Camden is full of places to get a decent bite, some are great and others are just a place to fuel up and move on. I'm not really a fan of BBQ but I think Porky's definitely falls into the great category. Their menu isn't extensive but what they do have sounds very appealing. I had to make the difficult decision between ribs and burger but in the end I compromised and went for burger with the burnt ends. This was a great choice, the burger itself is made from brisket which meant it was nice and moist and the burnt ends were soft and had just the right amount of fat. The burger was slightly on the small side and does not come with chips - I would say this place is a little on the expensive side but it is nice to know where the half decent restaurants are in Camden so you don't end up wasting your time queueing hours for a not so great place.
A favorite place to visit when in Camden and after a hearty meal. This is not a vegetarian friendly place (though they suppose to have a veggie burger), but if you love your meat smokey, tender and in large portions, you are very likely to be happy at Porky's.
The atmosphere is unpretentious and welcoming, molded after the American BBQ places of Memphis, or so it claims. The service is friendly and quick, all of our special requests and dietary requirements were met with a smile. The food is served in those old school "Soviet Russia kindergarten nostalgia" enamel tin plates and cups, which seems to be trending trough several places in town. Hipsters, hipsters everywhere!
We ordered the signature pulled pork that is smoked for 18 hours, a porky's burger and half BBQ chicken, with sides of house salad and Iceberg wedge. The pork was saculent and tender, with strong smoky flavour, the chicken was smothered in BBQ sauce and the crispy fresh side vegetable made us feel a little bit less guilty for our gluttony.
For those who's eyes are bigger than their stomach, like myself, doggy bags were happily provided.
With no room left for dessert, we left porky's happy and full, and promised to ourselves to order less food next time!

Fantastic ! I could see myself going back here in a heartbeat; really easy going place, lots of character, and really friendly atmosphere. Check it out !
After a late night visit, we were sat straight away upon arrival. Our order was also taken straight away as nothing else but the burgers were ordered of course. The Pulled Pork Burger and the Chilli Burger. Both fantastic in flavour. Fantastic portion with good quality meat in-between the buns. The crisp bacon had topped it off for the Pulled Pork Burger but the number 1 burger of the night was the Chilli Burger. Not as spicy as we thought. Very hackable in other words for the non-spicy lovers out there. The chilli con carne on top of the beef patty is what made the burger for us with the combination of the Jack Cheese to serve what was a fantastic burger. A Definite recommend.
Excellent burgers and pulled pork. The service was friendly and there were loads of good side options - a very tasty meal.
Much has been the success of Pitt Cue Co, being synonymous with long waiting times, it's a surprise there hasn't been many that have challenged them for their BBQ crown, or at least appease the growing appetite for smoked meats. John Salt may have taken their ex-head chef but Rankin's use of the BBQ ends far beyond typical American cuisine. The Rotary Bar & Diner now has smoked barbecue offerings as an extension to their menu. So introducing Porky's, an unashamed American style barbecue joint, offering pulled pork, ribs & tips with house made pickles (sound familiar?). Just down the road from Camden Lock, it's a great addition to an area which is overwhelmed with diversity from traders at the market, but less so in quality that you would actually travel for.
Testament to the lengths they have gone to make this authentic as possible they shipped a smoker across the pond (does no one make these over here? I know the rotary had to do the same). Their main dishes are Memphis style ribs and tips, pulled pork and BBQ chicken cooked low and slow over hickory. Sides include garlic brioche, BBQ beans, mac'n'cheese and fried sweet potatoes.
Arriving on tin trays, ubiquitous with this cusine, the pulled pork was a giant portion. The ribs were belly ribs (£9.50) which were quite tender and subtle smokey flavour hidden underneath the BBQ sauce. The house pickles were a bit of a disappointment mainly due to my dislike of beetroot but the vingear overpowered the rest of the pickles. The pulled pork (£8.75) was great; deep smokey flavour and very succulent.
The sides were a mixed bunch, the mac'n'cheese was as good as I've had, and the sweet potato fries were brilliant - would have these over conventional chips any day. The BBQ beans were a bit bland, lacking in seasoning. The garlic brioche was inspired, could have eaten a whole loaf worth of this, or at least enough to make me gluten intolerant.
It's fantastic value as well, just about £75 between 3, including drinks, dessert and a side each. Perfect as now I'm feeling the pinch after eating out too much! It helps they are just around the corner, will definitely be back. I hear once they find their feet they will have specials, here's hoping for some brisket.
We were walking through the camden market when we both decided to get something to eat. My wife didn't feel like eating at a stall so we started looking around and came across the Camden BBQ and what made the decision for us was the fact that they had seven nation army playing in the background.
The food was delicious: it was one of the best pulled pork I ever had. My wife loved her Cheeseburger and the cheese fries with bacon were amazing! The atmosphere was great, with good music and decor. The staff was awesome! Very friendly and engaging, we just started chatting with them about Halloween, about the music, about photography.
All in all, can't recommend the place enough! :D
We stumbled across this restaurant today.
Worth a visit as the food was delicious. We went further our of Camden Market so we could sit down for dinner.
I had the pull pork sandwich with fries. My Auntie had half rack of ribs. Delicious! Reasonable price to.
