I have tried a few times to book this place and tonight finally got the chance to visit. The food was excellent with fusion British gastro. The beef checks melted in your month and the squid and chorizo was a fantastic starter. Will be back with friends.

A pretty and pleasant, comfortable pub. There's an aquarium with koi, shelves full of books, newspapers, and toys for kids. When the weather is nice the banquettes near the big open picture windows are lovely.
Service must have improved since the previous reviews because I found the staff to be charming, attentive and efficient. This was despite being served by different people taking orders, delivering drinks, cutlery or food, and dealing with the cheque. It all ran smoothly. I like the way they bring a carafe of tap water as soon as you sit down.
We had an afternoon snack. I had the fried calamari which was perfectly executed. Nice big chunks of squid, with a very light coating of batter. Not at all greasy. The tangle of shredded deep fried leek which served as garnish was delicious. I was less sure about the pairing with plum and teriyaki sauce. The sweet and sour sauce was a little strange on calamari. Next time I will ask for the sauce to be served on the side. My companion complained that his carrot soup was too sweet as well. It came with some nice thick slabs of toasted sour dough and softened butter.
If we happen to be in Brockley I would be happy to eat at the Orchard again. I would just be careful about ordering anything that runs the risk of being over sweetened.
Great food, bored staff. The food here is always amazing. However, the staff could maybe smile every now and then!
Lovely meal at The Orchard. Had dinner at The Orchard last night and had a really good time. The place had a lovely buzz and the staff were friendly and attentive. I've been going there on and off for a while as I live in the area and although they can get busy at times I have always experienced really good service and top quality food. The Orchard is a brilliant restaurant and is all the better for being a local place where the staff know peoples names and what they drink. I don't really write reviews so am surprised to see the negative review on this site which is so far from the experiences I and my friends have had. Or maybe they love the place like me and don't want other people to know about it!
Everything about this place is to a superlative!
The atmosphere is perfect! Great music, at the right volume, cozy and perfect interior design. Made me feel at home!
The food is perfect! Chose the Mackerel and was not disappointed, with the pear dessert that simply tickled all the taste buds. Cocktails were extremely tasty too, ended up trying about 6 of them!
And the staff…I cannot compliment them enough! Very attentive, joyful and friendly, which made me feel very comfortable!
I will definitely return here and for sure it will be more than once!

Lovely staff, ambiance and the food was fantastic. I had the vegetarian full English and the sweetcorn fritters were delicious! My friend had the calamari which was crispy and yet soft inside with a yummy plum sauce.
Definitely going back to try more of the menu and the cocktails!

As usual, brunch was busy and food was great. Even though we had our food much later than usual we really appreciated the staff for constantly informing us about our food status. The ambiance was great. Felt like my parents house on the weekend bustling with laughter, chat and kids.

A real hidden gem! It's a really nice setting with friendly, welcoming staff.
Great for a family meal or a quiet coffee.
The food and service are of an excellent standard.
They also serve non alcoholic beer which is an added attraction for me.

Just off the main road this bar has a quirky and somewhat homely feel with a variety of spaces and an open-air feel with full width french doors.
Seating includes Moroccan style benches, sofas, pub tables and then more restaurant like table dining behind the library/aquarium divider.
The kitchen is open and directly behind the bar in the back left corner. It can be a little unclear where to order but the staff are all really friendly and welcoming.
Food is gastro-pub burger + fancy vegetarian with hand cut chips feeling like they were hewn from a baked potato.
Overall a good place for meeting friends and perhaps a date.
Great place been coming here since I was small! Will be missed after 14 years in Brockley :( great food fantastic cocktails and lovely atmosphere

Normally find it hard to resist the steak, but had the cod and risotto this time.
The artichoke starter was absolutely banging too.

Ahh! The Orchard veggie brunch is amazing! Their beans are so delicious! On my last visit I had a vegan bean curry with wild rice! And the banana loaf served warm is so so good!!! (Not vegan) The service is great, they are very accommodating with those of us who have food restrictions!
Beautiful space. I personally prefer the cosy section to the modern one. probably me being just too old school :-) They do a very nice Sunday roast - the meat is very tender. If there is anything I would ask for is probably to make the Sunday roast portion a bit bigger. whether it is adding a bit more meat or few more potatoes :-) I will go again :-)
I've eaten in The Orchard many times and it's always a constant and good choice of venue for Sunday lunch or a mid-week meal which keeps us coming back. I like the atmosphere, decor and the team are friendly and generally attentive although sometimes there is a bit of a wait on food when they're busy. It's dog friendly which is a plus. If you're looking for a venue in Brockley then you can't go wrong with The Orchard. Recommended.
We had a fantastic time at The Orchard in Brockley! We appreciated the warm service, great Côte du Rhône, and tasty bavette. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem for a delicious and cozy dining experience.

Great pub. Very good selection of beers on tap and in the fridge. Nice selection of the local brewery’s beers as well. Food was excellent, had the beef.
Great service and pub food. Very attentive waiting staff, amazing cocktails, but food was just good but not outstanding. I had a veggie burger which arrived in a standard brioche bun with a few garnishes and some rather ordinary French fries. This would be ok if pub prices were being charged.
