Why Waste Annual Leave?
+3.5
My 3rd or 4th visit to this local Thai restaurant but the first in several years and I must say that whilst I had mixed feelings on the flavour of the food the first couple of visits, I must say, I was pleasantly corrected on this most recent visit. The service has always been friendly, welcoming and helpful and the interiors are a little in need of a touch up, but then this is not a restaurant you go to for fancy interiors or fine dining. This is about hearty, homemade Thai food that's comforting, filling and satisfying.
Aside from the range of expected features on the menu such as green and red curries and Pad Thai, they also have a list of specials and I was glad to have chosen from the specials this time with a Thai version of a sweet and sour dish, coming with a choice of different meats, fish or prawn as well as a range of vegetables and pineapple. I opted for prawn and they make a point of mentioning on the menu that the Thai sweet and sour dishes are quite different to Chinese style sweet and sour. And different it is. I'm not normally a fan of sweet and sour in Chinese dishes but I did enjoy the sweetness of it, particularly after we'd finished the savoury prawn crackers quicker than the speed of light after a very long working week.
Husband ordered two small starters instead, including friend spring rolls and fish cakes. The fish cakes were tender, well seasoned and worked well with the dipping sauce they came with and he spoke highly of the spring rolls.
There aren't many options for Thai food in this area but this restaurant has been around for years and when I revisited this time, I could see why. It's reliable, simple but well-made Thai food and I would happily return next time I'm in need of an easy, fuss-free, hearty Thai meal.
Great soups, delicious seafood salad (small but perfectly formed) but the Pad Thai was a bit cloying. Nice place for lunch.
Great Thai restaurant. Good authentic food. Unpretentious restaurant
Good Thai food - just avoid the deep fried starters
Can't sing the praises of this little gem enough. Food is great. Go for the ribs for starters. You can't go wrong. In fact I've never had a bad meal here. The place has been there since long before I lived in the area (which is over 10years) and always good. Staff serving have a lovely manor.
A staple Blackheath favourite. One that we return to again and again.
If you want atmosphere, go somewhere else. If you want great food, this is the place for you.
Serves the best Thai food in the area, but Lacraim is a funny little restaurant. It's interior is incredibly dated, a bit like an old travel agent's office and the carpet underfoot always feels as though it needs a good shampoo.
Tucked in behind Blackheath high street near the post office it's in a quiet spot, but always has plenty of people in it. In terms of price, it's higher than the average Thai joint, although not extortionate.
The starters are authentically good (particularly the stuffed chicken wings) and the staples of Thai cuisine: green curries, red curries, massamans are all recommended.
Only doing takeaways currently. Shame 'cos the food and atmosphere are great (I've dined in, in better times). By takeaway standards, their food is magnificent, it's just the presentation at home doesn't match theirs. I'm happy with that while I wait for them to reopen for dine-in.
Great food and with 50% off this month, means it taste all that much sweeter
Great value Thai. Often busy in the restaurant and the take away is popular too. An mix of standard British furniture and Thai decoration make for an interesting ambience but who cares?! Food is usually pretty good and the staff work hard. Also good for groups.
Have ordered food on-line a couple of times. Food has been really good. I ordered tonight on line and totally messed up the order. I had to call them to sort it. They couldn’t have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, really appreciated it and will make sure i add a top next time.
Haven't been here for a number of years. The food was really nice but appeared to be less spicy than we would usually expect from Thai food. Seems like they have toned it down.
Offering a takeaway service so really handy to order on the train and pick up as just across the road from the station. Food was all delicious!
well I loved the place. nice atmosphere here on Tuesday. only 2 takeaways in one and a half hours. lovely food. generous portions.and great wine. no complaints.
Outstanding! The best Thai food we have found in London!
Visited laicram last night on vacation from Australia and as frequent visitor to Thailand found this restaurant by accident . Food well structured in Thai style.suggest duck curry excellent.service friendly, overall would visit again if time let's me
Lovely food in an unrushed atmosphere. I really like this place, good quality food with great friendly service. Can't go wrong with the Thai food if you are a fan.
Great take away, good dining in. I feel it got better in the past year.
Quality and consistency is actually very good now a day.
Service is very friendly and welcoming.
