Living close by to it, visiting The Diner was on my Zomato bucket list. I just find the whole American diner concept very neat and way better of a gastronomic idea than 99% of the fast food joints the US has produced.
I had been here before to kill some idle time with 2 friends, and we shared a cookies and cream cake, and it was damn tasty (if you like whipped cream and diabetes-level of sweetness, it's a treat; if not, probably staying away is not a poor plan). So I had to return there and have a proper meal.
Going straight to the point: The Diablo burger is ok. It has a nice taste and the ingredients were good, but I felt a bit underwhelmed and unimpressed for the price tag it is asked for it. For the same what a gourmet burger costs, it needs to be either bigger or to pack more of a punch taste-wise.
On the other hand, I did enjoy the oreo milkshake (really can't go wrong there) and the pancakes with maple syrup were the best I had during my meal.
The service is good, people are friendly and efficient, quick in getting your orders and checking on you; they were kind enough to bring some extra maple syrup, because pancakes for me need to be drowning in maple syrup. The music is as American as Uncle Sam and the feel manages to ring a certain authenticity to it, with its tables, cutlery, milkshake glasses, everything very reminiscent of that style.
If you want to just have nice deserts, the Diner is a good place to go. The style and the music is, as far as I have seen, the ones that emulate the franchise diner look best. Visit if you want some to have a desert while listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd (I even got me some country tunes, and Balck Hole Sun from the late great Chris Cornell of Soilundgarden fame), try ir out. For something more substantial, I would suggest just one visit to get it off the list, and move on to visiting other places in the area. Were it only for the milkshakes, the pancakes and all those treats, wous ranked the place higher. But when your flagship burger is unconvincing... maybe the Philly cheese steak sandwich will so do it for me. But Philly cheese steak sandwiches always hit home.

I've been here a couple of times and the food is good but for some reason I think it's overpriced for what I am buying. As a practising vegetarian ( 8 years and I'm still tempted by fish at times) the selection of vegetarian is quite limited and the what is being offered seems to have the same format as other diners e.g. Halumi Burger or a Mushroom Burger; it's not very innovative.
However, the service of the staff and the crowded tables show that this destination is a popular attraction for a gathering.

I was at The Diner restaurant for a friend's birthday party and I would say I love the restaurant decor and atmosphere. Although I only spent few minutes there, nevertheless I enjoyed my tasty and well prepared ribs and fries meal. I would definitely come to spend more time.

One of my favourite places to come and eat casually, this is a very friendly diner right on the corner next to Dalston Junction station. They have a great range of tasty veggie and vegan options. Some of their food like the Diner Vegan Burger is nothing special, but others like the Southern Fried Seitan Burger is delicious and I’d highly recommend!! Their dishes are also super filling and I find I often don’t need to order a side of fries too. As with most places though, I’d avoid the vegan Mac ‘n’ Cheese... Prices are London average but on the higher end- don’t expect much change from £10+ for your main.

Stopped by last night and tried their buttermilk chicken. It was delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly, for such a chunky piece, it was not over cooked or rubbery in any way. Pure white meat too. Lovely. Also sampled a Bloody Mary which hit the spot but not the best I’ve sampled so far (I am on a mission to find the best in London and around the world). The service was a bit slow unfortunately. But the staff were apologetic and very friendly and I guess it can’t be helped on a busy and snowy Saturday night. I’ll be back.

Good tasty food. Service is a little slow. Many vegetarian options.

Wicked tastey food and have an amazing veg/vegan menu too well worth the money and the staff are always amazing I can never think of a bad time I've ever been and even when things wasn't right they were dealt with quickly and properly can't rate this place enough

I came here for with a friend on Thursday night 28th march 2019. Ordered a The Diablo burger and hanger fries.Food was great the service was good. No complaints here. Can recommend this place no hesitation. Will return

Great place to grab some breakfast! Food was delicious, place had a great vibe which was anchored by our host Mark.. The breakfast tots are brilliant!!!
