Fantastic restaurant in the front of the Royal Festival Hall with great views across the river. Went for a family birthday on Sunday Lunchtime.
A good set price menu with some nice egg starters which work well for a brunch. Worked well with a steak main 😁
There is a bottomless Prosecco or Bordeaux option that is good value if you want to drink more than the odd glass - otherwise the options are fairly expensive .
We had superb service and well worth the money 👍
Visited here recently for bottomless brunch, versus other places the food was really good, restaurant style and you felt very filled. The service associated with the bottomless drinks was amazing, never an empty glass. Restaurant felt posh, tables were private and good views of the River Thames.
We went for the gin tasting experience with lunch and had an amazing time. Sunshine, view over the river.. Food and service were excellent. Gin experience was brilliant (more than we could manage and drinks could have been smaller), a real treat and well delivered by the barman. We left very happy! Highly recommended
One of my favourite restaurants in London, I had to take my friend there for her birthday. They kindly saved a window seat for us so we could oggle the views. The service is always great here. Might be a little slow when busy but friendly and happy to assist if you ask. The food is always exemplary and the cocktails are out of this world.
Skylon is one of those places you've walked past several times without noticing it until you actually go there.
Located inside the south bank centre, there are several way to the restaurant. They have their own dedicated side entrance or you could enter it via the centre.
The food might look boring but they were very tasty and delicouse, and I didn't expect that the basic chicken thighs would actually be good.
The venue has this long ceiling which tends to the noise. So it gets noises the more you drink.
I was a bit late to the brunch but when I got there, there were no menu so when I ordered a Coke, I assume it would be the normal (ish) price not £5 per bottle, and they were the I'm a ones.
The staff were great and proactive, and since I was late i was not sure if my friend ordered for me so I ordered my food. Then one of the staff came to me and said that my friend already ordered and that he cancelled the one I just did.
Except for the price of the coke, I had a great time at the restaurant.
Lovely location, great views and good food! The staff were good and attentive. Food was well presented and of great quality. The main selling point of this restaurant is the location overlooking the Thames and if you manage to get a sunset booking its quite romantic! The decor is fantastic and of its era. A huge selection of wines on offer so there's something for everyone. Clientele ranged from families to small groups of friends to dates, very accommodating atmosphere!
The views are nice, but its big and noisy and therefore you won't get enough attention from the staff.. Food was good, however portions are quite small (understandable when it is a set menu). Overall good experience, but not a place that I'd choose to go back to. Note: it is a bit difficult to find it if you're going to use GPS.. It also doesn't have any obvious sign that shows you where it is, the sign is too small and you have to have great attention to be able to spot it.
Recently visited here with my wife for the gin making and tasting experience. On arrival we were greeted kindly and went straight into tasting a selection of different gins. This was good and informative and the staff were great.
Once seated we were directed to the set menu which was fine as we were aware of this. We had chosen our starters and mains and gave these to our female waitress. We both wanted the ravioli main course. It wasn't until we ordered they said they had run out of this dish. The set menu is quite small so this did make it harder to choose an alternative. However we would have appreciated being told when we were sat down that it was not available on the menu. Instead We spent around 10 minutes choosing items off the menu to find out they were not available. They are also using fans due to the AC not working which is far from ideal given the current temperatures!
Other than this the experience was good and would have been 5 star review.
Views overlooking the Thames and the South Bank but that’s not all. Food at Skylon is very good. Service is also friendly and efficient. Worth a visit for comfort food.
I do however, agree with the comment that It has a kind of a weird vibe. Doesn't feel quite as classy as the pictures make it look. Maybe because the indoor space is so large it has a sort of convention center feel. Lots of potential due to the quality of the food, but the atmosphere could use a bit of freshening up.
Good customer service. Very accommodating. Food is just okay. Atmosphere is okay overlooking the water. Nice cocktails. Would definitely return for a happy hour
My partner and I got a wine tasting here for her 30th birthday. It’s was great, we had a really knowledgeable server named Luca, his wine knowledge was excellent and the portions were very generous, we had an amazing selection of cheeses and they even surprised my partner with a desert cake for her belated birthday, top class. A big thank you to Luca he made the evening!
Incredible dinner at Skylon from start to finish. They accommodated our late booking we were looking for a relaxed setting with views and great food and our expectations were exceeded by miles! The food was to die for (they were out of oysters but the other starter options were gorgeous). We got the burger which was textbook perfect - delicious and the duck that was outstanding. Gorgeous and good sized portions. They knew about our special occasions and they brought our desserts out with candles! Service was perfect and our experience was made even better by Mihela an absolute star. We'll be back!
