I had one of the best dinners ever here! It was cute and cosy inside and the food was rustic and delicious! No airs and graces here. Great vibes and the best food. Planning my next visit already :) yum yum
Wonderful place of vegetarian / vegan delights that felt just like hippppy mama's homecooking soon as i stepped in the door... funky quirky interior with the relaxed vibe of a berlin squat or somethingks... (-: very recommended... rotating chefs (weekly, not on the floor where they stand) ... thus ends the foodie ramblingks... bon appetite! x morganico
Superb veggie/vegan BYO eatery in a lovely location with a real community vibe /buzz. It's just a five-min walk from Vauxhall tube/train station. The food is always incredibly tasty & excellent value for money for lunch or dinner (usually £3 for a starter, £8 for a main & £3 for a dessert. They also only charge a very small amount for corkage). There's even little courtyard area with tables too. This is, without a doubt, one of my favourite restaurants in London. Visit once & you'll be hooked. Fab!
Visited the Bonnington today for lunch with a friend, it was great tasty food. I had a veggie burger which was so filling and tasty, it was no.1 for me. We had apple/rhubarb crumble which was so light it melted in the mouth, after titilating the tongue. We shall definitely return. The chef was so sweet and obliging it was heaven eating there
a wonderful vegetarian cafe that changes it's chef daily. you can go online to see who will be cooking and text the chef to make a reservation. the food was absolutely lovely and very reasonably priced. we had fresh watermelon juices, curries, and veggie bowls. the decor is homely and outside seating out the back. would definitely go again.
Fabulous and sooo tasty. Best meal I've eaten for ages
I'm in love with the food, the neighborhood, the gardens, the cultural and social value of this warm place.
Thanks for doing that.
See you soon ;)
Great food, great people AND amazing prices!great place
Fabulous venue. Unpretentious, delicious, friendly, green, no food waste, healthy. Ethical. Affordable and benefitting the community.
What on earth is there not to love?
Just had lunch there.
amazing - best lunch ever!
will definitely be going back, again, again and again!
Really pleasantly surprised, was impressed by the food which was super tasty, we had a vegetable coconut curry and spicy bean tacos, lovely atmosphere and excellent food!
A real oasis in London. Tasty food sweet staff excellent location. We loved it.
A little something different. If you love the community bohemian feel and dig authentic vegan food - this is the spot for you. Book in advance as this place is very popular!
This place was recommended to me by a friend! I would definitely visit you again! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is great!
A great place for fine vegan fare. Independent, individual and thank goodness it still exists. An oasis of calm in an ever changing London landscape.
Great food, service and value for money. Desert was awesome!
Cooperation is a Good Thing. On the site of a former squat, the Bonnington Cafe is one of the most unique arrangements for a restaurant I can imagine. There is no chef, rather a rota of 'member cooks' who run the restaurant as their own on the various nights they are responsible for. This means you book directly with the chef (on their mobile, the restaurant has no phone number). As a result the cuisine can vary wildly in style from night to night, everything from Japanese to Italian has featured at one time, but quality is remarkably consistent.
All the food is vegetarian and there is little or no choice; my last visit saw one starter, one main & two desserts. Service is relaxed & friendly, the furniture, like the cutlery is mismatched. In many ways it is more like eating in someone's front room than a restaurant, but I enjoy it all the more for that. Now the kicker; the price. Starters & desserts £3, mains £7. For the quality of produce on display, never mind the general cooking skill, these are extraordinary prices.
All in all, Bonnington Cafe really is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're going to get, but you'll probably like it.
For a couple of reasons, the validity of which I'll leave it to you to judge, I don't have a very great deal to say about the food at Bonnington Cafe. First of all there doesn't seem much point, as the menu at this moderately famous, co-operative-run vege
Situated on a residential road about 5 mins away from Vauxhall station, this is a real hidden gem. Packed full even on weekdays, it's clear that they have a winning combination of delicious and cheap food, cosy atmosphere (there was live music when I went) and the BYOB also helps.
They have a daily changing roster of chefs which keeps the food interesting as there is usually just 2-3 choices each for starter and main. I had a beetroot soup and a cottage pie with salads. Both were amazing, the seasoning was spot on and really brought out the flavours of the vegetables. I didn't miss not having meat at all.
I'll be sure to come back again soon.
I visit this cafe regularly for lunch. It is a small and cozy cafe with decent and homely interiors. The cafe has new chief everyday serving delicious and fresh vegan meals.
It is difficult to recommend dish in particular as menu changes everyday and i have loved every single dish.
It is the most economical place and serves the tastiest food with warmth and love.
I recommend this cafe and you will definitely end up being a regular visitor here.
Great place - interesting concept, excellent prices, cool decor and you bring your own wine. Quality of food varies a lot though depending on the cook but definitely worth a visit.
My first meal in London was at this cozy cafe. It was a vegan Monday so everything on the menu is vegan, yet they did not compromise the taste at all. Enjoy the soup a lot. The vegan quiche is another highlight. I could never thought of using tofu to replace egg in a quiche and can hardly tell the difference. Friendly people. Love it <3
One of Vauxhall’s cutest little secrets. Lovely spot for a coffee and catch-up with a friend :) Very quiet area too, so good for kids and dogs.
