Absolutely only felt good and lovely service đ
Loong Kee has a wide ranging menu of Vietnamese dishes but the particular draw card for our visit was their famed bahn cuon rolls. We had a plate of pork rolls which came steamed and with the traditional dipping sauces and tasted great. Service is polite and quick, and they allow BYOB for beers and wine which is a nice surprise among London's busier restaurants. While the decor is somewhat lacklustre, the quality of the food and convenient location more than make up for it. SpicyRamekin
We were extremely satisfied after this meal, it had well and truly scratched our Vietnamese itch. For the amount of food we ate and the quality of every dish, we think this place is a real gem. Yes itâs not fine dining, but that doesnât mean it isnât any good. This is a prime example of substance winning over style. On the Vietnamese strip, it seems the more basic the restaurant, the more authentic the food. Donât you agree?
We always seem to stick to the same few restaurants along the Pho Mile that I thought it was time we tried the rest and first off was Loong Kee. The sparse surroundings of the restaurant and the very few people dining on this cold wet Sunday afternoon did not fill us with glee. As the rain lashed down and the wind was whipping the front door open we needed warming up and pretty bloody quickly. So very quickly a bowl of Pho Bo and Bun Bo Hue were ordered with a starter of fried rolls. Well it was too cold to have summer rolls. Iâd heard that the service here was a little below par and disinterested. We must have been lucky as we were served with a smile even when he was checking his mobile very few minutes. The fried rolls were light and crispy, nice filling of prawns, the dip was a bit wishy washy, your normal shop brought mass product spring roll sauce. But the rolls inserted some well needed warmth into our weary cold bones. The Phoâs wer
Loong Kee is actually one of my preferred restaurants on the Kingsland Road strip. It is a BYO and really good value. Â I normally order the Bahn Cuon or steamed rice rolls with pork. It's a really good dish, and Loong Kee the only place that does them on the strip.
We would normally order asian style--several dishes which are shared by the whole table. However, tonight I just stopped in for a quick midweek meal, accompanied by a diner with a very unadventurous palate. So our order was less exciting than usual. I had chargrilled goat bun and green papaya salad. My companion had stir fried chicken and vegetables on rice. The chicken and rice dish was surprisingly nice. Not fried rice, but a basic stir fry with chicken breast, carrot, celery, pak choi, and straw mushrooms served over plain rice. Papaya salad was pleasant with a light dusting of crushed peanuts, but less pungently herbal than I normally like it. The main herb was coriander, and could have benefited from more of it, or the addition of some mint. Goat bun was more to my liking with a strong distinctive aromatic note of perilla leaf.
Nonetheless great place for a quick midweek meal. Dinner for two with a shared starter came to only £21.10 and we brought a bottle of wine from home.

Our Sunday mornings usually start with a trip to Kingsland road, as Vietnamese food is said to cure unusual dehydration and hunger. While everyone recommends Song Que CafĂ©, we insist that you walk an extra 30 seconds to Long Kee CafĂ© as itâs way better. Before ordering your usual PhĂČ, we suggest you start off your meal with the minced pork steamed rolls. You wonât regret it.
A cheap and easy feed. Amazing pho and rice paper rolls at a mor than afford ale price. The ability to BYO drinks makes for a great location for large groups. Food is quick, tasty and light. I have been back numerous times and highly recommend it if you're in the mood for decent Vietnamese.
Loong Kee can be found at the periphery of Shoreditch. It is a bring- your-own-booze fusion restaurant, ideal for big groups of people.
Long Kee is very good in that it has large tables, no real reservation system in place and an even larger underground dining room for the big parties.
The food at Long Kee is overall pretty good. However, I would not go as far as saying everything on the menu will blow your mind away. My personal favorite is the shaking beef. Beef alongside multiple vegetables with a soja sauce base. Mix this with a good portion of rice (fried rice is excellent) and you have got yourself a solid dish.
