Reviews Murger Han

I have been waiting for a Xi'an restaurant in London for ten years and it is finally here. The staffs are very friendly and definitely very close to the original Xi'an cuisines. Price is reasonable and a lot more staffs actually speak good English. If you passing by Euston, should definitely give it a try! The pork murger is to die for!!!

As a keen fan of Xi'an food, Murger Han's flavour is really typical. I strongly recommend its glass noodles and flat noodles.

Stepping through the doors of Murger Han felt like we were stepping into a portal straight into China. We ordered the beef and pork murgers, tofu skewers, glass noodles in sesame sauce, spicy clay pot noodles (I forgot what these were called exactly) and of course the biang biang noodles. Every dish was an absolute delight, though we all preferred the noodles to the murgers. Definitely order the tofu skewers as well- id never seen anything like them before, but will certainly be ordering them again when I return - which will be very soon! Price was reasonable - came down to under £20 per person for quite a generous feast. Highly recommend !

We actually went to the Mayfair outlet. The price was slightly higher than I would expect for Chinese food. The taste of the dishes however gave me a surprise. They were surprisingly good. I initially had doubt to order the tofu slices in peanut sauce. Hei it’s great and it has a taste of garlic. The bowl of biang mien is so good too - spicy salty sour all in one. Surely we will come back again. Hope the price does not go ridiculous.

The food from Murger Han hails from China’s Xi’an province, meaning you should expect intense flavours and generous portions of brothy noodles and meaty burger-like concoctions. The City Lane team recently moseyed on down to fill up on some authentic Chinese food as well as a few cheeky beers.

I was so excited when I found the typical food from my hometown!!! And the flavor is quite authentic :) The restaurant is small and simple, but they serve a variety of traditional food from Shaanxi province. 在伦敦能吃到我家乡的西安小吃简直太让人激动啦!而且他们家的味道蛮正宗的!餐馆比较小,装修也非常简单,但是有各种特色的陕西小吃!

Murger Han features the food of lesser known Shaanxi province in China, which borders Sichuan.  The clientele consisted mostly of trendy looking young Asians, and all of the tables near us placed their orders in Mandarin.  But this is not a place with a basic Chinatown atmosphere.  Though casual, it has a modern look decorated with light colored woods.  You could bring a date here.

We started by sharing the eponymous pork murger more traditionally known as rou jia mo.  That's a Chinese hamburger of pulled pork between a bun of yeasted wheat-based flat bread.  Not as exciting as  some other Chinese meat sandwiches such as Taiwanese bao's eaten elsewhere.  I preferred my murger doused with a little of the good chili oil that was on the table.  Filling was a touch on the dry and salty side for my taste.

I adored my main of biang biang mien which transported me to childhood.  My mom grew up in Sichuan and used to make a similar tasting noodle dish with a sauce of fried tomatoes and garlic, thickened with beaten egg.  This one was better than my mom's.  I would recommend getting this dish with the full works for only an extra 60p, unless you are vegetarian.  The version with chilli oil *and* tomato/egg also contains a big dollop of spicy braised pork, a mound of diced Chinese pickled mustard stems and chilli oil, as well as lightly boiled pak choi and tomato/egg sauce on top of thick hand pulled ribbons of rice noodle.  Beguiling balance of spicy, tart, salty combined with the richness of egg yolk and the delicate sweetness of fresh tomato.  A lovely slithery texture too.  My companion ordered the version with only tomato/egg and complained that his dish was a little bland compared to mine.

We drank tap water, and a very filling lunch for two came to £22.50 including service.  We didn't manage to finish our mains because the portions are quite large.  If you wanted to explore more of the menu they have small bowls on the table so you can share any of the large noodle dishes.  I would be happy to order the biang biang mien with the full works here again.

I think it’s safe to say our visit to Xi’an Impressions the other week was a palpable hit – the atmosphere was buzzy, the price fair, and most important of all, the place had superb food that managed to totally quench Fen’s appetite (for the next few hours at least). In fact I was so bowled over by its success that I’ve been eager to visit fellow Xi’an restaurant Murger Han ever since I heard about it from Chinese food guru Lizzie Mabbott.

This place was a gem of a find and authentic Xi An cuisine. Absolutely loved the cold noodles in the set for 2. Everything else was really good including the murger but it was the cold noodles for me that stole the show. For £33 for 2, we had more than our fill. Everything was delicately prepared and cooked. The cocktails, surprisingly, were excellent. Excellent because it's just not something you'd expect at a 2 for £12 price point. You also don't usually find good cocktails in hole in the wall Chinese places. We can't rate the service to be 5 stars but they were polite, prompt and efficient even during the dinner rush.

This is definitely one of my favourite places in the whole world. I almost feel like I shouldn't do a good review as it's going to get harder to get a table if more people know about this restaurant. But the Biang Biang noodles is one of my favourite dishes, so much flavours that mixes into a beautiful symphony. Tables are quite small. Service is okay, never had bad service but not excellent either. But the food speaks for itself.

Authentic Xian cuisine served in very very big bowls, but doesn't look like they have much, but still enough to get full. You can order how spicy you want for certain dishes... had the spiciness they had but not spicy enough for me. They also have the murger or Rogamo, I recommend getting the original (pork), we also got the duck but it's tasted exactly like crispy aromatic duck, nothing special. If you're still hungry, you can add £3 for unlimited BiangBiang noodles, which is just the noodles to add to your big bowl of leftover sauce/soup. But their dishes were a little bit salty for us...

Lovely food with excellent choice of ingredients. We’ve been there twice for breakfast and dinner. We LOVED the breakfast, that was very authentic. It’s making you travel all the way to China! The noodles for dinner were absolutely fantastic! Would definitely come back for breakfast for our next visit to London. The only small issue was the waiters’ attitude which was rude but I guess it’s part of the experience.

Went to this restaurant around 9pm in the evening and it was relatively quick service. Very good portion sizes for the noodles and I liked the combination of flavour of the tofu skewers. Only feedback was the noodles could be more chewy and it was slightly over cooked. The menu could be designed so that it’s easier to understand for the noodle section.

I come here for the cold noodles - always my go-to. Prices seem to have really shot up (understandable). Service is attentive, but during peak times, it seems rushed. You finish your food, the bill magically appears, and you are ushered out the door.

Insanely good food spot right next to Euston. Always go for the biang biang noodles which are, well, b(i)anging 🤟😁 smoky chilli oil, spring onions & minced pork (can choose your meat) with the most moorish hand torn noodles. Also £3 supplement to get a noodle refill which I haven’t tried (yet) 😍 Murger King 👑

A soothing breakfast after my piggy days and before more piggy days. A small but filling bowl of congee, nothing extra, simply beautiful. The murger is more traditional here. No fancy flaky puff pastry. Just a toasted hearty flatbread with a crusty shell and tasty marinated pork. The lean pork filling is still juicy, and the flavor is gentle. Not oily, not too overpowering for the early morning :) The space is unexpectedly spacious and airy. Service is very friendly and speedy. This will be my breakfast place if I travel via Euston. Also looking forward to try the daytime menu.
