Best curry in london exterior really doesn't do the food justice, all staff are really friendly been coming for year and will be going for years to come
Small Indian restaruant in the Chelsea neighbourhood. We randomly found it and decided to stop there to try something new. The menu offer different chicken and lamb dishes, as well as vegetables and typical side dishes such as rice and nan. We tried tikka masala and tandoori masala, both had an interesting sweet note. The nan was really good, I also loved the spinach and potato dish. In general the food was really good but the atmosphere and service could be improved. The prices are a bit high in my opinion.
Ottimo e tranquillo ristorante indiano. Il cibo è molto buono, il servizio può essere migliorato
What a great find on our trip to visit London! We were staying nearby and thought so highly of the food and the service, we came back the next night. Naz was so kind and very accommodating. Paid great attention to anything we needed and more. Today we started with the Mix Starters with every bit of it full of flavor. We also had some papadum with a mix of sauces. It was so simple yet so delicious! For entires, we got the chicken vindaloo and chicken green masala. Both highly recommend!
Thank you for the wonderful time, food and service.
Late leaving this review - we visited in September with overseas guests who's first experience of Indian cuisine was at this restaurant. The staff were very patient and attentive in explaining the menu to my guests and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. Our waiter had a great sense of humour and was very kind - thanks so much for the great experience!
Very pleasant Indian restaurant with reasonable prices for the Sloane Square area. It's ordinary, but sometimes that's what you want in an Indian restaurant—reliable, tasty, you know what you are getting. Staff were particularly attentive on our visit and we noticed how helpful they were to those inexperienced with Indian food. There also appeared to be some regular customers from the local area who were dining here, which is a good sign. The atmosphere was very nice once it started to fill up (around 7pm on a Saturday evening). Will happily come here again.
We were visiting the UK from Australia and wanted to grab an Indian meal, and this is apparently one of the oldest continuously running restaurants in the city.
The food was great, service was excellent and they were able to prepare most dishes gluten free. Definitely worth a visit
I was so happy to find this place. It is so cute inside, it’s in a wonderful neighborhood, the food is amazing, and the staff is so friendly, and the other patrons were so nice, too. Overall good vibe and experience. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in London.
This was my first time visiting the Great India after hearing high praise about its fabulous food and excellent service from my older family members. This is a family run restaurant that has been around since 1958. The interior is very nicely laid out, with elegant tables. It has a private but sophisticated feel as there is a small number of tables and you often have to book in advance. Luckily we managed to walk-in and get a table for 4 when it was not too busy. The gentleman who waited on us the entirety of our time was called Milan. He was very poised and hospitable. Amongst the 4 of us, we ordered a range of vegetarian and meat dishes. I recommend paying to have the Poppadoms and Chutneys as they were excellent and a great way to whet the palate before your main meal. Their mango chutney was outstanding and very addictive! For my dinner I had Mushroom Rice which was flavourful and savory. It's a perfect portion too, just the right amount for a substantial meal. To accompany it I ordered a Mutter Paneer side dish which is very mild and quite sweet, so I would recommend getting it with added spice if you order it. For dessert I ordered a Coconut Supreme which was an exceptional closing stanza to my meal; it's a fantastic Coconut ice cream with coconut shavings inside and all beautifully presented in a real coconut shell! Great India is situated in the high-end area of Sloane Square/Street so their quality matches the presupposesd expectation of institutions in the area as well as their amicable hospitality. If you decide to order a starter, main, rice and dessert and drink it'll be £40-£50 per head depending on what you order. Ordering just a main + rice + drink for roughly £25 per head is more than enough to satisfy as their portion sizes are good and their dishes are as authentic as I've tasted. It's definitely a place I'd recommend for a relaxed yet memorable dinner out.
We had a fantastic dining experience at this Indian restaurant. The food was incredibly delicious and tasted authentic. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and our server, Naz, was not only nice but also very attentive. We had a lovely time, and wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.
Best service, best food, best ambiance
Thank you for Naz for giving us the the best dinner experience
We were there 8 years ago and had lime pickles for the first time and loved them. The owner even ran after us to give us some to take home. Back in UK last week and we were thrilled to find them still open after Covid. The food was delicious and the staff helpful and gracious!
