Visited Ombra with a few flat mates and I have to say they have a great friendly/family atmosphere, with some classic Italian dishes that I much enjoyed. What I enjoyed even more was that I got more food on my plate than I anticipated which is always a plus. Overall amazing experience.
I had a great pasta dish there followed by a perfect tirimasu. excellent italian cooking in a relaxed setting at prices that don't break the bank. washed down well with a campari spritz.
Bloody great properly Italian food and location love this place!
The cocktails were very nice and the lobster pasta delicious.

I met a friend for a quick lunch and the place was so good we stayed for two hours! The service was friendly and relaxed with a good atmosphere, perfect sunny outdoor area and great food. We opted for the lunch deal, pasta and a glass of wine for £12 = BARGAIN. My Bigoli al ragu was super tasty and would have been enough but we just had to share a Tiramisu and didn't regret it. I'm already planning my next trip.
Amazing flavours!probably the best pasta dishes I've ever tasted. Had a really great night.
Amazing spritz, even more amazing food and great vibe! Staff is charming and there's a real Italian feel to it. Totally recommended x
Finally a place where you can feel like home.
Well done guys.
great food , friendly staff , proper espresso !!!
This is laid back dining done right. Tasty, tasty food and delicious wines. Bravi.
Tasty Italian fare in a friendly setting. Recommended for social gatherings, has a lovely atmosphere. The food is well presented and full of flavour. Delizioso!
Great Italian food and lovely people! Try spiritz cinar to drink and tagliata (meat) as main course. Tiramisu for dessert. Cozy interiors and good wine selection!
Inside, Ombra is filled with simple wooden second-hand furniture and glossy hot pink, blue and yellow tables by artist Russell Bamber and features an authentic Italian bar.
What a marvellous diner!
The food was so delicious, tasty and vanguard!
The staff is efficient, kind and selfless for the client.
The manager Ridoi is a great somelier! He is always ready to satisfy every client's request. The wine, which he advised, was fruity and special.
The chef Alberto proposes a vanguard Italian cuisine which the Italian tradition is highly evaluated through local ingredients.
The music is also impressive and the bar tenders are qualified and smart!
The restaurant could offer a special atmosphere for a lovely date!
Amazing meal. Sat in the sun in the garden and enjoyed the most beautiful burrata dish. Felt like a perfect summer moment. The chef Alberto is incredibly talented and the menu features some really special dishes. Great technique and ingredients. Definitely worth a visit!
I'm shocked how many low reviews this place has. It was like I went to a completely different restaurant. Typically, there's some truth to the negative reviews, but my experience didn't reflect that at all.
Food wise, I agree the portions are relatively small, but I thought it was fairly priced for the size and quality. We ordered a few starters including their burrata and their mackerel tartare. My favorite was the tartare - fresh fish complimented by great greens. For mains, we got 2 pastas. We were still a bit hungry, so we ordered another pasta. I was so stuffed, but the table next to us got the tiramisu and it looked delicious. It WAS delicious. It was different than most tiramisus I've had. This one was light, fluffy, and had the perfect amount of coffee flavor.
Service wise, our waitress was hilarious! She was knowledgeable about wines (and recommended us a great bottle), and was friendly all evening.
Atmosphere, it was a trendy small spot with a few tables. Quiet enough to chat, but loud enough to feel like we weren't alone.
Overall, a great experience.
Went here for the £10 lunch deal, pasta and soft drink/coffee. The pasta was decent, next I would probably go for a pasta with a cream base than a tomato base. For the drink, if non alcoholic, I would recommend the Cedrata Baladin.
If you go here you have to try the Tiramisu for dessert, it was probably the best one I have ever tasted and was perfectly balanced. The staff were very friendly and service was quick.
Came for lunch and quite impressed with an authentic Italian restaurant in East London by the canal area. The starters were greatly tasted - scallops were refreshing and cuttlefish with Black ink sauce. The pastas were alright particularly the tonnarelle which taste like spaghetti. Freshly cooked! Each dish comes separately making a long lunch! Overall I think it’s nice place to eat in for sure for some authentic Italian dish.
