Reviews The Amersham Arms

I would like to spend some time focusing on New Cross, it has a lot to offer and one hell of a lot of potential. A place close to my heart in this home from home is the Amersham Arms.

It's the mecca for Goldsmith's students - the food is good pub grub. Expect some great bands here, the likes of blur, bloc party, the maccabees all started their careers here. They have a decent selection of beers and as most pubs are, fairly quiet during the day and rammed in the evening. Literally rammed, spilling out onto the street most nights of the week.

Good for students and music lovers.

Lovely pub directly opposite New Cross station.. Great for live music, whether you play in a band or just want to see a good gig Medium sized pub space in the front with outdoor smoking area and nice large gig room in the back with its own bar! Spacious with a large stage area and excellent sound. Played there a few times now and definitely going back For anyone who remembers the old drink Aftershock, this is the first place in years i've seen that behind the bar! True nostalgia!

Came here for a live podcast recording. Great place with a decent space for the performance. There are some obstructed views in the space so if you’re in need of a clear view, arrive early. The space is behind the bar area in a dedicated larger room.

Fantastic pub. Went there 3 nights while travelling. Jack is a fantastic bartender that is quite talkative an easy to get along with. Was a fun place with live music and a comedian one night. Live music was a fun an interactive experience. Affordable drinks and great experience all around.

Great New Cross underground night club and venue for up-and-coming Djs and indie bands to play live.

This is a great venue, opposite New Cross station and very easy to get to. Street parking very easy to find around the venue.

Amazing Sunday lunch. Everything was fantastic, but the (perhaps unlikely) star of the show was the kale and garlic! Absolutely perfect. Highly recommended to anyone who hasn't been. I will certainly be back as soon as possible!

I went there for an event. New Cross is not my regular hanging out spot, so never knew Amersham Arms. I was very positively surprised seeing all vegan menu! Had lovely chips with miso sauce and a pint of good wheat beer. One star missing because half of the menu was sold out and there was no toilet paper in a female loo but otherwise super nice place to go if you're south of the river.

I went with a friend on a stand up comedy. The host was very welcoming, and the comedians were funny. I’d recommend for anyone who is looking for something different than westend shows to check out the stand up comedy. I got a coke, the plastic cup was broken and leaking, hopefully next time when I visit, I’ll get a drink in a better cup.

Still one of my favourite places for a night out. Attracting students, locals & people from other towns, the vibe is so cool. Drinks are reasonable priced, with a lot of bar staff so not waiting to long to be served. Really well managed & great door security staff.
