Best sushi in London! The price is high but the quality it's worth it! Everyone speaks Japanese! The fish is very fresh. Ideal to try Japanese dishes other than sushi and sashimi.

My favourite place on Earth! Beautiful waitstaff, beautiful food, beautiful atmosphere! At Kikuchi, the star of the meal is the food, not the design! So much dedication for the art of Japanese cuisine and highlights it to make the reason of dining there, the food. Fresh ingredients were evident. I've never had better sushi that I've had at Kikuchi!!

There's an argument - a strong argument - that Japanese cuisine is the pinnacle of human achievement in gastronomy. Japan is a country that has, by most measures, devoted itself to the cause of good eating and drinking to a degree hardly matched anywhere on the planet; a nation of producers, chefs and diners of exquisite taste and infinite capacity for skill and invention, where you can eat extraordinarily well from the very cheapest noodle shops to the highest of high-end kaiseki multi-course tasting menus. The French, the Spanish, and the Italians may fight their corners pretty well, but deep down I suspect even they know the truth - the Japanese have spent thousands of years quietly dedicated to eating as well as they possibly can, and there's nobody else can touch them.

Good, traditional sushi. One of the best sushi restaurants in London, nicer atmosphere since the refurbishment, too.

Fatty o-toro tuna was, as expected, the standout for flavour. Marbled like a fine steak, potentially an ecological worry but unavoidably gorgeous. Eel was dark and brooding, a tang of the estuary to go with the fresh flesh of the open sea. Buttery and sweet silken tuna reared its fin again as thickly sliced yellowtail sashimi, close to perfect for my gaijin tastes.

It's small and basic, but jam packed with tables full of Japanese businessmen eating fresh sashimi and knocking back the sake like it's going out of style.

I've been keen to eat at Kikuchi for a while, having had it recommended to me countless times and after several false starts I finally made it there, not once but twice in the last fortnight. My first stop there was for a midweek catch-up with E (being ha

Kikuchi is simply brilliant. The food is fresh and delicious and that sushi chef guy looks bona fide and those knives behind him? Yeah, don’t mess with the guy.

Food history is always an interesting read. Most of the evolution of modern day food has been esoterically documented, parts of it excitingly shrouded in folklore, but always, food is something inextricable linked to the life of the times. In the case of

I haven't seen Rutton since the wedding. HIS wedding. So we make plans to meet up. I think maybe Roka, but something in me wants something less "all that." I just want sushi. I don't want pretty cocktails. I also want to give Rutton shit for putting me at

If you are a hardcore Japanese lover, then this is the place for you which offers high quality Japenese food but of course at equally high prices. The majority of diners are Japenese only which all the more enhances the authenticity of this place. Even though this place is not for tourists and is a bit scruffy but proves to be a decent deal as the food is just awesome, especially Sushi and they also have a wide variety of high quality Sake as well. If you really don't care about the prices, this place is a pretty good experience because of it's excellent food quality.

This is a nice Japanese place to go to if you're partying or treating because it might be a bit expensive otherwise. The food tastes great and is very authentic, the prices however, are very high and the portions small. The food is freshly prepared and the combos available are great.

A nice Japanese local restaurant in the neighborhood. The food is delicious and is reasonably priced. The buckwheat noodles and the soba noodles are a must try. The portions are also generous with spot on service. Prior reservations are recommended. The atmosphere is buzzing with a lot of enthusiastic people.

This place is located in a small street and serves authentic Japanese food. The food is purely delightful and the Sashimi is one the best I've ever had. The place does not offer typical food that you would find in many other Japanese restaurant, but serves diverse food dishes. The service is great, with efficient and friendly staff, though some servers may not speak English fluently.

A Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood.
The staff is unfriendly but not trained. When asked for advice on what should be ordered, she shrugged apologetically.
The food was delicious.
The portions are just decent.
The prices are not cheap, but not too expensive either.
When compared to its several substitutes, its a steal.

This place has the best sushi of this city. I read a review a couple of weeks back in a reputed newspaper, and I knew that my search was the best and most reasonably priced sushi was over. I don't really prefer places like the fancy sushi places that are so popular- a sushi experience is made by having delicious sushi, not by good-looking people. Sushi needs to be simple, fresh and of a very good quality. Everything here was brilliant, especially the stir fried aubergine, the miso soup and the tuna. This place is authentic and excellent.

