The Bull in Islington is a good little boozer. Not to shabby at all amongst your high street chain bars and no end of restaurants. Whilst on the high street, it has a local feel to it. Loads of speciality beers are on offer here as well as some good entertainment with DJ's, quiz nights and what not. Good for a wee drink before heading to a nearby late night venue or they do a good Sunday Roast I am told. I went for an after work drink with some estate agents. The pub is very welcoming of suited and booted, as well as casual folk. Enjoy.
Bustling pub at the weekends and has live music - prices are average and atmosphere is good. Haven't had the chance to eat here yet but would be keen to try.
For me there is nothing better than going to a pub on a Sunday and having a few pints and a great Sunday roast. For me it's part of being English. Nearly every Sunday for the first 22 years of my life, (until I started travelling) I always had a roast on a Sunday. Well 99% of the time anyhows. It's one of the things that I miss when I am travelling in other parts of the world. Although it's not something I would have abroad. "As when in Rome." But when I am here in England, it's something that I want. It's a reminder of days gone past. I have good memories spending Sundays with my family sitting around the table, eating, and talking. My Nan used to bring over (most weeks) pudding. Her rhubarb crumble is still the best I have ever eaten. I used to always order it in restaurants, but they were never as good as my Nans. So I stopped. So a Sunday Roast is natural for me, and many other people, like an Argentine Asado. It brings people together. It's something I missed in Colombia. We cooke
My mission in London, was to find out if there is a market for Cheapeats and if in fact, I could find some. I got a tip from a local, who told me to head to Islington, which is in North London. I'm game for an adventure, so I hop on the tube and head north. Islington is quick ride on the Victoria line. In fact, it's only about a 30 minute walk from Covent Garden. A quaint area, with cafes and boutiques. While strolling along Upper Street, I realize I've struck the mother load. There are Cheapeats everywhere!!!! Le Mercury is a causal French restaurant with AMAZING prices. You can get a 3 course meal which includes a starter, entree and dessert £14.85 ($24US) Now that's a bargain. The Bull is a classic English pub that is warm, cozy and inviting. Check out their 2 course prix fixe for £9.50 ($15.03US) or 3 courses for £12.00 ($19.00US) O'Neill's - If you head this pub Thursday eves, you can get an entree of grilled meat and a pint £7.99 ($12.63US) Citrus - Can you believe these deal
I really like coming to the bull in the afternoon for tea or in the evening for a drink. This is a great place to come and sit with friends. The bull is perfectly located at the corner of Theberton street and has big open windows so you can comfortably stand outside. The restaurant has high ceilings and lots of space to stand or sit and so it becomes really full on weekends. They have a good selection of beers and ciders and they also serve some good smaller dishes to have with your drinks.
The service isn't great because they don't have that many people working here and so you have to go to the bar yourself, however the staff is mostly friendly and helpful.
A classic pub with good food. The difference of this place is the staff. A young group of Irish guys will serve you and put a great atmosphere in this place. I had a good moment talking with them and laughing around. It is a cosy and clean place with a great staff. What else do you need? I had the snack for share at £11 which makes a very decent price and sufficient in quantity to have a good chat with a few pints.
Great service and very good quality food.
Bit disappointing they'd run out of roast but that happens a lot by late afternoon in London on Sundays.
All dishes were presented nicely and the cheeseburger was cooked well with good flavour to it.
Our table we reserved hadn't been wiped but otherwise no complaints.
The whole team, but in particular Jose and Lola, were BRILLIANT - they really went above and beyond, and made our surprise party truly excellent. They were great fun, so helpful, super attentive and just generally fab. Good was tasty and the wine even tastier. Some of the best service we’ve ever experienced in London. They couldn’t have done more to make us feel taken care of - thank you so much!
Good portion size with nice root vegetable selection. Recommend the beef roast, I'll be back soon!
We had the nachos, cheeseburger, and chicken pot pie, all were wonderful! Best cheeseburger my husband has had this year. The sourdough bread was a bit tough. Good selection of beers and cider, on tap and by the bottle. Seasonally decorated (we were there at Halloween).
Staff were friendly.
Service was great. The lady serving us upstairs was really nice.
Food was delicious.
My only criticism was that the roast potatoes were not very nice. Like they were cooked, went cold and then warmed in a microwave, but don't let that put you off.
We checked this place out a few days ago, and the place is fantastic , cozy and trendy!
The customer service was beyond, they were brilliant! What a fantastic team of professionals!
The food was quality , deff 5 stars!
I loved it
Decent Sunday roast beef. Good flavours, beef was tender and portions were good with roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, cabbage and Yorkshire pud. We went at 12:30 on Sunday as a walk in for two, practically all the tables were reserved (but one!), so best to book in advance. The bar staff were nice and friendly.
This is a very artsy, vibrant, colorful, cozy & soulful pub I have been to so far. They have interesting & fun bar activities all week round to take part in as you enjoy your drink. Top service by my G Hakim at the bar 🙏 he will def hook you up with a drink of your choice with a big smile. Must visit pub in Islington London. Scrap 5Start! 100 Stars Rating by me.
I booked the snug area for my birthday. The place and decoration was really nice and we could give them a playlist. Jose was very helpful in arranging everything. Would definetely recommend!
My girlfriend and I were served by Sylvana on my birthday and she was amazing. Super friendly; very casual and she was sadly way cooler than me. And she went above and beyond to make my birthday special. I really enjoyed my experience at the bull. All the staff were lovely. Thank you guys for such a great time!
