Excellent food and friendly, attentive service. It was a special birthday for one of us and the kitchen produced a lovely extra birthday dessert. Great setting. I honestly cannot say when I have last enjoyed a meal so much across all three courses. Best vegetarian choices I have seen alongside meals for fish and meat-eaters. The lavender meringue dessert was superb. Hope to get back there before too long.
Met up with a foodie friend. The food was wonderful. Atmosphere was relaxed. Staff attentive and friendly. Location lovely. Will definitely return.
While visiting the small but captivating exhibitions in the Somerset House, I noticed this place and since I started the visiting tour rather early I decided to try out the English breakfast menu. So I was the first one in. The rooms are pleasant - in the morning sun. And the first thing I noticed is the very friendly personnel working there. The waitress really went out of her way, took time, explained, checked, made sure I am not allergic. As it should be but as it is not common anymore. I immediately felt comfortable. The dish was very good, the sausage tested like it was from meat ;-) and the bread was deliciously baked. All accompanied by fresh tea (with generous leaves in the pot).
I am definitively coming back here, it also seems pleasant enough for a small group.
One of three restaurants at Somerset House but not that easy to find. Go through the main courtyard and at the end turn right to a bar and restaurant overlooking the Thames. Innovative cuisine including trout and cured salmon with a good wine selection.
We had the set menu; 3 courses for £29 with a glass of prosecco and it was excellent. Smallish portions but in total it was just right. The staff were excellent, incredibly friendly and welcoming. The venue itself is also worth a visit in its own right and is a nice reprieve from the hustle of the Strand. Can't fault it, highly recommended.
Really enjoyed the food and, obviously, the setting but - despite being a Saturday night - the whole place felt flat, no buzz or atmosphere, felt like I was sitting in a library. Can't fault the cooking, everything we had (from the small menu) was happily scoffed by all 5 of us.
Good venue, Good food and a Thames side view.
We arrived at the venue to efficient service and seated quickly.
A good menu selection, not too overloaded like you get in some restaurants, and food coming from local sources and responsibly sourced. You may think that this would make the prices high, but far from it. Very reasonably priced central london restaurant.
A good selection of craft beers, spirits and a good selection of alcohol free choices for those of us who drive.
A very good experience all round and deffinately worth 5 stars and a visit with friends, as a couple or a family.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Set menu understated every item and then over delivered (with only exception, a rather ill advised banana cake desert). Lovely touches like fabulous home made crisp bread. Generous serving of prossecco, friendly helpful service.
Set in historic Somerset House. A nice series of comfortable dining rooms. They serve ready good wheaten bread and the Lam dish was delicious. Great cheesecake also. Expensive lunch but worth it.
We passed by last week and booked yesterday. Unfortunately menu just changed couple of days ago and what we wanted to try wasn’t on the menu but food was very tasty! We ended up having just mains and one starter to share but staff didn’t look disappointed and kept the friendly service. Thanks for the hospitality!
Went for a set menu lunch. Really nice food and good choices. Service was very good and the staff in the bar were really friendly and helpful. Nice location near the river. Will definitely go again.
What i can say, such an amazing place!! Quiet and gorgeous. Specially yesterday i had the best risotto in my life. Was soo creamy and tasty. Remind me my vacation in Italy. Thank you everyone, i will come