I accidentally visited this restaurant and believe me people, it was a really good choice. This place serves some really authentic Japanese food and if you have a craving for it, then this is the place to visit. The place though is a small one and may become really crowded at times, therefore, I recommend you all to make a reservation before going there. This place has criteria regarding the prices but it is definitely worth it considering the portions that are served. I had sashimi and tuna which was absolutely delicious and I would be returning to this place again very soon.

This place offers one of the best sushi I have eaten in London till now. If high standards and delectable taste are what you care about rather than fancy stuff that has nothing to do with sushi, then this is the place that you must visit. The prices cannot be called affordable but the sushi commands every penny. The service was also quick and efficient. Go here for the quality!

It is difficult to find food that you would come back for in London. However, it is even more of a task to find such sushi here. There might always be a difference in what you pay for and what you get. This place has the highest standard of tuna which is difficult to get your hands on. Though, it is priced accordingly as well, very expensive. I can even compare the sushi provided here with that in Tokyo and there will probably be no difference. I would recommend you every dish on the menu here except the uni. Worth a visit!

I had Aburi Otoro and must say that it was very well-prepared though a bit on an expensive side. The downside for me was the steamed Matsusaka beef which was undercooked. The ambience was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Overall, a very nice experience. Might visit this place some time again. I don't think you will find a better place to have sushi.

It has to be one of the best Spanish restaurant in London for the prices one has to shell out.
On the many occasions that i have come here, the food has been consistently good.
The starters have been a delight.
The ambiance of the restaurant is of the 20th century and quite appealing.
Shall definitely come again.

This place was quite a treat and very enjoyable! The sushi was fresh and excellent here. The tempura however, was exceptionally average. The rest of the food was served beautifully with perfection. It was a bit pricey but in my opinion it was well worth it. The service was also a treat!

It is very difficult to have a good sushi experience in this city, and I am delighted that I stumbled upon this place. We have been looking for a good sushi place for two years now, and this restaurant compensates for every bad sushi experience we have had. We have been visiting regularly ever since, and have never once been disappointed. Definitely recommend it to people who are looking to have a genuine sushi experience in the city.

You generally get what you pay for, one way or another. Take Kikuchi, for instance: in passing you'd think it was a run down dive of a Japanese restaurant - decor isn't a strong point in this place, especially when you compare it to the entrance of Hakkasan that's within eye shot.

But aesthetics clearly isn't the point with Kikuchi. No, this place is all about the atmosphere, and more importantly, the food. It's one of those lovely Japanese places where the service all cheer as you come in, cheer while you're ordering, cheer as they bring the food and then finally cheer as you walk out. And although the place is nothing to look at, it's clean, intimate and authentic, oozing atmosphere as a result. In fact, I'd say I felt very much out of place during my time there, almost like a tourist.

The food was marvellous, if a bit on the small side. The fish, cooked or raw, was yummy, the tempura delectable and the Japanese omelette different enough. The cruel size of the portions meant we had to order a lot, something that was reflected in the final bill of £160 for the three of us (although that did include a couple of sake bottles). As wonderful as the food was, that's still quite the tally.

So yes, ultimately you really do get what you pay for; I guess what you have to decide when faced with a delight like Kikuchi is how much you really want excellent Japanese food!

Top notch Omakase and service. Had a great Saturday evening at Kikuchi. The omakase tasting menu was well rounded and satisfying. Pace was relaxed and plate serving was synchronized. Staff were very attentive and took care of the table allowing guests to enjoy the food, drinks and each other’s company. The chef is a master of his craft with good attention to detail and fish slices scored to enhance texture. Although the selection may not include the most rare fish varieties, the array of offerings, from toro to uni, will fulfill the desires of most sushi aficionados. The omakase was well worth the price being in Central London. A fantastic experience I wouldn’t hesitate going back to and recommending to friends. *Missed a few dishes and dessert in the photos.

We came for the omakase tasting menu which I really enjoyed. It consisted of appetisers (fish soup and uni), selection of sashimi (fresh and tasty) grilled dish (miso cod), selection of sushi (favourite part of the meal and came in 3 rounds), miso soup and dessert (sesame mochi with fruit). It was £120 but we were left feeling full and satisfied. The service was really polite and attentive.

