I was super happy with my time spent on the grass courts at Coolhurst. I took a flight from the U.S. and spent my birthday in London. I emailed the club and they set me up with a grass court session with Ignacio. He was a great dude and fun to hit with. It was awesome hitting off of grass for the first time ever.
One of the best clubs in north London London atleast. Great quality tennis courts, with artificial clat, tiger turf and hard courts recently laid. Very friendly atmosphere inspite of being a big club . Squash,Gym and padel tennis all available plus many more facilities
This is a Club for use by members, though anyone can apply to join. A unique tennis and squash facility with a lively bar.
Great club and well managed, joined at the beginning of 2021, very good pool of high level players so very good competition, good diversity of courts + bubble during the winter helps a lot. Bar also is a great. Great place for the neighbourhood!
Great Clubhouse/Bar/Cafe and Services. The sports facilities are ample and the playing standard, very broad. There are really good osteo and physio practictioners based there as well as studio classes of all sorts. They also have a shop-based master stringing company on-site.
A few of the courts (both squash and tennis) are not in as high a standard as the rest of the features of the club. The courts that do play well, are top-notch.
The friendliest club I've ever played at! A total of 7 squash courts, so you can almost always book one on the evening you want. It has 14 tennis courts as well, although I don't play tennis, and a brand new gym which is really well equipped with plenty of lessons and sessions you can join in on.
The clubhouse has a fully stocked proper bar, which sells alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, hot / cold food and a good range of sporting equipment, such as squash balls, racket grips, etc.
Squash club sessions are Wednesday evening from 19:50 and Sunday afternoons, but I don't remember the time. It's quite normal to see new people turn up to these sessions and have a game to try out the club. I'd definitely recommend coming along to one if you would like to see for yourself what it's like here.
Lovely old school English club with friendly atmosphere, good courts, some excellent teachers. Good for children unlike the Cumberland in Hampstead which has become very stuffy and inaccessible. We make the journey here because it's so good. They also have squash here which is at a high standard. The food at the bar is quite good.
I can't speak for tennis, but this is probably the best all-round squash club in London. 7 courts in good condition, a very active club night (Weds from 19:50 - all welcome, it's £5 for non-members and £3 for members) and a large and active league system. To boot the bar is busy enough and great value!
I've been a tennis member of Coolhurst for 8 or 9 years and continue to be a member even though I moved away from Crouch End. The courts situation has much improved since the installation of the amazing artificial clay courts. I've found everyone very friendly and welcoming, especially Sarah who manages the club and Ray who manages the facilities and the great bar. I especially enjoy playing in one of the men's teams which is very socialable, the drills on Saturday mornings with coach Craig, and the very well organised and competitive ladder. Looking forward to the coming improvements to the the astro court floodlights and all weather courts instead of the grass to give us even more room to play. Keep up the good work guys!
Great local squash and tennis club. Went to watch some squash on the Premier Squash League (PSL). I've been to the club three times now to watch matches and each time they are always improving their approach to hosting these events. Tickets are easily available on their website and the quality of the squash matches is top class.
