumble upon Soho on a random day out. It was way past normal lunch hours and most kitchens were shutting. After many in-and-outs of places, we finally found Duck Soup and grabbed a table.

What I first noticed was the beautiful playlist of music they have. They play everything off vinyl records on a gramophone. Pretty cool huh?

Their wine and food list is quite limited but it's perfect for a 4-5pm wine and snack place on the days you feel like doing so. What we later discovered as well is that their menu changes almost daily, so 4-5 dishes a day is pretty good!

What everyone MUST have here are the lamb sweetbreads (if they ever do them again, it'll be your lucky day). So succulent. So well cooked. Perfectly balanced with yummy garlic oil and cherry tomatoes. I pretty much gobbled down the whole plate in record time. The other dish, was some sort of gnocchi with beans and greens in olive oil. Pretty bland, and paled in comparison. xx

Last night I ventured into Central London for some dinner with my brother and his wife. We had plans to go and check out the new DubJam restaurant in Covent Garden, but unfortunately Lucy wasn't able to make it in the end, so we didn't want to go there without her. We popped into Flatiron, Polpo and Burger and Lobster, but they all had waits of over an hour, and by that point neither of us could wait that long for food! Luckily though Ducksoup had room for the 2 of us, and I'm so glad we ended up eating there, as neither of us had been before and we absolutely loved the food! Sadly, as we were sitting downstairs, it was quite dark, lit mostly by candle light, so the photos I took are terrible!! But bear with me, I'm sure you'll get the gist, and you should go check it out yourselves anyway as I think their menu is really original and utterly yummy.Ducksoup's menu consists of small bar menu plates, and larger plates from the kitchen. We decided to share a few things so we could get to try as much as possible. We started with a plate of capocollo, which is cured pork shoulder, and tasted like it was seasoned with black pepper and juniper. It had the perfect balance of meat and fat, and just melted in the mouth, leaving it's wonderful flavour lingering:

a simple set-up, small but intimate, the food menu comes on a hand written piece of paper with an array of several wines on the board. Everything feels quite homely, the food is beautiful, although don't expect a large portion...the service was attentive and caring. Quite pricey but not outrageous for the area.

Been here a few times on week days. The staff is always nice and the wines are delicious.
I'm not a big eater so I enjoy the small bites.
It's very cosy (yes small) but filled with the lovely sounds of an old record player it makes it a great spot for a romantic dinner for two.

I was a bit disappointed by this recently opened place that has been generating big publicity and got good reviews by the FT and evening standard and the concept of cool, european type tapas in Soho is great, but there were a few problems: 1) there was no room in the restaurant, it is cute to have small places but this was so small, and the tables put together so close, I had no place where to put my bags and I could not move, 2) the concept of the food is good - european cool tapas (see menu in the picture), but for some strange reason a lot of the dishes just did not work … octopus and lamb chops that I had were amazing, but the meatballs, mozzarella, mushrooms and papardelle pasta with beef ragu were a bit tasteless. I give this place 3 Ms. Date: 03/02/12 My second visit to Ducksoup almost a year later I liked Ducksoup so much more on my second v

This week I went for my first lunch at Ducksoup with two friends, both of them have already been there before. The concept of Ducksoup is the same as a tapas restaurant, some dishes (Bar menu) are small portion and are ideal to share for starters, and others are more like a main course (Kitchen menu).  What I like about this place is the decoration, it is quite simple but it is friendly, probably because all tables are near each other (it could something I wouldn't like if I was having a romantic dinner, but for lunch with my two friends it didn't bother me). I like the menu which was hand-written (see picture below), it is original and they have a various choice of food: fish, vegetables, meat... We decided to share everything so we ordered three dishes from the bar menu : grilled chicken wings, roast shallots and raw Jerusalem artichokes. Chicken required a little bit of salt and raw Jerusalem artichokes needed some olive oil but apart from that starters were good. As main course we

For our main courses, we chose the pan fried duck breast with star anise and the seven hour lamb with chickpeas. The duck was served perfectly pink and succulent. It was well seasoned and the star anise gave it a distinct Asian flavour. We also went for a portion of boulangerie potatoes on the side and they were damn tasty! It’s little wonder that they sold out soon after we got our order in. You really do need to order a side or two with this, or it is quite literally just a plate of duck.

