Small bar playing cheesy music with bras on the ceiling - what more
could you want! Can get a little crowded but is definitely worth visiting - go
before 9 at the weekend and you get in for free - go after and it is about £3.
This place is brilliant, although they weren't serving food when I went it's all about the feel you get the minute you walk in. Like walking back in time. There is a lot of whisky on offer and that is never a bad things. Good old fashioned rock and roll playing as well.. This is a fix for when you need some rock nostalgia
A playful, 80's L.A. style bar with a working jukebox that's always backed up with requests from everyone having a great time. It's not hard to make friends here and I've easily had one of my more memorable nights here, despite the amount of drinks knocked back.
Dress code: No suits, ties or formal wear. Strictly casual. The door staff don't hesitate to refuse someone they think doesn't fit in.
Slim Jims stays open later than most other bars on Upper Street so is always reasonably full on weekends and week days. The place has been successful in replicating the style of the kind of American bars you see in the movies. Think Coyote ugly; the place is dark and the music is loud. The bar is lined by raised red stools and the walls are covered in posters of old rock stars. Bras hang from the ceiling due to the bars old gimmick where girls could flash their bras at the bar staff for a free glass of Prosecco, or, for those in a particularly naughty mood, donate their bras to the display for a free bottle. Unfortunately this seems to have come to an end, but the bar still maintains its distinctly mischievous feel.
The atmosphere at Slim Jims is just fantastic. It's a short walk from Angel tube station and is well worth a visit if, like me, you are after a fun bar with something a little different about it.
I went there for happy hour with friends and had a great time. The quirky decor of hanging bras and graffiti'd walls transports you out of London and is a real experience. The service was on the slow side, but that's my only complaint. Slim Jims is a hidden gem and I highly recommend the 'Parma Violence' cocktail.
M joined us as we moved on to our second stop of the evening, which is probably as far from 69 Colebrooke Row as you can get (in style, not distance). Slim Jim's Liquor Store is a popular rock and roll dive bar, sandwiched between Upper Street's delightful cafés and restaurants. You are transported to LA as soon as you step inside. As one review on the website says, "It smells like grunge sounds!". One of the first things you will notice is the array of bras hanging from the ceiling - anyone that is willing to hand over their bra will receive a drink on the house apparently.
The bar is incredibly well stocked, and it does apparently work as an off license too, though I'm not sure if this is actually true. I would have thought that it would be more of a bourbon and beers type bar, but a lot of effort went in to M and L's cocktails. The bottled beers are more interesting than the draught options, and I went for a Sierra Nevada Kellerweis which I haven't seen in London before.
This is the place to rock up to towards the end of the evening, especially from Thursday-Saturday when it stays open til 3am, with no suits / ties / formal wear allowed. There will either be a DJ playing classic tunes, or a free jukebox for all to enjoy. We were very taken with Slim Jim's and plan to return en masse soon, after stopping off at Primark first for some bras of course
Slim Jim's is great for a night of boozy fun with friends. They have a jukebox which i loved and a fantastic selection of tunes. The vibe is sort of an edgy indie-rock vibe, which for some reason encourages me to drink whiskey, so I have never had a bad night in Slim Jim's. By the end of the night everyone will be dancing.
Live music was great and fun! Margaritas hit the spot, it is a small space but with actually adults helping each other pass by and move around its allways a fun spot to be in.
This is the best bar I've ever visited in London, the staff are incredibly sweet and funny and inviting. I have never felt more comfortable. Cocktails are a great price and amazingly made 10/10. I'll be here as much as my bank account allows. Amazing bar
This is probably the most honest Irish-English with subtle American vibe bar in Upper Street Islington, London. It's Artsy, Gothic, Rich in vibes. My gal Kelsey at the bar does the most amazing, unique cocktails you have ever tasted with a great smile. They have a wide range in cocktails, draft, beers, spirits & any drink of your choice. A MUST visit "Life of the party bar in London." I Loved It! Scrap 5 Stars, it's 100 Stars.
