Had to wait 10 minutes, when I got it there were loads of empty seats - i guess it’s a crowd control thing, can’t imagine coming here on a weekend. Went for their set meal and it was superb. I went off the popular bao, got the braised beef and it was the best decision. Make sure to have this meal with their spicy sauce as it adds a kick. Taiwanese chicken was crunchy and does not disappoint.

The food was quite good, and the service is very friendly and helpful. I wanted the 40 Day Aged Beef, Taipei Butter Rice, but they were having problems with their grill so it was unfortunately not on offer. The Fried Chicken BAO has a nice textural contrast between the soft and spongy bread and the crispy chicken. Spicy mayo and kimchi balanced out the fried chicken well. The Cold Smoked Aubergine had a nice flavor, and again with the textures, the Panko BAO had a nice crispy exterior and super soft interior. And cold aubergine with hot bao, all about that contrast! It was a little difficult to scoop the aubergine onto the bao on its own, so I used chopsticks to pick the eggplants up and place them on the bao instead. The Prawn Shia Song BAO was fine -- I'd say weakest of the bunch. It's set up like a lobster roll. The roll itself is seemingly deep fried and doughnut like. The prawns are cooked all the way through, meaning they're on the tougher side. Pieces of the filling (shrimp and some bits of vegetables) fell out as I ate it because the roll is a little stiff, so every bite would result in all the shrimp filling getting squeezed out. The overall flavor was decent, but also not particularly memorable. I must admit that the food is not cheap given the amount of food you get, but I also can't judge the value proposition for you. I can only say that I did enjoy the food.

If you love tapas style of dining then you should give this a go. A menu with many small dishes that have helpful labels for vegeteraian, vegan and length of time to cook. I enjoyed the fried chicken and classic bao. If you want something different try the cold smoked aubergine, fried sesame bao. Very different textures with a deep fried sesame bao and heavily smoked aubergine. All 3 of us enjoyed this unique dish. They have an interesting selection of drinks and I wanted to try more but I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol. Lastly, we had an amazing staff member serve us. She was friendly, polite and helped us with menu reccomendations and how many dishes per person we should order. Would love to come back again and try other dishes.

We loved the food in Bao! It was just amazing! My recommendation… Go for the Baos! Specially the classic one and the prawn! They are really rich in flavour! Staff was really friendly too! We sat in the counter and were able to see the chefs doing their magic!

Cute little place in borough market. Great food, pretty spicy. The service is quick and friendly, with a quite unique ordering system. We began with the noodle crisps which were nice, salty and spicy. Followed by cabbage (spicy-ish) and the curry cheese bao and beef bao. Both bao’s were amazing!! Definitely was not expecting it to be so insane. The baos were so fluffy, never had any like this. The aubergine dish was a highlight and definitely recommend, so tasty and unique. Then we were still hungry so also ordered the bao special: prawn bao. A nice mix of sweet and salty, very yummy. And we also ordered the tofu dish, which was ok. Overall I recommend and can’t wait to visit the other branches. I forgot to get my code for the app off the receipt though 😭

I had a great time eating for the first time in BAO. Food was exquisite, service was 5 stars and in general the experience was worth the money. Special shout to the lady who served us today as she was on spot with the recomendations. The shrimp BAO was the best, then the chicken followed and the classic was third.

Had such a lovely time at Bao today! Food was insane, definitely worth the money! I was sat up on the bar and was talking to the chef whose name was Matt, he recommended the dishes we ate. He was super friendly and had amazing knowledge on the dishes☺️ Would definitely recommend this place who wants to venture out and try something different

Love Bao! Their buns are always very flavorful and consistently good. My favourites are the classic, beef and chicken. Would recommend booking a table as it can get very busy. But their window at lunchtime is a great alternative to get a bun on the go!

There weren't any tables available when we arrived but a staff member took our mobile number and sent us a text once a table had become available. We had the 40 Day Aged Beef Taipei Butter Rice dish, which was delicious and a few different Bao. Food was very tasty.

I began my birthday celebrations at BAO Borough yesterday with my friend. Although it was a bit tricky to book a table in advance (the booking system was playing up when I tried), I had a wonderful experience overall. I did email them and they have a table ready for me upon arrival. The food was delicious! 8-9 dishes was certainly enough for us. My friend is a vegetarian and she really enjoyed the cabbage, the smoked aubergine and the mushroom rice. I particularly liked the ox heart skewer - I don’t think I’ve ever had anything like it, so tasty! The spicy margaritas also went down extremely well! The Horlicks ice cream and signed birthday card was a very special touch at the end :) I’m definitely coming back and couldn’t recommend this place enough!
