🚇Limehouse 🍺 £4.30 Fosters cash only ❤️ A no frills salt of the earth locals boozer. . The Crown sits on bustling Commercial Road on the edge of Limehouse. The nearest Tube is Limehouse DLR which is just across the road. . The Crown was built in 1867, it occupies a corner plot on the end of a row of shops in this much developed area of East London. . The decor here is traditional and maintains an oldschool feel. This is a one bar pub which is dominated by the stunning servery which must date from the 1930’s. There are some simple but elegant touches that nod to this pub’s heyday, in one corner is the old etched glass entrance to the old Saloon bar. The seating is a mix of long red velour banquettes, low level matching stools around small circular tables plus stools dotted around the bar. On the right hand side of the bar is a dartboard and not forgetting the proper pub carpet running throughout. . The beer choice was simple and included one cask ale. I decided on pint of Fosters due to the limited choice, my pint was excellent, well kept and cost just over four quid. Don’t stick out your phone when you go to pay, this is a cash only boozer. The pub doesn’t serve food, but there were plenty of Sunday lunchtime cheese and biscuits laid on if you fancied grazing. . We arrived around 1pm and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed with a dozen or so regulars in attendance. We were served by the Guv’nor who was very welcoming considering that we were new faces to this locals pub. The Guv’nor has been at the helm here for forty years, we ended up have a chat about the pubs recent history and how things have changed in and around the pub. If you fancy watching a game, there is live sport shown here, the dartboard is a popular fixture here, most of the locals were gathered around the oche on this visit. . If you want to enjoy a proper oldschool London pub experience then The Crown is a must visit. We absolutely loved it here, the decor, the atmosphere and the warm welcome from the Landlord. Forty years ago pubs like this were ten a penny, today they are a rare find on London’s pub landscape. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 28.05.23

Gem of a pub. Unchanged in what looks like 40 years plus and all the better for it. Reasonable prices and so friendly we were even offered free ham rolls. Brilliant.
