The George - London - Photo album

My second visit, and not as full of students as it was last time. The festival ales were top notch. I loved the Titanic Cherry Porter! I also had a ham & mushroom pizza which to be honest was probably the best Wetherspoons pizza I’ve had so far.
Formerly the “George Hotel” rebuilt in 1903 : Respectable Edwardian “public house” with typical dark wood panelling, gloomy sober ‘n sombre decorative touches - oodles of space, nooks and crannies Scrupulously maintained to a good standard, the quirky interior celebrating local history, characters a
You can eat and drink cheaper than other similar places and you can enjoy the traditional pubs atmosphere 😉
Pleasant atmosphere friendly community environment…. I’ve been asked if I was part of the tennis club and Wanstead youth group, today I’m very popular. Only having a pint today as eaten before coming out. An interesting pup on two levels with typical Wetherspoon local historical facts on offer. Sp
A great pub plenty of room and an upstairs too, outside seating plus a fair size beer garden at the back prices cheaper than the majority of of other pubs.
A magnificent Edwardian building built in 1903 to replace the George and Dragon that had been there for quite some time. Lots of room with tables out the front and another bar upstairs. The staff were friendly and the inside has loads of character with little nooks and crannies. Beautiful place and
Great comfy, tidy Wetherspoons, food was nice, service okay & our time there (3 hours) was great, nice atmosphere throughout. Like most other things in life lately, food portions have shrunk to embarrassing levels, the large breakfast used to be something to look forward to & was filling, now it's
Across the road from Wanstead tube station (Central Line). The road is the busy A12, but there is a pedestrian crossing near the entrance to the tube station. The pub building is of interest, with Corinthian style columns and stained glass windows. Toilets are on the ground floor, for a 'Spoons t
Drink in the George a couple of days a week and it had really gone down hill. However yesterday the whole place was cleaner, more efficient and the shift supervisor/ manager who served us was polite and professional. Hope it stays that way 👍
Quite good food at a reasonable price. Generally good service and a rolling program of different beers at very low prices.
Best bar prices in the area (as usual for Wetherspoons). A large bar with a homely atmosphere. The service here was slow, bordering on glacial, on my several late afternoon/early evening visits. The staff don’t seem to be imbued with any sense of urgency. Indeed some of the staff resembled, in thi
Eggs Benedict is usually excellent in spoons, however this didn't quite hit the spot. Small amount of rocket, a bit passed its best and a muffin that could have been fresher.
Good atmosphere, good choice of drinks. The food I ordered tasted nice, especially the salad which was fresh. Best place to be before going to see the football.
Part of the Weatherspoon chain. This is a reliable place. Loads of places to sit with a good offer selection of food. There is parking available and is conveniently located opposite Wanstead tube. Popular with families so does get busy as people try and make their food order with unusual amendments.
Spacious, great food for adults and kids, and not expensive. Warm and friendly.
