The lamb was lovely and tender and I loved every bite. The restaurant looks great with the dark wood and the bar area is definitely somewhere I want to check out in the future. The only fault was that I felt service was quite slow. But highly recommend this place for date nights and after work drinks.
For the entree we had the croquetas and it had a lot of flavour. The flavour of the fresh tomatoes and herbs with small specks of different sauces complimented each other. Mains we opted for the lamb and cod. The lamb was divine! It was full of flavour and it was really soft and well cooked. The fish has a more subtle flavour which was nice but I preferred the lamb. For dessert we had ice creams and the chocolate cake which was their dessert of the day. Both dessert was beautiful and we even mixed them together which made it better. The freshness of the ice cream and sorbet balanced out the sweetness of the chocolate cake. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it here. I will definitely be coming back
Shoreditch Chic. I had my first meal at McQueen a couple of nights ago and I have to say that I was very surprised but the quality of the food & service. I normally don't rate Restaurants attached to Clubs and/or Bar but this is really an exception. The menu is based on American Grill and the steaks really are awesome. After dinner we continued the evening in the Lounge Bar which serves top notch cocktails... I highly recommend McQueen.
Ordinarily, a glitzy bar-cum-restaurant-cum-nightclub like McQueen in Shoreditch isn't the kind of place you'd find me having dinner. Aimed squarely at the kind of high-spending, hard-living City geezers 'n' gals who like their spirits premium, house happy and ropes velvet, it's somewhere I've always given a wide berth, even though I used to work just round the corner.
We got to McQueens at around midnight on a Saturday night. There wasn't a queue and we got in fairly quickly. We ordered some cocktails (including classic champagne cocktail). For the champagne cocktail they tried to get away with putting in cheap champagne instead of moet (which was stated on the menu).. after we caught them they tried to give us a discount before starting from scratch again. All in all the final drinks were great. It was a shame the bar closed at 1! Way toooo early. I personally didn't enjoy the music much but dance floor was good
McQueen is a great place to go out for drinks, dinner or a party. They have great parties with nice crowd so much different than what you see in Mayfair.
The decor is beautiful with impressive statues in the bar area. When they have organised parties is really cool. Everyone is there for the great music and atmosphere and I like to go back here because is clearly a wicked place.

I love it when things transpire in my favour (who wouldn’t?). McQueen was on my list and then lo and behold, a couple of months ago, Time Out had an offer for a discount on a meal there! What better excuse could I need to finally go and check it out?
I stumbled upon this place during one of my strolls through London and was intrigued by its location slightly off the beaten track of the Shoreditch triangle, and also its sleek look. I investigated what was on the inside and decided I wanted to try it.
McQueen, named for Steve McQueen has the lot – a restaurant, a bar and a downstairs club. Its design is supposed to emulate American cool, in homage to the coolest of cool cats, Steve McQueen himself. I think they do achieve the look they’re going for, the space is pleasing to be in, and the odd quirky, slightly gothic touch such as the candelabra or bizarre human tree sculpture gives the place a bit of personality. I do wonder if the clientele it attracts are quite what they had in mind – there were a lot of City types in there; young guys doing Sambucas on a Wednesday night and then patting themselves on the back after each one. (Well done guys, you can take a sugar hit.)
The restaurant was pretty empty when we got there at a little before 7, but it did get busier through the course of our meal. Our voucher was for a meal for two, for £25 for three courses and a bottle of wine. What a bargain! It was of course a set menu, basically one choice for meat eaters and one for the veggies, so Stephen and I had the same as each other for our starter and main. This was, a salmon and haddock fishcake on a bed of lentils, and then the bavette with thrice cooked chips and a turnip puree.
The fishcake was good – nice and crisp batter on the outside with big flakes of fish inside, the lentils were cooked perfectly for me and it all tasted great. I could have eaten more of it.
The bavette was decent but not the best steak I’ve ever had; it will take a long time for anything the beat the bavette at Vinoteca. We weren’t convinced that the chips were triple cooked, but they were fine as far as chips go, a little on the thin side. What really stole the show was the turnip puree. What a discovery! It was incredibly rich and pungent tasting, reminding me almost of truffles. Definitely miles above your normal creamed potato. When spooned onto the steak, it added a touch of luxury to every bite. This should be on more menus.
For our desserts Stephen and I diverged on choice. I had the chocolate fondant and he had the pecan pie. At first he proclaimed his very good, but then he decided that it could have been more moist. I certainly didn’t have that problem with my fondant, which oozed as a good fondant should, the moment I pierced it with my spoon. Stephen had food envy and with good reason. My dessert was rich, gooey, warm and tasty.
I asked for the bill even though we had prepaid and she said ‘no bill, you’ve paid already’. I had thought they might present us with one so that they could charge us for service and I was interested to see if it would be 12.5% on our voucher price, or what the meal would have cost normally. The fact that they did not even give us a bill was a big plus for them, and inclined me to leave a tip anyway.
