A secret gem of a place tucked away not far from the maddening crowd, it has an extensive variety of plants/flowers that keep changing every time I visit. The sweet scent of the garden leaves me on a natural high.
I highly recommend visitors to become a Friend as I guarantee you will be coming back for more.
A must visit for lovers of horticulture and history! Was initially shocked by the price but it was absolutely worth it, even doing just the self-guided audio tour. A real hidden gem, the cafe is wonderful as well.
Such an interesting and charming place. I loved it and it's a nice size. Would recommend the little tour, Donatella was really informative and I also recommend the cakes in the cafe!!
I think this garden like the hidden secret garden off London.
Even coming on a winters days such beautiful surroundings.
The audio i got on walkaround good.
Will be bringing my parents back in the warmer months.
Only critiscism confusion on arrival even though i had proof of payment.
A most enjoyable and interesting visit. Well worth seeing. A hidden gem. The tour was fantastic and made so enjoyable by Jane who guided us round the garden us in a most informative and enjoyable way whilst focussing on the medical and scientific role.
A secret garden, full of wonderful plants and stories about the development of medicines from plants. Still relevant for apothecaries (or researchers, to be accurate) who are looking for the development of treatments for disease. It also has a fabulous cafe and you can buy plants from the shop.
My first visit to Chelsea Physic Garden. It is a wonderful place with a great history packed full of interesting plants of all descriptions. There is so much to see in the four acres and I didnt get to see it all so will return. Restaurant relaxed and food fresh and enjoyable. Well worth a visit.
A real oasis run by people who obviously really have a passion for what they do. Would love to visit again in May or June. Thoroughly recommend this delightful place
My favourite beautiful oasis in London. Lovely relaxing gardens and a wonderful place for lazy long alfresco lunch. Perfection οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½
Beautiful, serene garden with a surprises around every corner, packed with botanical wonders from around the world. Highly recommend.
Wonderful inspirational place must for any nature lover. If you haven't been you missing one london greatest treasures. I was lucky to go with an amazing herbalist Varsha and Sonja Ayurvedic.
oldest garden in London . displaying plants that have been used for medicine and over useful products, also a great lunch is served. there are free guided tours during the day giving loads of information on the history of the gardens
The best garden in the world. It's amazing. I'm going to become a friend of the garden for my birthday so I can visit when I'm in Chelsea. Thank you so much Horatio O'Connor. J xxx
We were totally enchanted by this delightful garden. We joined a very informative (optional
& free) tour, with guide who specialised in the medicinal uses of plants. From poisonous hemlock to to fragrant lavender for house mites! Fascinating, & that hour flew by.
Then we wandered round the beautifully laid-out grounds, with planting segregated by use (eg textiles) & country. A lovely place, wish we could have stayed longer & will definitely revisit soon.
Such an incredible place with truly amazing gardens. Carol was a fantastic guide who provided many interesting stories as we walked through the beautiful environs.
A hidden gem. We found it peaceful, beautiful and very interesting.
Fantastic little gem for garden aficionados. Hidden behind an anonymous wall, but once you enter... wow!
I kept a promise to myself last summer and visited Chelsea Physic Garden. I had a wonderful time. The garden is much bigger than I imagined, and the guided tour was unexpected, too. This latter turned out to be quite a moving experience with tales of visitors expressing their gratitude, as well as appreciation, to the medicinal plants. The idea of explorers returning on their boats to drop off their exotic cargo at the riverside gateway to the garden was also a delight. I'm only sorry I left this treasure behind walls for so long.
Beautiful cafe!!! ππ
For visiting the cafe you still have to pay the fee for the garden πͺ΄ But it is SO worth it!
The garden atmosphere is quiet and calming. There is seating inside and outside. You can order inside and take your drinks outside with you. !! Afternoon tea needs to be booked 24h in advance!!
Apart from that there are many plants from around the world with lots of information π€
Have a cup of tea and stroll around the beautiful garden! πΈπ·
Hidden gem for Afternoon Tea in the heart of London, especially if the weather allows you to sit out in the historic garden. A nice change from your typical swanky hotel Afternoon Tea. Full review as follows:

β Ambience
The garden cafe has a really charming atmosphere, you really wonβt feel like youβre in the heart of London, but in an English village a few hours drive outside the city. If the weather means sitting inside itβs not quite as notable, but perfectly acceptable. Just try to go on a sunny day!

Six remarkably well-filled sandwiches on fresh moist bread. Very good.

Delicious scones, cream and jam. Could not fault here at all.

ββ Cakes
A selection of four rather stodgy and dense cakes. Would have been nice to have at least one light mousse style included.

Service was prompt if unspectacular. Note the closing time is strict, so donβt expect to be able to linger.
If you found my review or photos helpful, please leave a quick thumbs up π Thank you!
Lovely place to have tea and tasty authentic scones while looking out on the splendid garden. The buratina was emaculet with tender bread and soft mozzarella. Overall excellent food quality. Serving was quick although they forgot the milk. Will order the afternoon tea next time.
A bit pricey but it was Chelsea. Tasty and well presented.
Beautiful location and peaceful surroundings. Worth visiting.
We enjoyed having our afternoon tea in the garden and George was very kind , helpful, warm welcoming guy, thank you please keep your fabulous service
Great little spot for a light lunch or coffee/tea.
The food was good and it is a lovely location but the service was very ordinary. One fellow wound up half way through their lunch getting up and getting his own drinks! They also sat everyone without a booking (which was most people!) outside or at share tables that aren't quite big enough to be share tables which wound up making the whole experience quite awkward. The supposedly reserved tables were never used while I was there which made it more annoying.
Enjoyed my time at the Garden Cafe. Was sat outside, distanced from other tables. Our table was cleaned before we sat down. Wait staff was friendly and helpful. We had two delicious meals, a Caesar salad and the aubergine curry. Will come back again!
We received a warm welcome from the staff on duty.....A very hot day.
The Cafe is pleasant but can be expensive
Service charge is included and not optional. No cash accepted either.
A permanent gazebo has been erected otherwise tables, chairs and parasols outside.
Lovely spot right there in the Physic Garden, with indoor and outdoor seating (plus a space that's kinda both, in a marquee). Good menu; I tried the fish pie and it was EXCELLENT, though perhaps prices were just a little high. I read some of the reviews that talked about surly staff but I didn't encounter anyone like that and I interacted with three or four people. I'd say give it a go.
Fascinating and perhaps often overlooked destination in London. The gardens have an incredible history as well as being a beautiful place. The tours are very informative and the gardens have lots of educational information. There is very nice (moderately pricey) cafe inside for lunch.
Lovely food but table service was unfortunately slow today. Still when we did get service & an apology for the wait, we enjoyed our food in a lovely outdoor setting. The fact it was sunny was a bonus.
