I hired out the downstairs area for my 21st birthday for 20 guests, and we had such an amazing experience! The manager, Alex, was very easy to communicate with and ensured that we could plan the perfect night. At the venue, Kyle was so helpful in getting set up, from sorting out the music to explaining how the venue works. It was clear that my best interests were at the heart of the evening.
At 11pm the downstairs area was opened up to the public. This created such a fun environment, and it was so lovely to see everyone have such an enjoyable time together (and enjoy my music haha!). Great atmosphere and great fun. Thank you to the entire team for making my birthday so very special!

❤️ A versatile modern boozer.

The Elephant & Castle pub is situated where Newington Causeway and New Kent Road meet in Elephant & Castle. Getting here is easy, the Tube station is just across the road.
.
This area of London was actually named after The Elephant and Castle Inn which was built here in 1765. The pub was rebuilt twice, and finally demolished in 1959 together with the island on which it stood during the reconstruction of the whole area. Today’s modern pub was built in 1960 and thoughtfully retained the name.
.
This is a medium size pub with an eclectic mix of decor. The standout feature is the brutalist honeycomb concrete ceiling. There is a mix of wooden floors throughout and lots of comfy red upholstered seating including booths by the window. The servery is long enough to be seen whilst waiting to be served, to the left is the kitchen which overlooks the bar. Outside there is a large seating area with plenty of benches to catch a few rays or just watch the comings and goings of this busy part of London.
.
The beer choice was good, there are two cask ales for the cultured imbibers. I opted for a pint of Pravha, my pint was on point and pleasingly under a fiver. The food menu is minimal and has go-to pub favourites on it, plus roasts are available on a Sunday, Fish & Chips costs £14.
.
I arrived just after 1pm on a Saturday, the atmosphere was upbeat and there was a good crowd in. The Bournemouth v Liverpool game was showing on mute which had a few punters engaged. The soundtrack here was a good mix of rock and indie classics like Nirvana and The Jam. This place gets proper lively on weekend evenings with DJ’s spinning, kicking out time is 2am.
.
The @elephantcastlepub is a good allrounder that moves with the ebb and flow of its clientele. During the day you can enjoy a bit of grub and catch a game, at weekends you can have a bit of a blow out and get a bit lively, if that’s your bag. I enjoyed my visit here, worth a look folks.

Nice pub with character, had drinks only and reasonable price for London.
Staff friendly and great spot to watch footie, had a good size screen.
Food menu looked tasty will try when next in the area! 🐘 🏰
Delicious food and drinks, reasonable prices, helpful friendly staff. Fun view.
Hired out the private area downstairs and had the best experience. Kyle and Alex were super helpful, very accommodating and very supportive. The prices are so reasonable especially being in London, didn’t grab a chance to eat however my guests had some and really liked it. Would definitely recommend and I will definitely consider hiring the space again.
All around good experience for lunch here while during Eat Out to Help Out, so prices were fabulous. Great, friendly service at the bar.
The menu is quite simple - 3 types of burgers (beef, chicken, or vegan (which is a bean burger patty) which all come with fries, or if you don't want a burger, they have a quinoa salad. You can also just order fries if that's what you want. Dead simple and easy to follow. We grabbed the vegan burger and the chicken burger, with 2 fizzy drinks for £14 as part of Eat Out to Help Out. Both were excellent - chicken burger particularly was absolutely huge and the vegan burger was quite moist and juicy, which is great to have when eating a bean patty which are usually dry. Fries were also piping hot and delicious.
Good selection of drinks with the beer and wine options (though I do have to knock down a star as on the non-alcoholic side, they do not have Coke and instead have all the no-real-sugar Pepsi products...not even real Pepsi). The outside tables are nice, though you want to sit more inwards as the large roundabout is not too pleasant a location. Overall decent pub in a convenient location.
Popped in on a rainy Wednesday. Sadly the vegan burger was sold out, but the vegan quesadilla was a great alternative. Really well made, tasty, and arrived fast.
Quick and friendly service, though would have been good if they had delivered my food at the same time as my friend. The quesadilla came 10 mins before the burger, so we ate at different times. Probably because the quesadilla was listed as a starter - however it was a replacement for a main, so would have made sense to come at the same time.
The decor is quirky and well loved, giving it a warm and friendly feel. I did find the acoustics in the space quite challenging - it being a wide open space - and it was loud and busy. Also a lot of people seemed to be taking up room for slow drinking and not leaving much room for people who wanted to eat food.
But overall, I liked the place and would go back.
Great vibe. Great beers. And incredibly good value food!

Great pub with a proud heritage, being established in the centre of the community here for centuries! Set in the heart of the busy Elephant & Castle transport hub, it is ideal for access to & from the heart of the city. Love the vibrant & lively atmosphere in the evenings and also the quieter daytimes when can relax watching the busy outdoor street scene. Good selection of drinks, quality food and a pleasant outdoor seating area make this a great pub to visit!
Had a good time on Saturday night with my gangs here. Nice crowd, loved the music. DJ was cute, has sexy accent. Danced all night, really enjoyed it.
Food is amazing!!! Much better than what I’d expect from a normal pub. Went on a Saturday night and it’s was surprisingly not busy. Cool music as well. It’s a shame as we only first tried it after a year living at elephant castle, will visit more!
Atmosphere always nice, good selection of drinks on tap and food is well priced. Francesca is super nice also.
Nice bar and some good snacks on the menu.
Staff were really friendly and create a welcoming atmosphere
Possibly my favourite pub in London - incredibly cheap beer in an awesome setting with fantastic atmosphere

Cool young place with a vintage/hipster feel to it. Quite rustic and vibrant.
The drinks were not exceptional or not far from the standards anyway.
Had some red wine and it was not the worse when comparing it with average pubs in London, but at least it was cheap (9£ a large glass of the most expensive red wine).
The environment is cool - I liked the overall vibe and the young people. Music was nice indie rock as found in a lot of pubs. I would have loved something a bit more jazzy or a bit more creative considering the overall vibe I had when walking in.
The gents toilet smelled really bad and was a pretty intense experience to forget (and I worked in bars myself!)..
Overall cool and vibrant. Great place to catch up with friends!
