This was a pleasant find whilst in London, 2/3 years ago. Have been back a few times more since and have always enjoyed the food. A high end venue serving wonderfully tasty French cuisine and it would be hard to pick anything that would be bad. The breads they serve you are absolutely gorgeous and always warmed up. One of my favourite breads was a croissant style bread. The decor is sumptuous and the service impeccable. The noise levels were low so that there was no need to go above a normal speaking tone.

My cousin worked here as a chef so she took me along time try out the cuisine. They treated us extremely well (as expected), and provided us with complimentary glasses of champagne. The servers were attentive but not too attentive, which did not make them overbearing (which might be the case in high-end restaurents like these). We got about 4 starters, 3 mains, and 2 desserts and were extremely satisfied at the end, to say the least. A good mix between meats, vegetables, raw, fried, and hot vs cold temperature foods were offered. The display of the food was art, which basically tempted me to get my iphone out. The art work was classy but not overbearingly so (how one might feel where they dare not walk for fear of breaking antiques). Overall, great experience!

A unique dining experience that challenged me to have food that I had never tried before. The waiter was brilliant in explaining what everything on the menu was and made me feel reassured with my choice. A bit on the expensive side, but worth it as a one off!

I originally had booked Marcus at The Berkeley for a surprise birthday lunch. I’ve had friends dine at Marcus and say it’s not worth it and there’s no atmosphere (this was few years ago), but the lunch tasting menu looked good value. And you know, pathetic that I am, "Maybe we might see Marcus?" I thought. And then I read the reviews of Koffman’s and rebooked for there instead. I’m so glad I did. Not only was the lunch set menu (£26 for three courses) exceptionally good value, but every mouthful was delicious and beautifully cooked – and we felt well fed at the end. There was the addition of 4 quite substantial freshly cooked speciality bread rolls, and a very tasty amuse bouche. And the service – impeccable. Friendly and attentive, but not over the top. Just seemed to want to make sure you had a lovely time, really. They also happily did a ‘Happy Birthday’ in chocolate with a lit candle on my husband’s dessert. The waitress made sure she timed the lighting of it perfectly with my husband’s return to the table from the men’s room – even rushing back from the other side of the room when he did return. And the atmosphere – really laidback, felt like a special place, but without being too stiff. Light jazz burbling away in the background, perfect romantic lighting, even for lunch. We splashed out with a £50 bottle of wine (and some birthday champagne) but there were plenty of more reasonable bottles to choose from. The whole thing came to less than we would have had to spend in Marcus’ anyway. Forget superstar big name chefs and quirky menus. This is exquisite French cooking done beautifully – it’s simple all about flavour. We’ll be back!

Someone once described Pierre Koffmann’s first restaurant, the 3 Michelin-starred La Tante Claire, thusly “Other great restaurants come and go, La Tante Claire cruises by effortlessly like a Rolls Royce in the fast lane”. Indeed many household name chefs including Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Marcus Wareing and Tom Kitchin learned much of their craft in Koffmann’s kitchens. His great talent is evident at the excellent Koffmann’s where he has eschewed star-chasing and instead serves the "Gascon-style food he remembers from his childhood" and sublime food it is too. I had the best Beef Wellington I have ever tasted (see photo). Admittedly this is something of a departure from the Gascon theme but I am sure the sweet irony of a Frenchman bettering his British counterparts with his cooking of a dish with the same name as the General who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo is not lost on Koffmann. The signature Soufflé Aux Pistaches Et Sa Glace is simply phenomenal. This is one of the world’s great restaurants.

We visited Koffmann's for my birthday meal back in December and it was great to re visit as we had once been when it had been the Boxwood Square Cafe. Staff were friendly and the food was great. Would recommend the Squid Bolognese!!