Petite and perfectly formed wine bar and restaurant Duck Soup fits with the new pared down aesthetic that is so de rigeur at the moment. It does, quite disappointingly, not serve duck soup. Name aside, the menu is short, uncomplicated and affordable. The dishes are very well executed, very delicious and nicely presented. The fact that things change around so often will have me going back for lunch a lot. A meal of 2 starters, 2 mains and bread came to £15 a head which seemed v

Duck Soup is thoroughly a trendy, soho, bar type of restaurant. If you don't know what I'm talking about, think of a small bar counter with 5 tables around it. Why is it packed? Because it only has 5 tables and a 7 people (estimated) bar. So if you just went shopping and have some bags or are in a large group (by that I mean more than 3 people), or dislike waiting in a queue, go somewhere else. If you love this kind of thing, then expect delicious starters from £4 and mains from £14, all scribbled on a hand written menu updated on a daily basis (also available on their website blog ). [[MORE]]The best table is the one by the window, the only one with a space on its own. The others would all end up brushing your neighbour's back, nice if she/he is hot, but date wise, it'd be awkwardly uncomfortable. The mood was surprisingly chilled after you settle down into the compact space, dimmed candle light with the vinyl record player working in the background. It's a good place to just walk i

Soho gets another hipster, uber cool, no bookings restaurant with that half finished look that's so popular right now. I'm being snarky, when truthfully I love all these places, Ducksoup included. The fried casava with thyme and aioli was nicer than Kopapa's version, it was cut thinner and more crispy. The aioli was also delicious. Pork in milk with wet polenta, the pork had been stewed for what must be a long time, it was very tender and very flavoursome. The polenta was rich.

This final dish really represented what I interpreted Ducksoup’s ethos to be, brilliant ingredients put together carefully, thoughtfully but so simply so that they all sing.

Linconshire onions were baked whole for accomplished mellowness and oozy sweetness. Salty, thyme-infused ricotta crumbles and very bitter leaves made the dish effortlessly three dimensional.

It's a world away from the well padded and ribald bonhomie of the Dean Street Townhouse opposite, and would be perfectly suited to an aesthete's second date rather than a good time gang up with friends.

Dean Street is fast becoming one of my favourite Soho food streets - I have written before about Dean St Townhouse and the wonderful Cay Tre and now I can add Ducksoup to the list. Stripped back, pared down almost to the point of shabbiness, Ducksoup reminds me of places I liked in Melbourne in the 90s, maybe along Brunswick Street or in St Kilda (as they were then). A turn-table and a stack of records greet you as you enter and they are more than happy for you to bring something from your own vinyl collection to play. A simple hand-written menu has limited but delicious sounding options - I went for the lamb chops, which were cooked to perfection, salty and with a wedge of lemon to squeeze over. Accompanying the incredibly delicious chops we shared pumpkin, spinach and goats curd, as well as courgettes cooked with mint & chilli - all top notch also. I loved the fact that there were no standard soft drinks available (Coke etc) but only ginger beer and Sicilian lemonade. Also loved the

I really enjoyed the evening, the mostly bar style seating is relaxed and convivial, the guys working here are all friendly and helpful and the menu is interesting and constantly changing, depending on what's in season and in the fridges. We had no trouble getting a seat at 6:30ish on a Monday but it can get really busy so be wise and go early or late.

We were wandering around Soho one evening after watching Argo at the cinema. Soho has such a buzzing vibe about it - the one area in London which is packed with bars, restaurants, jazz bars, clubs and of course, some shady shops. It's rather gentrified now than it was a few years back and is home to a lot of good restaurants. We walked past Barrafina which was busy as usual, past Koya which is on my wish list to try out the udon noodles but again the queue was ridiculous, Burger & Lobster which I wasn't really in the mood for and then ended up outside Ducksoup, a recent entrant on the Soho strip of Dean Street. I had never been there before and given that we could instantly get a seat and the menu looked interesting, we ventured forth inside.

It didn't start on a good note for me as the glass of wine I had tasted extremely acidic. I was so sure it had gone bad though my dining partner said it was drinkable. Our waiter was extremely nice and offered me another drink in exchange. However, after sampling another wine I decided to stick to beer with pink grenadine which instantly cheered me up. The waiter said all their wines were organic so perhaps I wasn't used to the taste or maybe it was just the one I tried.

We started with Hanger Steak on toast with melted bone marrow butter which was delicious. Steak perfectly cooked with a nice pinkish red centre and the addition of the bone marrow butter took it to another level. The other dish we tried was a raw thinly sliced Jerusalem artichokes with roasted hazelnuts which my dinner companion really liked. For mains, we shared Gnudi with wild mushrooms which was a rather unusual dish. Gnudi is a type of dumpling made of ricotta cheese and flour and was quite nice. We also had 7 hour cooked lamb which was really good. Served up like a stew with melt-in-your-mouth chunks of soft, tender lamb, chickpeas and carrots – it was such a tasty, comforting dish. Dessert was alright - a buttermilk pudding more like panna cotta with Rhubarb.

