This theatre is one of London's hidden gems. The theatre stage some of the best thought provoking emotional plays I've witnessed. And at a cost that far betters those of West End theatres. The staff are super friendly and hospitable. I highly recommend you check out the selection of plays and attend. You won't be sorry.

A fantastic pub with a great ambiance and great food. It was a tad noisy, but that was because of the fact there was a play on in the theatre. I would highly recommend this pub to anyone in the area.

Great pub and the theatre is amazing. They put on fantastic productions. Very worth while a visit. Remember to give the theatre some cash as they have to fund everything themselves. The actors actually get paid too

Great place to be, if you like a music-concert or watch a play in the theatre. Or just have a drink at the bar, in a "warm brown" atmosphere. It's not a big place, but the positive thing about that is that you are more "connected" with the band/singers or actors performing, and not sitting for instance, 100 metres away. Anyway, I had a great time there when I was in London.

The cheese board after a show was to die for! The quality's excellent, and varied, and they don't skimp on the amounts; generous quantities, thick slices, with plenty of olives, pesto, toasted breads; the works. I was expecting something more basic and got something that put the icing on the cake after a brilliant show in the theatre. Great range of drinks and excellent staff too. I thoroughly recommend!

Great venue - came here to see King Tut, which was hilarious. The theatre has tonnes of character, the size of the venue means that there's not a bad seat and the pub doesn't charge you the earth for a drink. I was really impressed - looking forward to the next visit.

Had a great evening seeing Coming Clean and the Trouble with Men. Can't wait for my next double booking in in September. It's always worth coming up to London for this venue.

Really loved last night's performance of the 'Diary of a Nobody'. Great comic timing by the four very talented actors playing a huge range of characters and genders and battling valiantly with the few handmade but wilful props and a rather sleepy cat. Top notch entertainment!

Went to see Villain written by Martin Murphy. Amazing monologue, brilliantly performed by Maddie Rice, full of tension, broken by dry dark humour.

A lively, busy Islington pub. Ive mever been in here when it hasn't been busy!
Can be hard to get a seat in here.
Perfect for a pre-dinner drink.

Went there for a quick drink before dinner with friends. Tried their gin and tonic, they served me elderflower tonic water which seems hard to find anywhere else. They had free mic on Monday nights, although we were too busy chatting with each other to enjoy the music. They had a picture of the queen serving beer on their wall! Thoroughly enjoyed it there.

One of the livelier pubs in Islington, the atmosphere of the King's Head is so great that it spills out into the streets of an evening. The prices of drinks are what you expect of a pub in Islington (around £4 for spirits).

The interior has a classic pub decor yet stylistically so, with tables stretching across the edges of the place with stalls at the bar. People spill out of the pub for a reason though, as when it gets busy it's like a mission to try and get a seat.

The Kings Head is one of my favourite pubs on Upper Street. I particularly like it on a Sunday as it seems to be the only place in the area that is still buzzing by the evening. Drinkers spill out onto the street meaning that you cannot miss the place, and you can hear music from the live band playing inside. The decor gives it the feel of a proper old fashioned pub, quite a rarity in Islington which is a haven for trendy gastro pubs. It’s also reasonably priced for Upper Street as you can get a small glass of white wine for just £3.65.

It also houses a small theatre at the back which is acclaimed enough to put on lots of performances that are really worth seeing.

I never had the food there but this is a buzzing place that is often full of music fans. Almost every night there is live music and the bands are good. The atmosphere is joyful and fun. I often walk buy I can not resist going in for a sneaky pint and some good music. I brought my friends over and they enjoyed it as well. This is a good place to go to have some good music and a beer with some friends.

Went to see the play 'Scream Queer Murder' here with a party of 6 on Friday evening. I have visited the KHT many times in the past, but unfortunately the theatre part is now on its last run. Happily, a new venue is being created nearby! The pub is usually packed, and attracts a lovely crowd. There is a good selection of drinks, and the staff are friendly and efficient. Recommended.