WiFi wasn't working.
Staff were friendly.
Every time we are going to Camden we have to come there to eat. Locations is great very close to the market, staff is very polite and professional. Usually I'm having the Alabama peach ice tea cocktail which is my favourite and i also recommend the pulled pork sandwich that is amazing. We love this place
*dog friendly* Great little find in Camden away from the crazy food stall bonanza in the market. Great burgers. Loved the lettuce wedge. Thought the fries could do with more cheese and bacon. The wings were tasty but over cooked and very small. Great service and friendly staff.
Excellent BBQ: sweet, smoky, juicy, a bit spicy, falling off the bone. Great staff, good music, and the lager is AAA!
Pretty good barbecue restaurant in Camden - I've been here twice, once a few years ago when it used to be called Porky's BBQ (the waitress informed me it has just been rebranded, not taken over or anything). The first time I had the ribs/pulled pork mix, and the second (today) just the full rack of ribs - worth noting the full rack is £18 on Wednesdays compared to £24 usually. And pretty nice overall, the ribs maybe a little dry at points, I remember the pulled pork being very good. Slightly expensive with the ribs if you want fries as they are not included, but burgers are a bit cheaper. Definitely worth a try overall id say!
Camden BBQ, previously known as
Porkys, has simply the best smoked chicken wings ever, Onion rings, Mac and cheese “yum” The past few weeks I’ve been sampling various dishes and cocktails and honestly this is one of the best places to eat in Camden.
As mentioned the (Buffalo Wings
with their famous hot sauce and served with celery and a blue cheese dip is sensational)
I also tried the Buffalo Chicken Burger
Spicy buffalo sauce, jalapeños, and blue cheese. Free-range chicken thighs marinaded in butter milk and fried with spiced breadcrumbs, served in a bun with iceberg lettuce, tomato relish, wow delicious. I also took the opportunity to try the (Kung Pao wings, covered in asian spicy BBQ sauce, coriander and crispy onions)
I don't know why thought I could eat so much but I also had the fully loaded fries, be careful if you don’t like Pork because it come with it but Alex made sure she warned me so my serving was without the pork.
The serving was amazing and I could not finish it alone. All of those flavours excited my tastebuds, it was truly delicious.
The atmosphere in this branch is so very camden, beautifully laid out and spacious with plenty of space between tables. You can sit outside as the whole front opens out into the street, or for more privacy you can sit in the back in the well lit outside area.
The bar has a great range and the staff make amazing cocktails. The staff are great and very attentive and friendly so you fell well looked after. All in all I really enjoyed the food and will be back with friends.
How to get there, if you come out of Camden Town underground, turn right and walk towards the market, walk over the bridge and keep going and its opposite the entrance under the railway bridge. Let me know what you think of the food i would love to hear your feedback, i loved it. I took a few photos of my experience for you, enjoy.
Close to Camdem Market, good prices during happy hour. The beer is good, recommended.
We arrived at a less busy time on a Wednesday. Loved the place, the choice of music, and the service was great, very friendly. We ordered a range from the menu, all choices were excellent, washed down with a local beer.
We'll certainly be returning to Camden BBQ.
Dad really did enjoy his full rack of baby ribs (£18 on Wednesdays). 🥩🤪 Thank you!
The ribs were a little dry but it's a nice place with friendly staff
Highly recommended.
They actually do good stuff here that tastes like stuff you get in the southern US.
had the pulled pork sandwich and it was seriously like I was back in the states again.
So i really recommend this place 5 out of 5!!!
Food was great. Burgers had a nice grilled flavour. Fries were decent too.
Busy when we arrived, but near empty when we left in the afternoon. Would go back again.
Update: just to be sure this place is good, I visited this place a second time. The wings - are RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. I also tried a simple cheeseburger and have to say it was in my top 5 burgers of all time. Why? The beef brisket is incredible. You know a burger is brilliant when you dare not put ketchup anywhere near it... Cos you Dare Not spoil the taste. Some have said the drinks are expensive... but if you stick to beer and wine - the prices are the same as most pubs and restaurants in the area - not crazy. If you’re thinking about it - stop thinking - GO!!!

It was nice. The vibe is chill.
The smoky BBQ burger was pretty good. The apple cider was great!
Only issue was the service time. It took them a lot of time to make our order.
We booked well in advance, based around the reviews I could find and after visiting the website. As we were only in Camden Town for 1 night and not local to the area, we wanted a relaxed and informal meal for a corporate meal, party of 5 and were ideally looking for a local independent.
The service from James was excellent, from start to finish, he was unique and attentive and seemed to actually have a passion for providing GREAT service, which is becoming more and more elusive to find!
The food was very good. A simple, but really well executed menu, emphasis on great quality ingredients, cooked very well. The Burgers were some of the best any of us had tried and food is very reasonably priced - Would definitely recommend and will certainly visit again!!!
Nailed it.
Great place for all the family to enjoy. Food and staff are excellent. The manager Nico is one of the friendliest people you could meet and very helpful, highly recommend visiting here.
Amazing place, good music in the background. The service is amazing.
We were a group of 4, got different burgers and all of them were delicious. The beer and the cider are great.
