this is such a cute little shop with a wide variety of teas, cakes and coffee. there's a load of gluten free cake options too. you enter through the london review book shop. there's not many tables so you may have to wait. I had a rose and pistachio cake which was so yum. I had it with a white peony tea with whole rosebuds.

Great book shop. I could have bought so many books on my visit... I was being good and came away with two! The staff in the book shop went out of their way to help with my enquires. Definitely will be going back. Cafe was excellent.

The absence of free wifi was slightly out of character for this kind of place but the spectacular cooking can make up for that, and then some.

Small shop with a wide range of literature and non-fiction, as well as the usual bestsellers tucked in amongst them. My first stop for anything literature or poetry related. Also a good place for a cup of tea. A few tables in the square out back too.

Great place to unwind with a cup of coffee and cake. The space was a bit tight but this wasn't an issue. It's better suited for individuals or couples over larger groups. I tried the flat white and the macadamia and toffee cheesecake.
Ambience: Very Good
Food/ Drinks: Very good
Service: Good
Value for money: Good
My recommendation: Try their cheesecake

This was one of my favourite cafés in London:) I lived in London for a year & visited this café very often. An amazing cozy vibe, a snug corner of a wonderful bookstore, healthy & delicious food, scrumptious baked goodies & a great selection of teas from around the world. I really love this café!😃

What a little gem in the heart of Bloomsbury. Lovely outdoor courtyard - very European.
Wonderful calm and well stocked book store inside. Staff very welcoming and smiley. I am thrilled to discover this little treasure.

This cafe is small, so expect it to get super crowded. I used to study here a lot (by myself, which definitely helped me get a seat pretty much every time), but have started going less just because I get really distracted by either people watching or going to the adjacent London Review Bookshop.

Other than that, though, this cafe is one of the loveliest places in the city. The location next to the British Museum is really handy, and the food offerings are always good. They've got a wide selection of cakes ranging from super-duper sweet to not as much, and having options is always nice. The savo(u)ry menu changes, but the last time I was there I had the double waffle with kimchi and bacon. I am partial to waffles, so I really liked this dish, but even if I wasn't I still would've really liked this dish anyway.

I'm no tea connoisseur -- or any kind of connoisseur, for that matter -- but the tea selection is really extensive. Staff is really nice and knowledgeable about what's on the menu, which teas go with which cakes, etc. They also have this nice little ritual about pouring tea, etc that you'll just have to visit to experience.

Lovely!. I love that this is so close to the British Museum but still feels a little out of the way. I quite enjoyed my quiche and the orange-almond cake was great. An added bonus was that the cafe is attached to the bookshop so on my way out I managed to find a fantastic book to buy as well!

The tea was lovely, as teas go. The cookie was a little too buttery for my liking and thank heavens the lavender was hardly distinguishable - I'm not a fan of lavender in my food.

London Review Cake Shop. Yep, that's where I ended up today. How? God only knows. But I'm glad I did. Admittedly this isn't as much a coffee connaiseur's place as the other ones I've recently visited and written about. Don't get me wrong, the coffee is go

One of my favorite lunch spots in London, the London Review Bookshop Cakeshop is a hidden gem in Bloomsbury - and it's not just all about cakes. Their soups, salads, and quiche are served with flair. On Friday, the quinoa and kale salad had me hankering for a second helping. Crunchy, sweet, just a little bit spicy and moorish, I could have easily polished off a second helping. It's some of the best lunch food you'll find in Central London.

The only downside is finding a seat in the cramped tiny room. Arrive at 12:30 and you'll still need to elbow your way in to a seat or wait until an older couple finishes their third copy. On Friday, a lady had claimed her spot at a large table with a copy of Middlemarch (as she should!), leaving little room for lunchtime commuters like me and my friend.

Still, it's a place I return to again and again as a treat and the food never, ever disappoints. They serve a wide range of Jing teas and delicious cakes - the apple and earl grey called out to me at my visit, but I valiantly resisted. Well done, me.

The London Review Bookshop Cafe offers an oasis of calm from the busy Covent Garden / Bloomsbury area of London.

I managed to pick up a lovely piece of Rose and Pistachio Gluten Free Cake which was lovely.  Unfortunately the cafe is quite small and it was packed when we visited so we had our cake to go (placed in a little take away box) and ordered our drinks and sat downstairs at the table in the lower level of the bookshop and had a girly gossip while eating gluten free cake.