Don’t be put off by appearances from the outside as we have been. This is literally the closest restaurant to my house, and a couple of years ago I sat outside on a grey day for a beer by the side of the road - pretty miserable experience and never went back.
Until last week, when my partner and I popped in for dinner. How we have been missing out!!
From the moment you step in the decor / music / atmosphere is so warm and welcoming (how can you not love anywhere with a poster of Nelson Mandela struggling to choose between red and white wine because he doesn’t see colour????).
Staff were friendly with excellent music at just the right volume.
And the food was incredible.
Focaccia, Pardon peppers and Burrata with peach to start. Followed by tagliatelle with Gorgonzola, then some other pasta with White truffles finished off with a mountainous tiramisu - like some love child of a cloud and a cappuccino. Unbelievable.
Will 100% be back.
What a special spot in London! The calibre of food, service and setting are utterly brilliant. I shared a meal with two special friends and kept getting distracted from our conversation by Ombra's magnificent food. Plate after plate, my palette was mesmerized. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to absolutely everyone.
Fresh hand made pasta is out of this world! Every dish is carefully prepared with love.
Smoked eel was amazing! It’s one of my favourite dishes.
I loved Orange wine. It went well with mushroom pasta.
Tiramisu is SO good!
The menu is concise but with options for all tastes. The quality of the pasta and the ingredients is very good. The focaccia was amazing.
Everyone that's part of Ombra contributes to making this one of my favorite restaurants in London. We went for the first time last night after walking by it on my daily commute, and it was completely outstanding from start to finish. From three types of spritzes to choose from, to the freshest pasta dishes and a variety of beautiful Italian creations in between, the food was bar none a perfect balance of quality, quantity, and timelessness and uniqueness. But then on top of the food being great, the staff was so sweet and accommodating! They really made the experience memorable and I can recommend everyone try this place at least once. See you again sooooon!!
Kieran, Simone and Stefan took spectacular care of us! We had all three pastas on the menu. Each was so well judged. The monkfish and Denver steak were each cooked perfectly… barely done, and full of their own innate flavour.
Great dinner! Went for a date with my gf, good atmosphere, cosy and warm and the food adds that touch of Italian quality that is hard to find elsewhere... friendly staff that assists you at a very good pace throughout this experience. Definitely going back soon.
One of London's bests kept secrets, everything about this place is amazing, the food, the staff the atmosphere.
As a solo diner Red is a superstar, he guided me through the Menu and gave me the most amazing experience.
If I lived local, I'd come here to avoid the wife's cooking
Fantastic Saturday lunch here - we had the gnocco, artichoke and vongole to share. Everything was light and delicious. Perfect to soak up after a heavy Friday night! Good selection of aperitifs (not that easy to find Cynar in London) and amaros for dessert. Service was lovely. Faultless really!
We ate at Ombra last night and it was excellent! The food and wine was outstanding but it was the service that set the place apart. A really friendly welcome and great recommendations all through the night. The music was spot on as well.
We had a delicious long lunch here and it was excellent.
We had a lovely seat overlooking the canal which was gorgeous, and the waiter was really sweet asking us if we’d like a heater which he brought out for us.
The food was absolutely delicious. I’d come back again just to have the gnocco fritto with mortadella which was so good. Everything else was also really tasty too, and the smell of the cooking while we were sitting outside was wonderful.
The service was also great - we asked about ingredient information and for recommendations and the waiter was very helpful and friendly.
It’s not cheap but we felt it was really worth it and will be back another time.
Great place if you want to have dinner or even just a drink. Food is delicious, wine is awesome, and the staff is amazing.
If you want to have a dinner or just a drink in East London, Ombra is the place to go to. A special thank to Nerina for her exceptional service.
Did a 30th Birthday long lunch for a table of 10 with the set menu. Food was excellent. Vibe was lovely at the outdoor table/bench. Everyone enjoyed themselves and was very impressed. So pleased!! Thanks Ombra.
The food was of very high quality and the service attentive and friendly. Would definitely come back to try more of their pasta! It wasn’t overly busy on Sunday (lunchtime) and there is decent spacing b/n tables. Relaxed vibe.
