One of my all time favourite watering holes in London. Been going there for over 20 years and thankfully it doesn't change. Many an excellent glass of wine has been consumed over the years, not to mention a Sunday lunch time Bloody Mary to kick start me from the previous nights over indulgence. Invariably my first stop when arriving back in London

The best bar in town for interesting company and intelligent conversation especially during the afternoons. Shankar Thapa. Thank you for your appreciation of my link to Lee's short video about the French House in Soho. What a Great bar ! You may be interested to know that there are historical links to Lee's other video about " Dean's Bar " in Tangier. As Francis Bacon and many others from Soho frequented that establishment many years ago.

A lovely time machine to a small Victorian dining room in Soho where good taste dominates over leisurely lunch and fine wine and time winds down

A bit of French history in Soho, in a small little pub. It really feels like being in a bar in France with wine bottles covering the walls.
A true traditional pub with a no technology policy, "no music", "no machines", "no television", "no phone" rule ensures conversion and conviviality can take place at normal levels. I liked the concept to minimize the adverse efforts modern technology and relate more to humans then technology.
This place has loads of interesting photographs, pictures and memorabilia from theater days, mostly passed, on the walls.
The Breton cider that everyone touts is really is worth trying but then so is the experience of raising a glass in a genuine historic and still-vibrant club.
Serve beer in half pint and dint serve pints.
It's a great place to relax with a glass of wine and chat or just sit quietly in the corner and just watch people. The cliental tend to spill out onto the street at here weekends as it gets rather crowded and this adds to the atmosphere.
A must visit if you are wandering around Soho in need of a drink!

Good Pub. A nice pub with a good of eclectic mix of Sohoites, pre or post theatre goers, stragglers and people waiting for a table to become free in Polpetto upstairs.

Pomme Frites!. From this historic boozer the French resistance plotted against Hitler. Still a busy place cramped with interesting conversation. Upstairs, the best steak and chips with peppercorn sauce anywhere, ever! A good wine list completes the experience.

The French House located in Soho is an fabulous and entertaining spot to raise a glass in London!
Famous actors, artists, writers, royalty bohemians visits this venue to catch up with for a drinks.  It is also know as a place no music, no machines, no television and phones rule makes it a haven for conversationalists and a firm favourite among some of the best known names in showbusiness.
I can recommend to try the Canard Duchine Champagne or the Prosecco Sparkling wine.
Amazing venue, good service!

An institution for decades. Totally unpretentious with friendly staff and good selection of beer and wine. It does get busy, but this is Soho! Mostly packed with locals escaping the false schmaltz of other Soho watering holes.

If I had a restaurant, this is the kind I’d want; small, relaxed and with the kind of food I love to eat. We could have chosen everything off the menu and what we did have was absolutely delicious. The madeleines are a must-have highlight! The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and clearly passionate about what they do. The only down-side was the scruffy loo but this was Soho on a busy Friday night and is probably shared with the pub downstairs.

We had a great evening. The food was delicious albeit all the mains were steak ! So no good for fish lovers or vegetarians. Great service from Jazz.

Went to the bar downstairs. Great evening. Really nice crowd. Great staff. Rolling artwork. The Guinness is one of the best you’d get outside Dublin! Nice bottled ciders too. Loved the no pints policy - draft beers by the glass only!!!

Loved my solo dinner date here. Good, French brasserie style food. Can be funny eating out on your own sometimes, but the staff made me feel more than welcome - they made it fun.

Just fabulous and authentic and exceeds your expectations. Feels like a cozy French pub in Paris. I didn’t think much about pubs as an American but I had a really good time here- love the mini pints

The French house is cool. In a great spot in soho, they do a very nice own lager that comes in nice half pint sizes. It is a good place to go. I am yet to try the food here but maybe one day

One of the best places in London to have a drink. Expect it to be busy and full of interesting people. If you can plan ahead and make a reservation, the restaurant upstairs is intimate and serves exceptional food.