The cake was lovely however just be wary that the cafe can get super busy.

What better way than to order one of Terry Glover’s brilliant cakes? And yes two – yes yes you read that right two pots of Tea. To say that the London review Bookshop is neighbours with Le Cordon Bleu which has its own little cafe’ attached is no small matter. I must say the Le Cordon Bleu has a highly distinguished neighbour :)
So after indulging ourselves in a heavenly pot of tea from Sri Lanka called”chai-tea” ( I will rant about why it irks me to see 2 words with the same meaning used to name a variety of tea and fast becoming an acceptable ways of referring to Indian tea – NO folks chai is tea in Hindi – ”simples”!!) with a generous amount of honey to sweeten it , we were ready to face the world – or win a war whichever came first.

The bookshop is a treat for any self respecting book lover and a must-visit place, they have a basement reading room of sorts which is super quiet and a great cubby hole to loose yourself in. Perfect for when you want to switch off from the world outside – which I would like to very often.

The perfect place for literature lovers, the London Review Cake Show is a small but wonderful place to get tea and cakes while reading the latest literary periodicals. The cafe joins on to the London Review Bookshop, which allows you to browse the best selection of titles in London before taking your recent purchases next door to read afterwards. The cakes and pastries are nice (if a little overpriced) but the selection of teas is truly exquisite: there's a huge range of choices and whichever you choose you're given an extra pot of hot water so you can really take your time with your drink. With free copies of the London Review of Books provided on the cafe's tables too, this is a place not to be missed.

Strangely, the London Review of Books cake shop doesn't really provide a great atmosphere for reading books. No comfy chairs or corners to settle into for hours at a time (unless it's sunny outside... read on). However, it pulls up the slack in other places. The first is that it is annexed to a gloriously diverse book shop full of the highest quality reads. The cake shop itself takes great care with the quality of the beverages it serves and the cakes are deliciously made. The place is small but it packs a punch. My favourite part is actually outside, making this a good one to visit in the summer. At this time you can sit in the square terrace and achieve the hours long reading experience you expect when you visit a book shop cafe, comfortably safe from the sweatily bustling tourists just a stone's throw away.

This is the place to take a date for tea. Well, I speak from the perspective of a former arts student . But still, this little tea shop is annexed to simply the nicest book-shop in London - a little, bespoke affair, where every volume seems to be meticulously hand-picked. Once you've had your pick of book-purchasing, you wonder next door to be delighted by the beautiful little cake shop. It's just the right amount of hip, just the right amount of kitsch. If you hang out here, you'll feel like part of the literati in no time.

Screw Flanders.

UP DATED REVIEW: If I could give this tiny little cafe 10* I would. Every time I visit I'm soooo impressed with the menu, amazing chef, food interesting and always flavoursome. Friendly staff too. UP DATE: Visited (August 2020) I witnessed full Covid safety procedures, with social distancing and all the very friendly staff were all wearing masks and face sheilds. An outdoor eating area is available during the weekend around the back, otherwise I believe it's take-aways, but do check website for more information. The food here is still incredible! Never have I been disappointed with their fantastic ever changing menu. This talented chef works magic producing amazing combinations with such interesting ingredients. It's a joy to eat here. Yesterday we visited yet again and yes, at first I was a little disappointed that the food came in take away boxes - but I am soooooo glad I ordered... yummy yummy yummy 😋 Thanks guys, all your efforts are well appreciated during these difficult times.

Delicious cakes! Also - they give you a large pot of hot water so you can top up your tea, which is much appreciated. I had mushroom soup, which was very tasty!

Cake was unbelievable! I wasn't expecting the cake to be homemade but I was happily surprised. I’m very picky with my desserts and I was blown away.

Lovely coffee shop with amazing home bakes and good coffee. Not too many tables so need to get their early or be prepared to wait a bit. Must also visit the book shop. Great range of books to browse. Lovely way to spend an afternoon. Outside seating also available.

I love it here but couldn't give it five stars for the simple reason that every time I go (which is relatively often as I work nearby) the slices of cake get smaller and smaller and they certainly aren't cheap. That said the tea is lovely and the coffee excellent (although they don't do skinny milk.).
