Greatly designed and tasty coffee pocket. And it serves selected beer, too. I want to comeback. And I will.

For the past few weeks, a colleague of mine has been bombarding me with photos of the Mast Brother's doughnuts. As I had been wanting to try their brewed chocolate, I decided to stop by on Friday lunchtime, before they moved to their new factory down the road.

My key lime pie donut (reasonably priced for their size, at £2.50) was intimidatingly large, but I didn't let that put me off. I may have chosen my doughnut based on it's devastatingly good looks, but luckily the flavour did not let me down. The Mast Brothers have managed to recreate a lemon meringue pie (laced with the slightest hint of lime) in a doughnut - perfection.

The Madagascar brewed chocolate (£3 a pot / 2-3 cups) was unlike anything else I had tried before. It smelt like chocolate but didn't taste like your typical brown bar. The fruity notes came through loud and clear, whilst a subtle chocolate aftertaste hit the back of my throat. Not bad at all. In fact I'd have it again, and I'd try the others too. My suggestion: have it without milk.

On a recent trip to New York, my friend Tim & I dropped in to the Mast Brothers chocolate factory in Williamsburg after getting a caffeine fix at Blue Bottle Coffee and a fantastic brunch at Egg (all highly recommended - stay tuned for a MTL vs NY special edition). Short story : Their chocolate is superb.

Fast forward a few months, and I hear the excellent news that the Mast Brothers are going to be residing in The Bulldog Edition café space in the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch until early next year. The even better news - that this is just a precursor to them opening a London based factory & brew bar on Redchurch Street. Win.

At The Bulldog Edition, alongside their chocolate bars (a classy stocking filler if ever there was one), they are serving up their special Brewed Chocolate beverages - not your average indulgent hot chocolate, rather a serious cocoa creation akin to a finely crafted coffee.

"Made with freshly roasted, ground cocoa nibs steeped with water and served in hot or cold iterations, brewed chocolate is intensely fruity and complex, drawing direct connection back to the cacao plant."

They recently opened a Brew Bar in New York to showcase them, and will do the same here.

You can also get yourself a Masthattan cocktail which makes use of the brewed chocolate along with the usual rye, maraschino & vermouth suspects.

And don't leave without getting your hands on an incredible Mast Brothers doughnut, if there are any left that is. Apparently they start appearing around 10.30am.

Great venue to get some work done if you work online. Get there early because all the good desks will be taken and you’ll be relegated to a chair or couch position. WiFi is not too bad, coffee is great and there’s breakfast meal deals. Hot latte will cost you 2.8 pounds, there’s plenty of power points, lots of assorted seating and delicious coffee and snacks to keep you fully charged! #BeatTheGrind

One of the top five coffee shop in my list at London so far, because I prefer strong tasty coffee. And most London coffee is more sour and flat. They have "donuts", which is not every coffee shop have, very "America". Good pastries, beers, cocktails just like other Ace hotel location's. Yes, they have wifi. Long table with lots of seats and plugs, good for groups people and solo to catch up the works and freelancers. Always host the music on the group floor and other events up stairs.

These guys must have upped their game since some of these reviews were written! The coffee's great and the staff are super fun and friendly. It's not cheap, but then it's a pretty exceptional location. Go if you want a high-energy workspace