Best omakase in london. Forget the boring flashy spots. This is the most authentic Japenese omakase restaurant in london. Every fish is sourced from the best possible place and their sake selection is TOP!

Amazing food! Incredibly fresh and tasteful dishes. We went for Omakase tasting option. It is highly recommended as you can get to taste full range of appetisers, sushi, sashimi, grilled fish and dessert. Service is very good. I loved the pace at which each dish arrived, not too fast not too slow, just at the right time. Staff is very polite and courteous. We will definitely be returning soon!

Good quality sushi in this local Japanese sushi joint. Everyone who worked there was Japanese and the food quality was very good. A few points which I found quite annoying: 1. There is a minimum spend per person. Now we were over the minimum spend but there was something awkward about having to spend a certain amount on food. The minimum spend of £55 each doesn’t include alcohol or drinks. 2. The rolls on the menu should be split into maki or any other variety of rolls. It wasn’t clear what kind of rolls were being sold. Service was very good and the experience was good overall but I think there are some areas of improvident 😊 🙏🏽

Small Japanese sushi restaurant for some authentic and fresh Japanese sushi. All staffs are Japanese which felt like I was in Japan. I really think this is great place if you want some real fresh sushi set meal. All the seafood were fresh and high end for sure. The rest of the omakase dishes weren’t that impressive like the grilled fish, chawanmushi and miso soup. Don’t think they specialise in these dishes. Overall this is a great Japanese restaurant for some lovely sushi 🍣 dishes!

Authentic Japanese restaurant. Nice place for casual dining. Lost one star because the tuna and sea urchin quality is so so, and sushi rice can be better.

It’s a proper Japanese sushi omakase place. Honestly the appetisers and sushi from omakase course are only decent. My favourite were Salmon roe gunkan and Mackerel and these were absolutely fabulous and exquisite. I was very impressed by these. I would definitely visit again but I would order selection of sushi and sashimi as my preference rather than ordering omakase.

We sat at the counter for a true omakase experience where the nigiri was served one by one (if you sit at a regular table they are all served at once). It was truly enjoyable, the appetisers were perhaps a little safe but the selection of nigiri was delicious. From yellowtail, fatty tuna to eel, with their own blend of soy sauce and natural wasabi, every piece was very satisfying. They were all tender and not fishy. It was a shame that uni season is in the winter so we didn't get that. It was amazing to see the master sushi chef at work, his incredible knifework and attention to detail was mesmerising. The service was attentive and very friendly. Just before I finished the cup of green tea, I was served a new one. Would love to go back in the winter to get uni!

All the expense here goes into the food, which is no bad thing. Stay for the Grade-A sushi and sashimi, expertly prepared by the talented sushi master. Karaage chicken was great too. Would have liked a few more sake on the menu. Will definitely go back.

Food was amazing! On a expensive side, but quality fresh fish makes it worth your hardly earned money. Tuna melts in your mouth! I went fo sashimi platter and extra sashimi as it tasted good. Also had some sake, by the way they have plethora to choose from. Staff was helpful and very polite- courtesy of Japanese culture. Definitely a 5 star experience

In a group of two, went in without any particular expectation, surprised by the minimum price but that soon got forgotten by the food and authentic service. We ordered classic tempura mix, sashimi mix set and buckwheat (cold) noodles, and all of those dishes were easily the top 3 of the top notch high quality Japanese I’ve (we’ve) ever had. The quality of preparation of Sashimi, and the sophisticated richness yet a simple clear-souped buckwheat noodles were did not cease to amaze us. Pleased and satisfied as we walked out.

Lovely lovely place. Went there with my partner yesterday to celebrate his birthday. We had the omakase menu. Some of the most beautiful and delicate sushi I've had in a very long time. Included was also some wagyu beef, which is so delicate. The taste and texture were exquisite. We also ordered the sake tasting menu. Three very lovely sakes that went well with the food. Loved it. I highly recommend Kikuchi. I think it's pretty certain we shall return to enjoy their sushi. Sorry for the quality of my photos. They don't do the food justice.
