From Heathrow I had a Kurdish driver and I asked for Kurdish restaurant. He recommended Azmar. Pleasant and friendly staff. Had the special Azmar kebab which was quite nice. A little different from the Iranian chello kebeb. It came with lentil soup, salad, hummus and a cup of tea and a delicious piece of bakhlava all for 8 quid. Will return.

The beautiful lane in which the restaurant is located has a range of attractive and super fresh healthy ingredients displayed. This was one of the primary reasons for me to be attracted to this place and try this restaurant.
This was quite a delightful restaurant. The interiors are pleasant and interesting and suitable for both professional or personal outing. It is generally quite packed which is only a good sign. There is also an option for take away.

The menu offers a varied range of items and the portion size is very substantial. The value for money then quite good with the whole lunch bill under 8 pounds.I would recommend trying the lamb shawarma platter which is amazing! The service too is quick and humble. I will definitely go back!

This Kurdish restaurant is definitely worth a visit. It is great value for money with its sizeable portions and delicious Kebabs. The staff are not very friendly but they are polite. You get a lentil soup and a plate of Torshi (pickled vegetables) on the house which is nice.

I strongly recommend the mixed grill if you go there as a couple as it is amazing value for money. You can see the photograph that I have attached and judge for yourself, all of this for £18!

It gets busy at the weekend but it being busy adds to the experience in my opinion. My favourite single dish would be the kofte kebab and my only complain would be the rice which isn't as good as the rest of the food.

I would recommend giving Azmar a go.

Supremely friendly, helpful and generous staff. We were amazed at the amount of free starters offered, salads, hummus, lentil soup and more bread than you could eat. Prices very reasonable, service was spot on, swift, obliging and friendly. We were a group of ten and were all served at the same time which was great. Very generous servings and overall atmosphere. Be prepared to wait as it does get very busy, and I'm not surpised why! You can a lot more for a lot less for these meals elsewhere but you will certainly not be disappointed dining here.

This restaurant was very hospitable and once we sat at the table, the waiter loaded the table with different condiments and nans!.. all were delicious!.. the kabab platters are slightly small as compared to the ones I’ve had before but they were very filling and we were a family of four and ordered 3 platters. Service was very good and overall we had a great experience.

Really great place to come and eat with friends or family. Delicious food, great staff, and quick service. It is very affordable and truly tastes amazing. They give a wide range of starters for free, my favourite being the lentil soup and hummus and also give fresh warm bread.

Azmar is Egware Road’s hidden gem. Cash only, no reservation available, no booze; however, worth coming again and again. I have visited Azmar a couple times with different squads and almost everyone loved their food. Their lamb dishes are very impressive (approved by a mate who has been in Iraq) As dish names are not in English, please find the first few images as my top recommendation. Also their bread and side dishes are nice. Azmar is a place you would like to go with adventurous, open-minded, non-vegetarian friends. In consideration of their dining space , large portion of their food, and the possibility of joining the 20-minute queue during peak time, I believe coming as a group of 3-4 people will be the most ideal.

Update from 2023: I liked the complimentary food appetisers ( 3 different dishes). The food was nice but I’d recommend kebab or quzi in this restaurant. From 2021: Iraqi-Kurdish cuisine excellent food though it’s little salty. I’m a customer since 2009. It could be very busy and unfortunately they don’t take reservations. The service is excellent and the prices is cheap relative to other restaurants in London. The food in the photos cost about £50 and it’s enough for 4 people!

Probably the best middle eastern taste one can find in London. I'm the type of guy who doesn't get addicted to a certain taste very easily but believe me when I say that I have been to Azmaar more than 5 times and every single time I was served with the same and amazing taste and even the quality is top notch. When you go to the restaurant, you are given Tandoori Naan, Hummus, portion of Salad and Dal and then you order the main dishes plus tea after you are done with your meal. I went to Azmaar yesterday and one of my friends was late and I and my other friend were supposed to be waiting for him but we started because the Tandoor Naan, the Dal and the Hummus is irresistible. We ordered Lamb Kofta with Biryani and the taste is very middle eastern like and very filling too. I would recommend my friends who do not eat much spicy food to go here atleast once and you'll want to go again. Amazing service and nice and comfy ambiance, 5 stars!!!

An outstanding welcome by the Boss and his teams, testifying all the sense of hospitality of his People, Irakians !! We felt part of the family once we walked in the place. And the food is properly delightful, our dinner was like a trip in bagdad ! And watching the cooker preparing his breads and introducing then in the traditional owen is also amazing !! A big thanks to Azmar !! 👍