Popped by for a late lunch & very glad we did. Delicious food (no salmon en croute & aubergine chermoula) cooked & served by Suzana was exactly what we needed. Enjoyed the Bakewell tart as soon as we arrived home! Been too long since I was last here. Always great value, lovingly prepared meals

I really loved the food. I had tofu steaks and they were a great example of a veganised pub classic.
I advise reserving; I managed to slip in, but almost all the tables were booked for either 6:30 or 8:30, or both. You can book parties in here, of up to about 8 people, I'd say (I'm not sure any more tables will fit side by side in the small room).
It's a cute place, with a deli selling alcohol across the road (and fresh veg, interestingly, plus all manner of other odd bits), and a community garden space with swings nearby.
The centre itself does a number of events for cheap from yoga to piano lessons. It's a great little corner of town. The cafe has leaflets for all manner of intriguing London events you might not otherwise have heard of. Makes for interesting reading.
This cafe is attached to a community centre, so there are certain differences to a regular establishment:
-The menu changes day by day. To know what's on offer, you have to go to the website, find the contact details of the chef on rota for the night, and ask them. Or, show up and take your chances. I did and I'm not disappointed.
-They are short staffed. Only one waiter, rushed off her feet. The food came quickly but it took a while to settle up. To be honest, if I'd had exact change, I would have just put it on the table and left, since I had another engagement I was late for. Best to go when you're not doing anything else, then you can just relax and it doesn't matter.
-There's no bill or receipt. They don't take cards. A main is about £8. I'd advise exact change or just enough that the remainder is an acceptable surplus.
-The toilet is up three flights of stairs, past what looks like someone's abandoned living room.
-There's a definite community atmosphere, some of the people there were clearly either regulars or friends.
The ambiance and atmosphere of the cafe and the surrounding area really makes for a special time here. We went on a Sunday evening with chef Anya in the house. The food was absolutely amazing - this coming from newbies to the whole raw/vegan diet and experience. Chef and her assistant were really friendly and very kind - I left my bag in the restaurant because I was so taken by the raw chocolate and peanut brownie - they called me and waited for me to collect it.
If you are looking for a place with character and feel good vibes this is the place. Real soul food here!!!
Thank you Anya for a wonderful meal :) we will be back soon!
I've been wanting to go to the Bonnington café for so long now, but hadn't until last night. I have to say it lived up to if not surpassed everything I heard about it. Its casual and laid back so you feel like you're not in London. It'd situated on a back street nestled in a residential road that has a lovely atmosphere. The menu and chef changes everyday and booking seems to be essential (usually it's busy) so we texted as the website suggested. Now... The food. We both ordered the tofu dish (sesame tofu and teriyaki aubergine) which was incredible but wished we'd ordered one of each dish as we saw the squash roast and it looked delicious! For dessert we had one of each (learnt our lesson) and oh boy... 😍 just everything about this place... Oh and its BYOB.
Been there four or five times with different chefs - always been very tasty. Book by text, don't just turn up as it's always busy. I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but have never been disappointed by a meal here. Good value- three courses for two - £32. It's byob with a 50p charge.
Love the food, the place and the concept of the restaurant. Food is absolutely delicious and never boring. The interior is relaxing and cosy. The concept centers around the community. Would definitely come back.
Excellent food for the money. Today was a vegan day and although This was my first vegan experience, it was thoroughly tasty. Plus great value for London. My dish was Red Dragon pie which was basically like a red vegetarian Shepard’s pie with sweet potato, beetroot, nuts and some other healthy stuff that I have no idea about!
What a lovely place. Misiek was the chef today and prepared such a tasty and satisfying vegan quesadilla with jackfruit chili salsa, grilled potatoes and salads. You made my day, thank you!
This is an amazing place. The menu changes daily and depending on the chef. The food was delicious. I very much liked it and will be going back.
Very cosy spot 5 minutes walk from Vauxhall underground. Good food choices all vegan or vegetarian! Price is fair considering the good quality of the food. Gonna go back.
First thing to highlight: it’s reopened!
(Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-2 at the moment I believe)
But contrary to the last poster I really enjoyed it. It was friendly, lovely quality veggie and vegan foods (brunch options)
I could have done with a slightly larger portion, but thoroughly enjoyed!
Reading about their issues over the past year great to see it up and running again and will be going back!
Excellent value for money, friendly staff, what's not to like...... Other than meat
I don't got to many places twice but this is becoming a regular. Such a cosy atmosphere and love being able to bring our own wine to dinner. We've only been so far as a couple, but there are mostly groups of friends there. The food is always delicious and I always find something we haven't had before. Texting to book makes it feel a bit special and the chef replied when I asked her what one of the sides was because it was so yummy! Will be back again soon.
This quaint neighbourhood café and community hub on a quiet residential street in Vauxhall, has an interesting cooperative evening dining concept, with different cooks on different nights.
Our evening was (almost?) wholly vegan; the mains and desserts were a highlight and were so tasty. This BYOB with its fresh and innovative food is exceptionally good value. Highly recommended.
Very local and comfort food:) Vegan- friendly and good decoration
Amazing healthy food, nice atmosphere and good price. I need to come back!
What a great place: select but fantastic menus unique to each chef. Lovely service, terrific place. Hard to better