We then went next door for a drink. The drinks were a leetle pricey but not too far above the average for Shoreditch. I enjoyed the setting despite the Suits, and we had a couple of seats at the bar, which is my favourite place to sit. The only seats available in fact as even though no one else in the bar was sitting down, they had festooned all available sitting surfaces with their bags and accessories. We only stayed out for one drink, as we had unexpectedly ended up drinking both the night before and the night before that so the visit was brief but enjoyable.
I don’t know if this will make it into my repertoire of regular drinking establishments, but it is very close to XOYO so good to bear in mind for drinks beforehand if I’m going there. And of course, they have clubnights themselves which I plan to try out some time as well.
I played pool, here, with 2 others. It was my first time visiting this venue and I was Pleasantly surprised!!!!!
We took an uber from Hackney Central - the journey was short. On the way home, we used public transport - there is a train station nearby.
Both of the above points were very important to me!
We paid for an hour of pool. I would usually be upset about the price this place charges, BUT the decor, location, quality of the pool tables/ pool rooms, and staff made it easy for me to hand over my money!
This is a chic/ classy establishment. It's perfect for playing pool/ having drinks/ grabbing a quick and relaxed bite to eat (there arent really designated areas to eat...but you will manage).
The nightclub space is excellent and the service in the club is brilliant!
I would give this place full marks...but there was only one thing that deducted a point: I was unable to communicate with anyone via phone/ email to advise I was running late and wanted to change my booking... Also, there was no acknowledgement that one of us was celebrating our birthday.
If you want communication staff to handle the weekend queries, I'm very happy to submit my CV and be considered for the role. 😊
I love this venue. I'll be back!!
Went here for an event, nicely decorated but couldn’t tell you what the venue is like in its own right as a bar/club.
Although, it looks like on a normal night this place could have quite a good vibe.
What an incredible evening. Great venue. The service was top quality. Special shout out to Slavic, he made the evening a night to remember. Great customer service. Vegan salad was very tasty.
Monday night live unsigned musicians. Sessions58 Rise - check it out! It's a must see.
The area is nicely decorated. Not too many places to sit at, just a few low tables and sofas like at the hotel's lobby and only few bar chairs. Will be hard to find a sit, even if the place is half full. The place is clean, with good atmosphere, nice selection of alcohol and the stuff are friendly. Prices are bit expensive.
Enjoy :)
Was quite early when we went so we were only persons there and atmosphere was not really buzzing, as we left around 6pm more people were arriving so could be better later. There are more pool tables in back so don't be put off if all tables at front are occupied. Drink prices were pretty normal for London can't remember price for pool table but it was per hour and was more expensive after 5pm I believe.
Another great night out at Q. Fantastic quality pool tables in a great environment with top service from friendly staff. People even had the chance to play the legend Jimmy White at a special event
Went with a few colleagues after work for some Pool - and an absolutely sensational venue to play in. We were greeted by friendly staff and taken to a basement area with loads of pool tables and a great ambience overall. First time that I've been to a venue this good - the place downstairs looked like something from the future.
Fantastic venue to grab a drink and play pool with decent hour rates and other local areas. I've attached photos so you can see just how amazing this place (even those don't do justice!). Looking forward to going back there again in future. Recommend!
Nice place off the main strip. Well presented and a great club downstairs. Door men were very respectful and the bar upstairs had a cosy sociable vibe. Will defo there again. A nice spot.
A Groupon find. Very attentive staff, great food, great selection of drinks. Cozy atmosphere and if you love Steve Mcqueen.. Then this place is a treat. They even show his films on a TV in The Grill!
Gorgeous decor at this bar, attended RnB Brunch and had a sensational time!! Customer Service was very good. Would return to this place. Loved it. Drinks are London prices.
It is very hard to tell from outside, BUT I repeat BUT!! This venue is like a hidden gem in shoreditch/ Old Street.
Start with a tight security control👌Floors are divided into sections. You have the bar area as you come in, walk through on the left straight into a pool room. Great ambience, good food, and amazing customer service
If you are feeling jiggy with it, too. You come to the right place. The club is down at the basement next to the cloakroom and toilets (5* for hygiene/ toilet cleanliness).
NB. Your pool session don't garauntee you a club spot. You are ushered out through a different exit. You might need to pre book? for the club part or exit and go join the club queue.
Instagram fans. A must take picture by McQueens billboard is a must.
All in all. This place is designed for friends to come vibe socially tailored ways.
Kudos!
We had brunch at this fancy restaurant and really pleased with the experience. The decor is beautifull, you can see the details in almost every thing. Eggs royal and sweet potato fries were a perfect choice ! 😇
Great place to come. Good pool tables, great food and lovely drinks. They always have security so there is never any trouble.
In the other rooms there are poker etc and downstairs their is another club.
However usually you need to book in advance.
Charming place for a relaxing Tuesday evening. It's kind of well located and hide at the same time, I don't know how spareroom found it. Anyway, I flatmated here and it was kind of cool. Great music and I am looking forward to try the cocktails.
If u want to dance and have a great time with your friends, this is the place, the restaurant is near to the dance floor but is nice and private, nicely decoratwd with pictures of this great legend Steve McQueen, I love it!