I booked for a pretty big group of people for a get together here, seemed like a nice quirky pub so worth a visit. Just to note this pub is NOT child friendly, my friend brought his baby in and was very firmly (borderline rudely) told to get out. I’d spent ages organising getting everyone together so then had to ring around other pubs in the area last minute trying to find another pub that was child friendly- would be good if this was clearly stated on the website/google information and would have been saved a lot of trouble.

Cozy little pub, with really cool vintage atmosphere, had few drinks and learned more about it as Steven was so keen and told us everything about it. Overall great night. Will be back for sure.

The theatre was brilliant. Such a good space to perform and a fantastic show. Drinks looked quite pricy, I suppose it is a fancy area.

Great to be back seeing live theatre again! The current show, the award-winning No Strings Attached, is actually not at the King's Head Theatre Pub but 2mins up the street at a new site-specific pop-up venue The Ignition Room within the Islington Square development. The show's thought provoking and runs until 19-Jun, catch it while you can!

First up, brilliant people behind the bar. Great beer and a great atmosphere. Theatre pictures all over the walls. The place is fantastic. Again, made by the terrific people behind the bar. Thank you

The interior and the atmosphere are incredible. It's fun, bohemian and cozy at the same time. A gorgeous dog was welcoming us, I don't know if it's a custom, but meeting him (or her?) was also a pleasure

I visit the Kings Head Theatre regularly and am never disappointed. The work they do is exceptional, admirable and most importantly entertaining. Staff are also very friendly and attentive. Last night I saw the opera Carmen which gets 5 stars from me! Looking forward to seeing their next opera in only a few weeks time!

I absolutely love going here! First off this is a proper theatre even though it's behind a pub. They host some really cool shows here. Given the size it is intimate but it adds to the experience of the show and all the shows adapt so well to it, that you cannot imagine it being performed anywhere else. They do shows for kids too, and serve generally 11 flavours of ice-cream 😀. For the price of the ticket this is just amazing. Also if you don't fancy pub food there are so many food places around here that you can make a afternoon or night out of this so easily!

After so much gentrification, I naturally seek those old school-style boozers which are quickly disappearing. At the King's Head pub on Upper Street, which is only a few minutes walk from Angel/Highbury & Islington station, I am so happy to have found one. Even before I stepped inside, the noticed the handsome exterior with its dark marble facade, pillars, and old-style letterings announcing the pub to passersby. Once I stepped inside, I noticed how cosy it was. The inviting bar dominates the centre room, the wooden floor creaks beneath you, and posters of old movies and movie stars adorn the walls. It's a proper old school pub. It may not be for the cool kids on the block, but for me, being quite a traditionalist, I really dig it. It's more than just a pub. It's a theatre too. And it's perfect for fringe theatre productions which in my opinion are hilarious and just as good as any major West-End productions. This is the perfect stage for budding actors and actresses to showcase what they can do. It's small, but seats fill up pretty quickly. The King's Head's Theatre pub is really unique and you'd be hard-pressed to think of another pub like it. If you're in the area, pop by for a drink, and see if a show if you can. The pub is perfect for those cold, wintery months.

This place is amazing, the bar manager was awesome, we went for a night cap at Xmas and got offered free chocolates, 5mins after leaving a tap on my friends shoulder revealed the bar manager with my friends bag which she had left in the pub, what an amazing person. We would definitely go again and also will try the theatre.

Came to see a show, the bar gets busy (which is really great for the pub) before the show but as it's so big they can accommodate. It's a really cool space for alt/fringe/emerging theatre. Bench seating which is clean, comfortable and nicely spaced for you to see all the action.

Small theatre at the back of the pub, I'll guess around 100 capacity with bench seating but you are sat right with the actors. Outside is a old fashioned pub with good selection of drinks, mostly folks drinking will be attending a play so can be hard to get a table. Nearest tube is Angel and then about 10 minutes walk away.

Came here for the second time in two years for the annual "Panto(mine)" holiday show. Super funny, lively and a healthy dose of audience involvement. One of the best theater experiences I've found in New York or London
