Unexpectedly exceptional! We called ahead and even though it was late a table was held for us. Jono was a delight and accommodating in our questions and banter. And the kitchen completely delivered on their varied and delicious menu. If you just come for a nibble at least get the truffle parmesan fries. Ps - cocktails were on point!

The Hillgate is a lovely and lively place. Slightly hidden but still may be quite busy. Great food and nice selection of drinks. Excellent service.

Had my wife's surprise birthday there and it was perfect. Everyone who worked there was super helpful especially with allowing us to bring our own cake and also bring it out for us. Also child friendly

Sunday Roasts, pork, lamb and vegetarian pie were all very good, good potatoes and vegetables nicely done - not overcooked, Yorkshire pudding a little over done. Sticky toffee pudding very tasty. Fish and chips however was not great. Service was very good, friendly efficient and nice environment. Would go again and not order fish and chips.

We took the private room for a birthday. The food was delicious and the staff were really attentive! They even found a tv for us to watch the rugby on. Great evening thank you!

If you fancy a pint in Notting Hill, you could do yourself a favour and visit the Hillgate. A simple airy backstreet pub in the heart of the village. Close to the underground, Mr Google knows where it is! Fine beers and very family friendly. The staff are a good team and serve you well. A good place for a beer.

The food here is really above average even for a gastropub, I do wish they would bring back their scotch eggs though! In the meantime the sticky chicken thighs are truly sublime. The staff are always warm and welcoming and it’s on a nicely tucked away corner in a cheerful neighbourhood street just a stones throw from the hustle and bustle of Notting Hill.

Over a nice pub. Food is decent tasting but is pretty pricy for what it is. Ordered hamburger and asked them to hold the bun and it was pretty sad and pathetic on the plate. Kinda a small burger for the cost. Sunday roast were better portions. Watermelon tomato salad, barely had any watermelon…

The place is lovely especially on a sunny day! The service is friendly and the food very good. Stop there to avoid the crowd of Notting Hill and Portobello road on the weekend!

Great location, great food and drinks, and at reasonable prices too, although our starter came with our main courses. Very echoey inside so difficult to hold a conversation with more than one person without shouting (which makes it even louder). However, I think this was due more to lack of staff at the time, so overall I would go back again as it was good value and a good atmosphere

Great pub with a nice atmosphere. Outside standing area is a bit small and naturally spills onto the road which means constantly being ushered onto the pavement. Not the bars fault, just annoying

Very nice. Been before as live not far away. Good value but we only had 2 main courses and a beer and a spritza. My hake was delicious and hamburger good, all quite filling. We will come again.
