Amazing. Fantastic service. The salt beef, pastrami and ox tongue were all amazing. Highly recommend.
I haven't been for several years mostly because it deteriorated quite dramatically. I'm pleased to say it has improved greatly, the staff were wonderful, the new decor has brightened the whole place up and I will most definitely be returning, even if it's just to pick up some more chopped liver
What a fool am I, having a restaurant two streets away from where I live and I've never popped in to try their food. So glad it was cold yesterday and I decided to go for a meal with a friend that was nearby. Fabulous food, lovely staff and a great ambience. DEFINITELY will be returning and half the price of the restaurants I've frequented in the past and authentic, tasty food.
Possibly my favourite Café. Unfortunately last time I was there my companion, whilst trying to demonstrate how General J Stonewall Jackson in the American Civil War (who`s blood circulation was poor) used to counterbalance himself on his horse, unwittingly mimicked a Nazi salute (he had no idea). I died on the spot.
First impression when you come is that it's a really clean restaurant. Staff are helpful . I had salted beef which was delicious and my husband had goulash, which was delicious too. They have a nice kids menu. The only downside for us is that they don't have many great vegan dishes for my older son.
Great service, good food. If you like a deli, NY style, this will do
Thought the food and service was excellent
And very well presented.
The best Reuben in London. Their pastrami is the absolute business and the cheesecake? Omilord.
This place reminds me of a deli in NYC! On the menu your classic Eastern European dishes including potato latki and salty beef.
Very busy restaurant at all times. Food is good but service is slow and confusing. Definite a place to try if you are in the area but wouldn't do a special trip for it.
Very American, very normal yet very welcoming and with lots of comfort food available. Very easy on the palate, the wallet and good people as well.
Signature dish would be the mixed chicken soup. Meat isn't kosher. It is kosher style.
It might be 30 years ago.... The salt beef, latkas and braised celery was brilliant when my father in law had a photo studio around the corner from Harry Morgans. They also had lokshen pudding to die for.
We'll be going back to check it out soon.
We hope its as good as it was.
Gluten-free Since'93
+4.5
Henry Morgans has everything from great breakfast to delicious dinner. Despite the look of the place (quite average on the inside of the restaurant), the food is delightful and great quality.
If you belong to the group of people that went over to Grandma's house and had her chicken soup you will love this place. Whenever I feel a little homesick, I also come to this restaurant for their Chicken Noodle Soup with some carrots inside. You can have it with different things, like sliced pancakes, some meatballs, dumplings and pieces of chicken. A large soup is enough to fill you up, and is a great and light lunch.
If you are a little bit more hungry, or do not like soups, you need to get the Hungarian Goulash and rice as it is an amazing dish. The beef is very delicate and breaks in your mouth as you eat it. A must have along with the chicken soup!
Another great dish is the chicken schnitzel, which is tender and very tasty.
Unfortunately all the dishes that I wrote about contain gluten, which I only realised after eating there a couple of times. If you want to break your gluten-free diet, or you're not on it, you have to go to this place and taste their dishes.
One of the best New York style deli in town. For starters you can opt for the traditional chicken soup and follow it up with a salt beef sandwich.
Their deserts are delightful minus the icing the carrot cake was near perfect and the blueberry cheese almost on par.
Around busier time the service can be a little sub par but overall still a very nice establishment.
Harry Morgan was the first place I ever had Jewish food from in London. That was from their outlet inside Fenwick at Brent Cross which is now sadly closed.
This is their St John’s Wood outlet from which I have often had their BREAKFAST SPECIALS in the morning and SCHNITZEL or GOULASH at meal times. What I can have at all times is their CHICKEN KNEIDLACH or the matzo ball soup --- supremely and uniquely flavourful broth in which sit the matzo balls which is basically a large dumpling made from a ground traditional bread aka the matzo meal, combined with eggs & fat/oil. The matzo balls remind me of Kashimiri rista/gustaba dumplings in appearance. It is comfort food par excellence --- totally a chicken soup for the soul!
They have a SANDWICH which combines the goodness of schnitzel with hummus – two of my favourite things – with the addition of a tangy pickle, it has been a staple for some time now.
Lastly, I simply love their HALOUMI SALAD – garden fresh veggies like cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers, onions, green beans all tossed in mustardy vinaigrette along with the grilled haloumi cheese – a meal in itself.
I love the black, cream, dark maroon colour palette of the interiors as it overlooks the high street on St John’s Wood. Do drop in if you are in the neighbourhood.
This Jewish deli is a North London institution, with a more relaxed takeaway area and a sit down restaurant in the same building. The restaurant area is always buzzing, with a crowd of wealthy North Londoners always dining out on its fine selection of breakfast and lunch options. The salt beef sandwich is one of the best I've sampled - at over £10 its pricey but definitely worth it. A great place to grab a bite.
Great place on St John’s Wood High Street. Delicious food, everything I have tried has tasted amazing. My partner had the chicken soup... Probably the best I have ever tasted and amazingly good value. Lively American diner style place, so not exactly date night, but lots of fun. Will definitely be back again and again.
So pleased with my visit at Harry Morgan...
Everything I’ve ordered tasted so delicious. Comfort food, lovely atmosphere, great portions in every dishes. I don’t use to have a dessert after my meals, but I had to give it a go, cause everything just look so tasty and definitely was my best decision!
I’ll be back for sure!
Very great food. The soup was amazing as was the salt beef
Great food. Sundays be prepared to wait as it's really crowded.
Had the salt beef bagel to takeaway (during lockdown). A tasty old favourite 😋👍🏼
Unfortunately I couldn’t wait to post so started eating before writing a review, but will next time! Chicken Schnitzel, Potato something, sauerkraut tomato cucumber!!!!!...... Oh my oh my oh my!!
Very nice place, fulfilling. The portions can be a bit bigger than usual, but very tasty. Soups really recommended, always have them. Pancakes are the best in the area. Service can be a bit slow or moody, but the cost and quality covers that.
This was one of the most wonderful restaurants .fantastic food and service .highly recommend.
We had the jumbo hot dog and peppered pastrami bagel for lunch with hot chocolate, whipped cream and marshmallows to drink. The meat was prepared perfectly and served in generous portions. The bun for the hot dog was soft, warm and delicious. The bagel was firm, slightly sweet and freshly baked. Definitely worth a visit.
I had the chicken soup with everything to start, but strangely there were no noodles so maybe the waiter misunderstood me. The salt beef that followed was tasty, tender but a little dry - I had the half-platter which was ample, so they're not stingy. For me, the highlight was the potato latkes - these were the best that I've ever had. And the new green cucumbers were excellent, firm and with a kick - just how I like them. I would definitely go again.
I was really looking forward to my visit here for some mixed Chicken Soup and boy was I not disappointed. I was looking at negative reviews and can't understand where they came from, the staff were super friendly in my book, the soup was delicious and kreplach good and if I'm eating with my eyes the food i stared down coming from the kitchen looked incredible compared too. Mate had the mac and cheese and strudel which was good and for me, most important part- great coffee and good ice cream! Thanks a lot.
Came here with my father for lunch. The salt beef sandwich was very good, the service was excellent and we both enjoyed the atmosphere. A little pricey for what it is, but would like to return for brunch one day.
