Excellent food, friendly staff and great ambience, not much more you could ask for! Get an espresso martini for after you won't be disappointed!

The food and service here is AMAZING. The best gastropub food I have ever had. Make sure you come with hungry and try as much as possible, the food is well worth the price.

Pleasant atmosphere. Great food. Gently air conditioned on a hot evening. We will definitely be back. Daily changing menus using some pretentious language but that's part of the charm.

"Would you like to sit at the bar or at a table at the back? I should warn you, there are lots of children.". Claire Roberson, charmingly laid-back front of house at the Camberwell Arms, whom I first met when she was one half of the now sadly missed Mayfields in Hackney (though it's hard to be sad for too long when you realise its replacement is the exquisite Pidgin), knows that sitting amidst the bedlam of a family restaurant in South London on a bank holiday weekend is not to everyone's tastes. But this is the new reality of Camberwell in 2016, gentrified if not quite yet genteel, with its gastropubs and artisan pizza joints and buggy-friendly table spacings. A lot has changed in a very short space of time.

Every suburb in London wishes they could have a traditional boozer exactly like Camberwell has in The Camberwell Arms. Still looking to get properly noticed on the South East London dining scene, Camberwell has some great (Silk Road, Stormbird, Mangal, Pidgeon Hole Cafe) and not so great (Daily Goods – I’m looking at you) foodie destinations. But if you compare this offering to Peckham and Dulwich just down the road we still have a fair way to go in the varied options down our end of town.

Good atmosphere and great food with friendly service. Their menu changes daily so be prepared you might not be able to get the same dishes you have enjoyed. Recommend to book in advance to avoid being turned away.

I live locally and have been a bit dismissive of this place but some generous friends got my partner and I a voucher so finally got round to trying this place. From the friendly attentive staff (who were very accommodating and knew the menu well) to the excellent (and generously portioned food) I've been made to literally eat my words. All the dishes we had were tasty but the scotch bonnet beef fat on toast and beetroot with pistachio cream a particular highlight. The dining room at the back is small-ish and can get quite noisy but otherwise, we had a lovely dinner.

Thoroughly enjoyed the two visits I've paid to the Camberwell Arms. If you'e looking for terrific food (Sunday menu my tip), friendly staff and just general solid vibe. Nice background music selection along with the sound of the chefs cooking etc - this is the spot to go. The sharing menus are absolutely banging. I also suggest to get one of their blood Marys if you're hungover. That before a spit roast chicken for 2 was 10/10. Enjoy!

Amazing Sunday Roast, super fresh, and attentive service! Very accommodating for my sister who wasn't able to eat dairy, even offered to amend recipes to accommodate. Food was super delicious and the Olive oil cake dessert was particularly good 🔥

Hadn’t taken photo of our main as it would have been a little awkward/rude on the date, but I have to say, it was very much worth the visit from North London for Sunday Roast! Enjoyed the Lillet Rose (aperitif in the photo) and sourdough was gorgeously made with rosemary and lovely oil (didn’t ask what oil though). We went for a roast but as it is rare to have slow cooked beef which was on the menu we decided to go for that instead! We thoroughly enjoyed it all. The beef was very tender and fat was edible (yes we enjoy eating all the bit and not waste it). The olive and greens combination beautifully complemented the beef and the single dish of slow cooked beef and veg was very much enough for two. The bread was great for soaking up the juices 🤤 We really enjoyed the chocolate sorbet as well, very rich and creamy - wasn’t expecting that from a sorbet! One is actually good to share for two with the richness. But if you love a good rich dark chocolate then no harm in one per person - we managed to have one each. I would definitely love to come back and try other dishes/mains next visit! Keep it up team!

Fantastic food with a great vibe set in the heart of Camberwell. We have been for dinner here each time. The scotch bonnet beef fat on toast and Hereford rump are highlights. The fish dishes are also delicious along with the scrummy desserts. Great setting and the customer service is first class and friendly. We haven’t tried the Sunday roasts but will definitely be returning to try it out!

A really really nice dinner with my wife and close friends. Service was excellent and food was to a very good standard. Only scoring it a 4* because I think to call oneself a pub in London, you have to offer better value for money in terms of portioning than what was offered. I'm not usually about the moaning about portions, but we paid £100 for a very delicious rib of beef and between the 4, with the sides on offer, we were left a little wanting. Would genuinely recommend though. What a weird review this is.

Very very busy... not sure of it is a pub or a restaurant but probably a bit of both... food looked good but didn't have time to eat so next time!

Booking - was great accommodating last minute request for an additional person to attend and gave us a nice table spot. Food - was fantastic. Got the chicken roast & pie to share Sunday roast special. My older brother got his vegan meals. Everyone enjoyed their meals and really enjoyed the desserts too. Atmosphere - had a nice vibe. There were 4 birthday parties around us. Service - again top notch. Very attentive and all our orders came within a reasonable time. Only slight damper was we were hurried to leave our table, so my sister wasn't able to finish her tea without feeling rushed. Overall really good. Would like to visit in the week day when it's less hectic.

The Camberwell Arms is simply fantastic. Creative food made with passion and served by great, happy, friendly staff. I have never had a bad plate from these guys and more often than not I say 'wow' out loud when I taste something new from them. It's a great place to share lots of plates of super yummy food with your friends. One of the best

Great for catching up with friends, dates 😉, or you just simply want to impress your parents showing them how “grown up” you are and nailing London life. Must try: grilled lamb, steak, and hake 👌 Pork fat on toast is a bit too salty for me…

Went for a Sunday Roast and was shocked how tiny the portions are. The attached photo is a main course that's meant to be shared between two people…

👏👏👏 every dish was everything we were looking for that day! What an wonderful roast and great value for money! I couldn't pick a favourite and would love to come back and try more. The space especially was so roomy and contemporary, such s nice settings for a Sunday afternoon. Oh but also the Negroni that needed a shout-out! Class.

The pork fat on toast, salt cod fritters and half roast chicken with chips were absolutely top notch. A very solid selection of slightly unusual cocktails and attentive service to round it all off. Even though this is quite out of our way coming from North London I'm confident we will be back!

The food was unreal. We ordered a few different small plates, larger plates and shared a pudding. Also paired with a few cocktails. Would happily come back again. Definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing food! Everything was delicious and they comped our starters because they were sold out of a few things, which was very generous. Will 100% be coming back.