Really awesome venue!
Has a good stage and great selection of beers pouring, which includes my favourite E1 Brew Co IPA and Pilsner Lager on tap.
Friendly service and love the interior. They’ve got a really good selection of branded neons and a cool bra art installation and plenty of atmospheric lighting and darker tables in corners which are perfect for weekday date nights!
Good happy hour deal and love the bathrooms! Full of stickers and doodles.
Great lineup of live performances on the weekends.
Will be here again for a gig.
Well laid out late night bar. Very extensive selection of drinks. Staff were all pleasant and efficient.
Music was all a bit Dad Rock for me but that's nit picking. I'd definitely visit again.
It was a great night, I was there to see the band who were doing a warm up free intimate gig before appearing at festivals. Overall definitely a five star down and dirty rock bar that is highly recommended. However one down side was the bar manager who seemed determined not to smile all night. I was sat at the bar for about three hours and had five pints of the also excellent Signature Roadie IPA, good price at £5.60. At one point after it had got busy with band playing only a few feet away a young lady asked if she could squeeze between me and the next person to get a drink, yes of course. Unfortunately the bar staff, who'd been otherwise excellent, missed her and served a couple of people either side. With her frustration creeping up I tried to attract their attention with an "excuse me", the bar manager noticed and served her and she thanked me. However the bar manager then indicated he had a problem with me and after twice failing to hear what he was saying across the bar I walked round to meet him at the end. He told me not to do what I had done, that I didn't know all that he was having to deal with, indicating his radio receiver, and basically that I had been out of order. I was very surprised as, being a bar manager myself for many many years that's the last thing I would do and felt I had been polite and courteous. No matter I apologised but I must say if I'd spoken to a customer like that is be surprised if they ever came back. He wouldn't even give me a smile as I left. Given how good the bar was, the rest of the bar staff who served me more or less the instant I needed a refill, they interaction I had with the owner (I think), and the excellent band I will probably go back but it did sour what had otherwise been an excellent evening. He may well have been having problems but you don't take them out on customers.
Had the most fun here went to a local gig near by and stumbled across this place on the way back. There was live music tasty drinks and friendly staff overall the atmosphere was so much fun will definitely be returning at some point

Wow, i did a gig here, with an old musician friend, i hadn't seen in a very long time. It was a very nostalgic performance to a packed venue with a great atmosphere. This jam night is now to be held fortnightly after this very successful inaugural night. Hosted by the Mete Ege Blues Trio you can be assured of a superb night of rockin blues. Staff and service are excellent . Sorry i cant be a regular attender.🙄
Great tiny venue for live music - always feels, and probably is, rammed packed. In the great tradition of dive bars has an ever growing collection of bras above the bar.
Such a fun bar ! Fantastic live music, reminds me of being back in New Orleans or Nashville.
Quite small area near the stage so expect to be pushed around a bit.
Slim Jim’s was the highlight of my London trip. A right proper dive, great bartenders, and a banger of a band. 11/10.
Slims feels like home. It only takes walking through the doors to bring out your inner rock star. Confidence and swagger and a banging juke box. Everyone who works here is fabulous, the atmosphere is perfect, the happy hours on cocktails are long and very happy. I've been coming here for many years and it feels just like your favourite lived in leather jacket.
I’ve been a customer here for a long time and slim Jim’s is so fun. Such good times, drinks and staff. Rory and Agne are a dream team and the most fun and polite staff ever. Love slim Jim’s rock onnnnn xx
One of the best bars in London, I love this place
Favourite local bar. Big love to Rory, Agne and Kelsey for always looking after me and making the world a better place.

Great Bar. always good music!! Great staff
My favourite drink is the slim Jim's from the cocktail list!
Great American style bar. Relaxed, good music, great selection of whiskies and bourbons. The staff are always friendly and quick. They managed to keep the bar seating even post lockdown here's to more good times. Can't recommend enough!
