A wonderful experience for the taste buds and the staff is lovely!
The eclectic decor is part of the charm, and is the reminder of the many influences of the cuisine: Middle east, African and British.
We had mainly small plates and the grilled aubergine with rice (totally recommend!) as a big one + dessert.
My favorite dish was the Burrata salad: fresh and delicious (burrata, endives, figs, walnuts, fresh cranberries and pomegranate)
The trout was very good. The portion was really tiny on that one though...
The chickpea chips were interesting and the portion was good, same with the crispy crushed potatoes.
I'm not a fan of Scotch eggs but we thought that, in such a place, it could only be good. And it was moist and flavorful.
The Banaa cake was soooo good! But if I was to have it again it would be without the sea of salted caramel it was served in: way too sugary and almost overwhelming the taste of the cake. Which also had a scoop of salted caramel ice-cream. I think the cake with the topping is enough.
Just remember it's on the pricey side (given the location, I assume the walls aren't cheap) and you'll be fine.
We interacted with different members of the staff and they were all super helpful and professional. We stayed until the last minute (hence the empty room shots haha) and no one made us feel like we were overstaying our welcome. Very gracious.
thoroughly enjoyed the food at Jikoni's. It's innovative, punchy and exciting. With a mix of flavours from around the world, you're savouring every spoonful. Would recommend this place for sure. We sat outside, because all tables were booked indoors. So early booking is a must if you want to enjoy sitting inside. But if weather's good then outside is great. We were a bit nippy, but they have heaters and blankets on stand-by. Attentive staff and good service.
Really interesting menu lots of combination of different cuisines and flavours in indivual dishes and across the menu.
Very tasty for brunch and great service had a slight mishap but they made up for it with an extra side.
The prawn toast scotch egg particularly good with the banana ketchup and pickle, and Achari Mary (bloody Mary with lime pickle) worked surprisingly well as a more refreshing Bloody Mary riff.
Fabulous place!! I was SO impressed by this little gem of a restaurant. Food was gorgeous! My quail was amazing and my Aunts mussels were superb. Great cocktails and I got a bit of their banana loaf with a candle in it for my birthday. So sweet 🥰 Would thoroughly recommend and I can't wait to go back.
We absolutely loved the food, wine and atmosphere ( we were outside on a balmy London evening) .. - thank you to our waiter who we let choose our dishes and who did so brilliantly so that we had a wide variety of thé menu offerings. Thé innovative use/pairing of often unusual ingredients is really a knock-out when done like this. It has been our stand-out meal so far in the UK and we’ve been eating out for 2.5 weeks! Don’t change anything is our firm wish.
Excellent asian restaurant for a modern take on some classic Indian / African flavours. Chef was born in Kenya with Indian heritage and showcases an incredible fusion of flavours and influences at the highest level. Aloo Chat was mindblowing. And the kenyan chicken curry is a blast. Really recommended if you are around Marylebone area. Excellent service.
The best lunch I think I have ever had… amazing flavours, like nothing our group had had before. Cherritni, chaat and pudding were highlights. And the sticky aubergine ❤️
Great place ! Was so good to try something a bit different. Staff were great and really enthusiastic about their offerings. The Hake curry was my fave dish and if you like something sweet, the banana cake was very yum !
Recently visited London, we patronized a number of restaurants but Jikoni stood out. The food is comforting, well executed and healing. The crispy aubergine is the best aubergine I've ever had... never knew it could have such a crunch! The restaurant honors all diets but really shines with it's plant based cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and a calm reprieve from a bustling city. The staff is welcoming and personable. We ended up going back for dinner to complete our trip.
Lots of veggie options. I had the corn pancakes with scrambled eggs. Very filling. The atmosphere is homey, service is polite and food is yummy.
Such a tantalising and eclectic melange of Asian, Indian and Kenyan flavors combined to form a unique experience. Loved the Kenyan chai with paan madelines baked a la minute, lemon rice with tiger prawns and coconut chutney, and scotch eggs. Definitely be back to try their other items like pancakes and the dinner menu.
Amazing food, service & ambience at Jikoni! The cocktails & food were delish. Scotch eggs with banana chutney, croquetas & caramelised aubergine with rice are a must! It'd just be wrong to miss the banana toffee pudding.
This place is incredible, from the moment I called to inquire about booking, to the meal we had. The whole experience was positive. The team were so accommodating, the food was delicious and unique. It's been on my wish list of places to visit for a while and exceeded all me expectations.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful this restaurant is the service, the food. I saw it on Saturday Kitchen and I thought that recipe looks good. My partner kindly humoured me and we went on Saturday. We were greeted as soon as we walked in shown to our table asked if we had been there before, I explained about see Saturday Kitchen. We chatted and asked for recommendations, he went over the menu and explained everything. The food was fresh and flavourful. Several staff stopped by our table to check on us, everyone was friendly and conscientious of the customers needs. They knew the menu well. I think whatever you select from the menu will be good, but I highly suggest you try the banana cake. That was the best desert that we can ever recall having. We will definitely be back.
Went for the brunch menu on a weekend. It was superb! All the dishes were excellent and then topped off with some pinacolada pancakes for dessert.
Really recommend this place
This is my first stop every visit to London. Divinely seasoned, gorgeously curated flavours. Warm, generous service. Taste, skill, imagination, joie de vivre and unpretentious, lush presentation. A pioneer combining excellence, integrity, whimsy and flavour. This maverick freedom of sensibility & imagination that can inspire all.
Great food here, stopped in for lunch towards the end of the service but was still treated exceptionally well. Wonderful value proposition (£28 for 2 courses, £32 for 3 courses).
Seems to have won quite a few accolades over the time it’s been open and I’d agree it’s certainly worth it, highly creative food, good vegan options, attentive and skilled waitstaff.
Great interior which really does make one feel quite at ease. Hope to be back again sometime soon!
Food was great, service was very good too and the ambience is lovely. The cocktails were delicious, small plates are fine. When you add everything up overall, It’s quite overpriced for what you get. £24 seems steep for a vegetarian dish that consisted of a few pieces of fried aubergine on plain rice, as tasty as it might be. It was cool to check out this place once but probably will not be going back again.
Lovely, intimate space with considered decorations throughout. I especially loved the black and white photo of the chef and her grandfather.
We visited for Father's Day and were delighted by the complimentary bottle of Toast.
The ambience was relaxed, which was lovely, and was also reflected in the time it took to take our orders and prepare our dishes.
The food was well worth the wait. We all tried each other's choices and were impressed with them all. The flavours were inspired and the quality exceptional.
The waiters and waitress were also excellent.
