Crouch End’s new high street craft alehouse. Maiden visit on 28th February 2018. Rectangular single-roomed venue with exposed brickwork, mostly chair-and-table seating, and perimeter bar stools. A compact, spatially efficient bar at the rear is situated opposite a pizza oven. Five carefully chosen, well-kept cask ales come with a sizeable keg offer of twelve interesting keg beers. It is a very long time since I enjoyed Magic Rock Ringmaster quite so much as last night. Friendly, enthusiastic staff run the bar and pizza oven - you must try the marinara! Music was at a fairly comfortable level, and while the overhead Led lighting is mostly subdued, small, bright corner is available with perimeter seating for 2 people. A destination venue .
Top quality, well served cask and keg ales is this pub's speciality. And they do it better than any pub in the area. And the Napoli style pizzas are great too.
I have lived in Crouch End for 12 years - and I've been waiting for someone to open a proper decent boozer, with a genuinely well thought out beer selection like this, for the whole of that time. Augustiner? Taras Boulba? Kernel? Heaven!
Great beer topped with really tasty and incredibly priced pizza!!
It's like a spaceship bringing good beer has landed on planet Crouch End.
Super decent little venue, that does food till late.
In the evening, the atmosphere is sexy with low, intimate lighting, great for first dates.
The service was warm and friendly. There was an issue with food, as my friends and I all ordered pizzas at the same time, however, mine never came. Eventually, I needed to leave, but the staff did acknowledge the mistake and offered me a refund (which I'm yet to receive, but that may be a banking issue, and not Small Beer’s problem)
Overall, quite nice. I'll visit again!
A low key (but always banging) local for those not quite ready to go home. Beer is always on rotation, so you'll have a reason to come back often. Haven't tried the pizza yet, but it does look delicious.

Amazing experience here! Great beers all craft and wood oven pizza (for £5) !!! Fantastic value and the decoration is fantastically simple and minimal. My new favourite pub in crouch end! I love it!
Lovely little pub in the heart of Crouch End. Serving beers from small independent brewers. The Monday to wednesday 4-6 free slice of pizza with a beer is also a great idea.
Truly superb pub, great selection of beers on tap, friendly staff, good atmosphere and long hours. Strongly recommended.
Best pub in Crouch End and one of the best in London for craft beer lovers! Great craft beer, which rotates every week, and amazing staff who are always attentive and know their beer!
Brilliant pizzas, wicked cocktails and wonderful ales, all in a small place jumping with life.
Beautiful bar, rustic and very trendy. They have a very good selection of beers, IPA, a good cocktails menu 👍🏾😃very quiet at the moment maybe becaus is still new, but great to go in and do some work and relax with a drink by your own, or in company. It is also kids friendly.
Pizza was amazing and just right. Cocktails were also a delight. Would recommend and visit again.
Great place around the corner for some great beer and pizza!
Love this place! It's our weekend go to! Sean is an amazing host and knows all his beer! He recommeded us the exact craft beer suitable to our palate. Would definetly come here again!!
Lovely craft ales and IPAs. Big selection with smaller glass size options for the stronger ones. Pizzas were nice too, thin crust and strong flavours. Staff very friendly chatting about what was on tap and there were also some odd coctail options including a verdita cocktail which came with pineapple, chilli coriander and mint chaser.
One odd thing about the place was it was quite busy about 6pm but around 8pm it seemed to empty out over 15 mins to just 8 or 10 people there, but then filled up again quickly.
A great pub
Great little venue, with good beers, yummy pizzas at great prize. Would have been 5 stars if they had just a few more beers, but I really recommend this place.
Lovely staff really polite and friendly and my pizza was just great 😌
Tasty beers, good line up. Great for a late night pizza.
Awesome little boozer with high end craft beers. I had an epic, but expensive pint of 5am Verdant which stung the pocket, but tickled the taste buds! My partner had a Passion fruit Gose from Howling Hops which is a new favourite. Happy days!
Great selection of beers and excellent cocktails. Try the pizzas too, super reasonably priced and super tasty. Great addition to Crouch End.
They have a really good selection of beers but they can be a bit pricey. I was paying £7.50 a pint which is way above average but the beer I was drinking was so nice I was happy to stay for a few!
Pizzas looked and smelt nice too! Also a good range of cocktails that are actually great value! Nice little place!
My old review was below.
This is my new review.
Lots have changed with the staff and the vibe.
Staff are a lot happier and that shows in the service and the customers reactions. The old Small Beer is back.
Great place to relax , good service , great pizza's and drinks.
Good selection of Craft Beer
👏👏👏👏

This place used to have class and was a high end craft beer with quality pizza establishment.
Oh my god how it has changed.
Staff that show the owners direction, exasperated, paddling like a duck on water.
Not for the first time in the last few months they have no pizza (this is what they are specialists at) or (something has broken) or they have trouble ( no door staff) for a late night drinking venue.
Staff changes on a monthly basis which for a local establishment with many regulars has lost many of those regulars. It takes ages to grow a business but seconds to destroy it.. hint hint
The direction of whoever runs this place is shocking. I guess it's money orientated direction overrides the long term quality of this great place.
I would guess in another year this place will unfortunately be even worse than its present direction.
As an ex business owner of similar places I've seen this path before, after I've sold it & normally the new owners are the ones to blame probably because they don't care (money is everything) as long as it supports something else. Eventually you see the downfall of what actually turns those pounds over. In this case it's the same owners which is very surprising. But when you see it obviously only cares about its sister pub it's not a surprise at all.
Honest review 👊 take it anyway you want to. But on a Saturday night at peak time, the fridge is broken. 😂 It's not my fault 😂
