I was in the neighborhood and was on my way to the bus stop when torrential rain happened and it was raining for a while. Popped in to Gail; and grab coffee and a pastry.. Staff are friendly and had a interesting conversation with one of the staff, that she never tried the almond chocolate croissant. It's a cute cafe with outdoor seating on the backside and right in front the bakery is a fire station. Sat there and enjoyed show when the firemen was practicing the fire alarm drill ..or whatever you want to call it. This cafe allowed dogs inside as well. Walking distance to tube station in 10min and various bus stops.

Good selection of baked goods and nice coffee. Always busy but service is generally quick and the staff are very friendly. It is pricey , especially if you’re sitting in. And there’s not a lot of seating choices. Perfect for picking up a coffee and a croissant!

Gail’s Baker in Clapham old town is our favourite. The staff are always welcoming, helpful and friendly. Over lock down there was a bit of a queue sometimes but it didn’t last long Abs was always worth the wait when you could pick up a fresh baked treat and a hot, or iced, coffee. We are longing for the return of their brunch menu, particularly the eggs and bacon on English muffins that are delicious. Until their return the Ham and cheese croissant or a French baguette are the winners!

Lovely spot for breakfast. I had the potato cakes with smoked salmon and it was lush! Not table service so you have to order at the counter and can't start a tab, but food came really quickly and was lovely and fresh and perfect portion size (not too big, but a very generous amount of salmon!). The place is small enough to be cosy, but very light and airy so doesn't feel cramped. We got there about 9:30 and there was plenty of seating but by the time we left it was definitely getting full (and we thought we should free up our seats, though we definitely weren't made to feel that way). There were lots of fresh, baked goods for sale too which all looked lush though today I resisted. I was very tempted by the cinnamon roll though which looked fluffy but with a crunch to the outside. Will definitely be going back!

Gail's bakery near the clapham common station was one of my favourite place to visit in the morning for a decent croissant and 3 shot iced black. It was just 15 minute walk from my place and I can get a bus to get to Vauxhall to go to work. I felt happy to find a great iced coffee in London, cause I was desperate to find one back then. Since then, this place widely spread in London has been my top 3 place to visit to get an iced coffee. Their hot coffees are great as well. it lives up to every standard of coffee lovers and the pastries and cakes are great as well. Local friendly. Outside seating is great as well in the nice weather. Extra charge added for getting a table. pay first , served later. when you have scone, ask them to have it toasted unless you want your scone served unheated just on a plate with nothing added but the already added service charge on your bill.

I always enjoy popping in on a Friday or Saturday morning to pick up a loaf of sourdough and an oat flat white. The staff are always just delightful and the place is beautiful. I think it’s worth the queue. Which always goes quickly. It can be hard to get a table on the weekend but if you’ve got time to wait it’s perfect after a spin/gym/park run. The baked goods are delicious and always to a high standard. I particularly enjoy their sandwiches too for a brunch/lunch.

Fantastic coffee and pastries but if I could make one suggestion, seperate the chocolate in your pain au chocolat so they’re not stacked on top of each other 😊