The restaurant is tiny and run more like cafe. Wines by the glass are written on a white board, handwritten menus, paper napkins out of a dispenser and slightly uncomfortable seating along the wall but overall there's a cosy warm atmosphere which, I suppose, is what they are aiming for with the exposed light bulbs strung along the ceiling and the vintage LP’s stacked at the entrance. Food wise, Ducksoup uses ingredients creatively and serves up simple and well-cooked dishes. I wouldn't mind going again but if there was a queue I don’t think I would have the patience to wait - there are so many more other new restaurants that I want to try out in Soho!

Very tiny restaurant. We have tried to book a table but unfortunately the only space left was at the bar. It did feel tight and not a lot of privacy. But saying that the food was excellent. Quite an interesting combination of flavours, we have tried delicious dishes. There is a good selection of wines as well. The staff were attentive. Recommended.

Just amazing. These types of little restaurants are my favorite : seasonal food, original flavor mixes, excellent wine (i recommend the sparkling chenin). I had a lovely experience and cannot wait to come back when I’m back in London.

Finding a quiet and intimate place to eat in Soho can be difficult, so I was intrigued to finally visit Ducksoup - especially after hearing so many glowing reviews from many foodies. We sat at the bar which was a great spot to see all of the action and the wines. We were lucky to have a good menu on the day we visited as it rotates frequently. The standout dish was the rotolo pasta with sage butter sauce and girolles. Overall, we were very glad to have a new and different dining experience to everywhere else we’ve visited in Central London. The service was very friendly and they helped us to pick out our wines as we had never tried natural wines before. My only recommendation would be to make the wines/terms used a bit more accessible - not everyone who visits will be a connoisseur…! Another slight critique is the portioning/pricing - our bill after 2 ‘large plates’ and 2 ‘small plates’, plus 4 glasses of wine came to over £175 for 2 people. For the simplicity of the dishes and portioning, I’m not sure if I could consider it reasonable (a few chunks of fried aubergine were £13), considering we’ve been to ‘fancier’ restaurants nearby for less. That being said, it’s still a lovely place and also v romantic!

A nice countertop restaurant in the heart of Soho. We had bread and butter, market pickles and labneh for starters. They were all quite good with bigger portions than normal. Butter was especially our favourite. For small plates, we ordered fried romanesco, spiced beetrots, raw trout and leeks. Our favourite was definitely the leeks. Nice selection of wines and cosy&warm atmosphere inside (entrance foor bar). Last but not least their orange wine is worth trying.

Lively hip and intimate ambiance. Everyone’s like family and it really translates on to the personal and fun service. How cute that they’ve set up a record corner/ collection that each leaving staff leaves as a memorbilia. Generally great and inventive small plates, cheese platter, and natural wine and other drinks selection. Great for: dates, small groups 2-3 Rating: 4.5

Dimly lit, cozy, and small spot for tapas style food with wine. To start, we got the sardine ragu, pollack, mushroom polenta. All of them were pretty good. The sardine ragu didn't have a strong fishy taste. The texture was similar to a gnocchi. The pollack was kind of like sashimi with slices of potato on top. It was fine, but not something I'd get again. The mushroom polenta was my favorite of the night. I also love polenta. The polenta was thick and savory. The mushrooms gave it a perfect umami flavor. For mains, we got the Ray fish and the beef. The Ray was really different to any other fish I've had. It was soft, but also had a lot of bones. The beef was okay. It came with tiny potatoes and tomatoes which were again fine. Overall, it was a quick (ish) place to get dinner. It has a wine bar feel, and generally good food. I wouldn't come here for the wine. The wine by the glass was just okay. The most full bodied wine they had was a Gamay for our beef, and it was still quite light.

We visited Ducksoup recently and were completely in love by the time the bill arrived. The service (big shout out to Rina, who is an absolute dream ), the food and the general cozy ambiance was enough to convince us to come back again and again. I highly recommend this place to anyone that truly enjoys flavour, cooking creativity and fantastic service.

The overall atmosphere of the place is great. Despite of being placed in the bustling area of Soho it was very calm. The wine I selected was tasteful but sharing a bottle would be less expensive. The food we shared was very tasty. The portions even for the small dishes were well proportioned. However, the prices are on the higher side so keep that in mind. Overall, we would return to share a bottle of wine and accompany it with good food.

Full of intimacy and charm, with knowledgeable staff and a niche but appropriate selection of wines. The hanger steak was sensational (the quince garnish elevated) it as was the artisanal bread that preceded it. Interesting but accessible menu.
