Their chicken hummus shawarma was really nice, needs some variation with the naan served with it.
Loved the flavour of their special tropical sheesha but it was quiet strong.

At first it seemed a like a tourist trap and I didn't want to go in and just walked past, but I did see a few locals and I thought that I should give it a try.

I was there with a couple of Kiwis who haven't had Middle Eastern food ever. End of the day, they did enjoy the meal.

Except for one of the waiting staff, the others seems like they didn't quite enjoy what they were doing there. Their service was quite hurried and without a smile.

But the saving grace for the place was the food. Having lived in the middle east for more than 15 years, I can vouch that their meat grills, shawarma, grilled lamb, Feta Sambousak, Lamb Kibbeh were good.
Their Hummus wasn't upto mark though

Living in the area which is full of choice when it comes to Middle Eastern food, I have ended up trying quite a few of the restaurants on Edgware Road. To be honest with you, a lot of the food is very similar at whichever restaurant you pick. So when people ask me which one I would recommend, I always say Al Dar. This is mainly because the food is always decent. Now, I'm not saying it's the best, but it's definitely the one I choose to go to every time.

The food is tasty, and not overly priced, unlike some of the others, but it's definitely reasonable for the portion sizes you get. I particularly like the Kafta Kosh Kash, which is the grilled minced lamb skewers mixed with onion, spices and parsley, served with a spiced sauce. Personally I wish the sauce was spicier but it's still yummy nevertheless. It tastes particularly delicious with some rice. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

We ordered the Cheese Sambousek to start which is a pastry filled with a tangy feta cheese which I love. And we ordered a vegetarian dish so that we can also get some veggies in us. Whenever I go to a halal restaurant, I always end up ordering only meaty dishes, so we thought we should balance this out a bit. We went for this aubergine stew which was cooked with tomatoes and chickpeas and was rather nice with some rice.

The thing with this place is that I know what to expect when I go, and although the service can be quite touch and go, they are usually much nicer and friendlier than a lot of the other restaurants on Edgware Road. I really don't understand the decor and why it needs to be lime green, but luckily I don't visit this restaurant for the interior design. They do leave you alone which can be nice when you want to sit for hours and talk the night away. Otherwise it can be annoying when you don't have the luxury of time and have to try and get the attention of the staff.

If you're looking to try Middle Eastern food in this area, do give Al Dar a try and let me know what you think.

Very good Lebanese food in pleasant surroundings. I love the Lamb Shawarma. Below average service, but the decent portion sizes makes up for it.

Halal.

Edgware Road in London is the only place to go if you want to find the best Lebanese food and restaurants in London. Over the past 10 years I've probably eaten at 80% of the places along there at least once. There ar

My parents discovered this restaurant and invited us to try it out. Come to find out they loved it so much that they had breakfast lunch and dinner in the same restaurant! Well, the food speaks for itself. Everything is freshly made and very well seasoned literally you can’t go wrong picking anything of the grill menu. What I love the most is the juice selection which is definitely more expanded than other restaurants. Lastly, it is actually one of the few restaurants in the area that is family friendly able to accommodate large groups and the restaurant wasn’t full of hookah smoke but rather you are greeted by the owner who was very kind and accommodating. Highly recommend this restaurant! Check out some of the pictures of the food platters we ordered.

Was recommended to this by a friend who always comes here and mentioned that they never drop in quality. Sitting area was good and Staff was friendly and served well apart from when we had to wait for the baklava that didn’t come. Food was excellent. Both the meat and chicken was juicy, tender and cooked very well. Shawarma was average but their Hummus with Shawarma was a nice touch. The only very negative part was the washroom and toilets. Not well kept. Only one basin and tight space.

I go to Al Dar often with family as we all really enjoy the food. The shawarma wrap I prefer over others in the area. Yesterday we also tried the special of the day which was a lovely lamb and rice dish. It reminded me of kabulli pilau (afghan dish) but slightly different. I usually go for a mixed shawarma wrap of the platter for 4 (would recommend if with a group)

I love this place. I just can't seem to get enough of the food. If you are looking for authentic Lebanese food, this is it. (Especially us Gulfies who are dying to find a place that reminds us of home) Took my dad here once and he's been asking me to take him there again (that's twice in a 15 day trip) I must give a shout out to our server Mohammed Akram. He was so welcoming and lovely.

Tasty food, generous quantities, and great ambiance 👌😍. It is located in one of the busiest streets of London, and it stays open until a late hour. We were 3, we tried their mixed platter for 2, and we couldn't finish it. Their Hummus is so delicious and creamy as well. Very attentive staff and quick service. Highly recommend 👌!

I can’t believe how this only has 3 stars at the time of writing this review. There’s not many places I have gone to that I can honestly say that I am surprisingly surprised on how good it was and I happy to say this is one of them. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection for all the dishes and ye I tried all my parties food also and visa versa and I can say not one thing disappointed. Now admittedly it was very quiet when I went there was only one other table so they might of took extra care but like I said all the food including desert was outstanding from taste to presentation. The service was on point very friendly staff, they checked on us, very helpful when we needed something no hanging around for an hour to get service. Overall this was and is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to reviewed or not. Now if I’m being nit picky the only thing I would say is when we ordered a Coke it came in a can to pour into the glass ourselves would of been nice if already poured into the glass but again that’s being nit picky and to be honest I actually prefer in can because I know I’m getting an actual coke and not the syrup they pump through a dispenser. So yes go here try it for yourselves and I promise you won’t regret it and I’m looking forward to going back next time in London. Check out my Tripadvisor also @mobe87