It goes more or less without saying that Loong Kee great advantage is the value you get from the food. Indeed, this restaurant is undoubtedly on the cheap side. The fact you can bring your own alcohol makes this all the more true (i.e. cheaper!).
Negatives about Loong Kee are scarce in my opinion. Again, do not expect anything too fancy. Loong Kee is there as a cheap and easy Asian option in Shoreditch.
It shouldn't disappoint.
Enjoy!
I really enjoyed the food here, great taste and presentation, spices were mixed nicely, we actually got greedy and ordered 1 starter and 4 mains, but was well worth it. The only downside to this place was the noise easily bounces around so you can't hear what each other is saying from time to time. Service was great, right amount of attention and pleasant to talk to
It was super sunny Saturday evening and every single restaurants had a queue except here. I guess it locates kind of the end of restaurant Street and people just donât see it! We ordered Phos and prawn spring rolls which were all so tasty!!! Pho came in a massive bowl and it makes you full. Spring roll wasnât too oily, crispy and decent. Also I noticed the meat they use was a good quality not like typical typical Vietnamese restaurants I have been( no offence). Authentic and highly recommended.
Banh Cuon here is tasty and almost the same with the original Vietnamese taste. It would be better if thereâs some salad/vegetables and âcháșŁâ to eat with. I also tried Bun Bo Hue but the flavor was not really good. The price was all cheap. Overall the food was acceptable for the price.
Great food at reasonable prices. Service is great, with food coming to the table very quickly. It has a bar but BYOB is also welcome.
The Banh Cuon here is delicious! The pho is not bad either but definitely try the Banh Cuon. The wrap here is thinner than other restaurants and the filling is not dry and. This results in a soft (but al dente) and juicy Banh Cuon. The sauce is subtlely sweet and doesn't overpower the dish itself.
Great food at reasonable prices. Very quiet on a Sunday
Offers a lunch menu with one starter and one main for ÂŁ6 during week days. Food is of high quality.
Delicious banh cuon at a really good price! Could use a little more meat
Has since changed name to nom nom, and it's very good
Nice and affordable. Nothing fancy. Good range of authentic starters. Good for sharing. And there is a good amount of tables.
We ordered loads of separate dishes for the table and it was all faultless. Everything was highly flavoured and authentic, service was really quick and the price was low for the high quality we received. BYOB was nice (no corkage) but they had a selection of cheap drinks there as well. High notes were Hanoi fish and seafood pho đ
Love this place, it's always a bit loud but the food is amazing!
They are surely one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in London. I tried several of them in the same street and they were also good but Loong Kee is the best one based on my taste. Price is also good. But most importantly the taste is very good. I have been a kind of regular customer since my first visit in 2011. I brought many of my friends and all of them love here. Visit here!! and you will never regret. My favourite menu is Seafood Pho and Beef Pho.
I went there for my birthday with a bunch of friends and ate what was probably the best vegetarian Vietnamese food I have ever tasted. We had the mix selection of veg starters which was so good that we ordered seconds, the spring rolls were handmade and definitely not fried from frozen or store bought and the deep fried aubergine and tofu were crisp and flavoursome withput being heavy or soaked in oil. My meat eating friends had the meat and seafood based starters, which they also raved about. The veg soup was rather spiffing, with noodles that were cooked to perfection. My mates had a noodle salad with prawns and it was authentic (in their words) and smelled delish. The service was quick, the staff competent and kind, and the price fair. The decor unpretentious and comfortable, and the lighting soft, which proved both armospheric and flattering, not too dark that you can't see what you're eating but not so light that you feel that you are at the dentist. I can't recommend this place enough! 10 stars.
Amazing salt and pepper squid! Also roast duck with oyster sauce and prawns in coconut and lemongrass sauce were super good!
My second time here and quickly becoming my favourite Vietnamese place in this area!
I've been eating here for 10 years. In that time its changed a few times. Although it's not as cheap as it once was, it is a lot cleaner so you can't have everything I guess. The salt and pepper squid is great and still cheaper than most other places on kingland rd. And they have a 6 quid lunch menu which can't be beaten.
